** Kuon has this status among those who played Blood Drive. While her antics and general character earned plenty of fans, she received quite a bit of backlash and critical reception. Many dislike her feelings for Satoshi and how she's written arout it, comparing her behavior to that of predatory teachers. The fact that Blood Drive romanticizes her actions toward Satoshi is largely considered contradictory to the first couple of games putting a negative light on those kinds of people.

** The OVA ''Tortured Souls'' ending was meant to be shocking, but caused a lot of people to start laughing instead, due to how sudden it is. [[spoiler: Satoshi, Ayumi and Naomi need their name badges on them in order to escape Heavenly Host, which fortunately they do. All three hold hands in their escape... but Satoshi turns out to have grabbed a ''different'' student's name badge, not his own. The second this is revealed, the scene cuts to Ayumi and Naomi staring in stunned silence at Satoshi's severed arms dangling from their hands while the rest of him is left behind.]] Abruptly cut to black and roll credits.

** ''Blood Drive'' loves [[NarratingTheObvious narrating everything that happens on-screen]]. It gets hilariously bad during [[spoiler: Misuto's death scene, where we clearly see his head being taken off]], alongside the narrator describing the whole thing as if the screen went black or something.

** The live-action adaptations are also criticized for the first movie [[spoiler:almost having the exact same plot and ending as the OVA]] and the sequel, ''Book of Shadows'', [[spoiler:barely trying anything new apart from keeping Seiko alive longer, and making the already bleak ending even worse by leaving Naomi as the SoleSurvivor (and even then, she's heavily implied to have not have much time left)]].

Split trope

** In Chapter 7 of ''2U'', Yui and Tsukasa are placed in a ''Film/{{Saw}}''-style scenario and have to answer four questions correctly to be released. If they fail, Tsukasa is killed via Yui's butt smothering his face. The name of the Wrong Ending entry? "Rear End."

* BetterThanCanon: The characterization of Ayumi in ''VisualNovel/CorpsePartyD2DepthsOfDespair'' is seen as a much better portrayal than in canon. ''VisualNovel/CorpsePartyD2FatalOperation'' is also very liked due to giving an explanation for [[spoiler:the disappearance of Seiko's mother, Sayaka. Kizami can also undergo a HeelFaceTurn that still feels true to his character, and Naomi and Seiko can potentially end up together]].

Kill Em All is no longer a trope

** A common complaint in the series is that, despite the multiple adaptations and sequels, [[spoiler:all of them either KillEmAll or only leave the characters of the original PC-98 game alive]].

To quote the page, "Do not link to this on the wiki, please. Not even under the YMMV tab."

* SugarWiki/DevelopmentHeaven: Team [=GrisGris=] was pretty much four people making a horror game with RPG Maker 98. The game had loads of characters, notes and multiple endings, leading to it gaining so much popularity that it not only got a remake by the now much larger team, full with voice actors and all, it also spawned an anime, a manga series and multiple pre- and sequels.
