Not helped by BLKHRTS (a rap group with similar distortion and death metal/rock/industrial influences, often compared to DG) being vocal about how they believe Death Grips is a white-fueled psuedo-indie capitalist insult to rap, and a review by a professor of music who had much the same criticism, albeit leaning toward B L A C K I E.
** Unique, or ripoffs of acts like [[Music/{{Dalek}} dälek]], B L A C K I E, Music/{{Clipping}}, et cetera? Not helped by B L A C K I E (very possibly lightly) calling Death Grips "mainstream" during their falsified label breakup and jokingly comparing MC Ride to a kid wearing a cape.

* ContestedSequel: ''Government Plates'' seems to be eliciting this reaction. On one side, you have those who appreciate the cryptic feel of the album, and feel like it was a necessary follow-up to ''No Love Deep Web''. On the other side, you have those who feel like the album was a disappointment compared to its predecessors.

[[Creator/RobertPattinson Robert Pattinson's]] appearance on "Birds" could also count as this.

** "Black Paint" has one Death Grips' best riff with background chanting of "AYE AYE AYE" to make it even better

** Ride's constant barrages of "AAAAH OOOOH OOOH WAH OOOOOH WAAAAH" in Blood Creepin' can sound pretty silly to some listeners
** Ride's constant shoutings of "BLOBLOBLOBLOBLO" in Hot Head is silly.

* IKnewIt: Was it really that obvious the band wasn't going to break up?
* MagnificentBastard: The whole band after the entire marketing campaign of ''No Love Deep Web''. The sheer scale of their ARG made it impossible not to notice it, and putting it on [=BitTorrent=] for free the day of the release automatically put it at number one on The Pirate Bay, and to top it all off, who ''wasn't'' going to hear about [[ContemptibleCover "that album with the boner on the cover"]]?
** On top of that, the conflict that sparked the leak ended with Death Grips [[NiceJobFixingItVillain famous and with total artistic control.]] After having the album completed months in advance, they couldn't get their label to so much as listen to it, the release date almost ended up delayed, and at one point, the label tried to take ownership of their masters from them. So, they leak the e-mails explaining this and the label drops them, with ''no further repercussions.'' How's that for "well-played?"
** Their debated 'break-up'. MC and Zac stated they were splitting up Death Grips and stated their last album would be released in 2014...before revealing there would be a ''two parter to it'' and released in 2015. There's also the fact their Twitter later on went offline and rebooted to another one, making the idea of a break up unlikely..
*** This later on confirmed ''somewhat true'' by the majority of people noticed the Twitter again, showing the band members at Disneyland, only to later on delete the photo and the ''majority'' of the information above. Plus the fact ''Jenny Death'' is slated to be released in March...
*** Later on they confirmed that they [[BlatantLies still have some "feeling" to make music]], because [[SarcasmMode they totally fooled people later on in 2015 over their "break-up]].

** "Artificial Death in the West" is a slow, spacey, depressing song ruminating about the hopeless future of humanity. Ride sounds more despairing here than on just about any other song in the band's discography, even sounding close to tears when he sings "No matter where I turn, everyone's a runaway."
** "Birds", especially since it's one of the quietest songs in their discography.
** "On GP", considering it has the most emotional lyrics of the discography, talking about Ride/Stefan's view of the band's bleak future and considering suicide.
** One Website/{{Reddit}}or [[http://i.imgur.com/nQI1NpS.jpg uploaded a picture]] from a DG concert (one of the handful that they reportedly didn't show up to). It's a screencap of an email of a fan telling the band that they had chosen to commit suicide but [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments thanking them for making their life a little better through their music]].
