Shu's tragic backstory and development in further games gives him a leg up on a lot of the other vampires, to the point where he is ''the'' most popular capture target in Japan.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Most of the love interests come across as this, even ''after'' their FreudianExcuse is revealed. Not even [[ExtremeDoormat Yui]] get sympathy from some fans.

Apparently, this is because trends in America are very favorable towards {{Bishonen}}s and the fact that the episodes are relatively short in comparison to most TwelveEpisodeAnime (each episode is 15 minutes as opposed to the usual 22-24 minutes). And to be fair, it has been theorized that the Mexican Spanish dub was created for the sole purpose of making a gateway for new voice actors and letting themselves get known (since the anime was a very cheap production due to both its low amount of characters and short duration of the episodes), as well as trying to renew interest in Spanish-dubbed anime (even though [[Manga/TheSevenDeadlySins there is another anime doing that job]]).

* DracoInLeatherPants: For those who loved the boys, in both fanart and fanfiction they toned down the boys' sadist traits, turning them into [[NiceGuy unreasonably sweet]] lovers and [[{{Adorkable}} compete to win Yui's heart.]]

* FetishRetardant: A lot of people find this too scary or disturbing to be sexy. Some even feel the game would've worked better as a straight-up horror story.

* HamAndCheese: It is generally agreed that the series would be far less enjoyable if it wasn't for the overly dramatic voice acting in the English dub, particularly Creator/ChrisPatton's Ayato and Creator/MaggieFlecknoe's Yui. The Mexican Spanish dub is not a slouch in this as well.
* HilariousInHindsight: In the Mexican Spanish dub, Ayato is voiced by Ricardo Bautista, who previously voiced the LoserProtagonist [[Manga/LoveHina Keitaro Urashima]], who is abused by all the female cast. In this series, the roles are inverted and Keitaro is the ''abuser'' instead. Extra irony the ADR director is the same voice actress who voiced Naru.
