* CryForTheDevil: The sharks are still dangerous and predatory, but they inspire more sympathy than the sharks from the first two movies. They've been experimented on relentlessly and hunted across the ocean. Their mother is killed early on and they're drawn to the signal from her electronic tracer even while understanding on some level that she's dead. One of them is captured and tortured with electric shocks and the other two try to rescue their brother and clearly recognize when his life is being threatened to make them back off.

Added DiffLines:

* MoralEventHorizon: Lucas starts as a PunchClockVillain who seems less callous and hypocritical than his superior. Then it's revealed that [[spoiler: he's planted a mine to blow up the village and everyone in it along with the sharks.]] He follows this up with a smug speech about how he doesn't care one bit about the scientific advances the sharks brains can bring to humanity, saying that the only important thing is protecting the stock price of the company that let the sharks escape.

** The film is written by Dirk Blackman who wrote the third entry in the ''Film/Underworld2003'' franchise as well as being the co-writer of ''Film/{{Outlander}}.''
** Actors Bren Foster and Emerson Brooks worked together on ''Series/TheLastShip.''
** Emma Collins is portrayed by Tania Raymonde, who played Alex Rousseau in ''Series/{{Lost}}.''

* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: Despite being a direct-to-video shark film, the movie's special effects are actually pretty decent for the most part(though there are a few hiccups). At some points, the CG sharks are more convincing than the digital sharks from the first.

** One could say that Sally's [[spoiler: rescue of Emma was indirect due to her attacking the villain who was bleeding and that may be, but her final shot in the movie makes it looks like she's checking in on Emma before she leaves.]]

* CrowningMomentOfHeartWarming: Sally. For a franchise centering around killer sharks, Sally, a great white shark (ie the villain of many a movie) is portrayed in a super positive light. Not only does she [[spoiler: save Emma from one of the villains]], she also [[spoiler: survives the entire movie.]] While the music in her first appearance is tense, the music in her final appearance is serene and beautiful.

** Emma having to rescue Richard from the jaws one of the sharks. The shark had slammed into Richard to bite, luckily not biting down so hard due to a sedative kicking into it. Richard however still finds himself in the shark's jaws and the unconscious shark sinks to the bottom of the ocean with him still in its jaws partly. Emma has to pry its jaws open to get him out.
