* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Considering the fic's [[Anime/CodeGeass main series]] are based on, a number of character's actions and motivations are subject to speculation and seen differently depending on your view.

** In chapter eight, was Zero really thinking of shooting Rai when he was silent to his offer, or was it simply a intimidation tactic to coerce Rai into joining, knowing that Kallen would come to Rai's aid and plead for Rai to join.
** Backstage 4 did OSI Special Agent Harald Thompson tell Kaguya about the [[spoiler: Sumeragi Legacy]] due to thinking that her guards would shoot him if he didn't give up some useful information. Or did he lead her on knowing that she would search the Sumeragi temple for clues and be a UnwittingPawn for whoever it is he is actually working for.
** Even Rai himself is subject to this, did he really join the [[spoiler: Black Knights]] in Chapter Nine because he wants to truly fight for Japan, or is he simply using them for the simple purpose of regaining his memories and that he could care less about what they want to achieve. His answers to [[spoiler: E.E]] in Chapter Seventeen raises the Ambiguity further.

*** Carrying on, is Rai's lack of confidence in his skill down to him being Amnesiac, a FishOutOfWater and that he is a shy person overall. Or does he have some AmbiguousDisorder that makes it hard for him to process his feelings and thoughts externally and in places internally. Or is he {{Obfuscating Stupidity}} without realising it in order to lower everyone's guard around him so he isn't at risk.
*** How much of Rai's POV is reliable? Considering his amnesia, talking in halting, short, and uncomplicated sentences, passive personality early on, lack of POV's form other characters. Is Rai POV's a clear view of the people, events and relationships going on in the fic? Or is he an UnreliableNarrator and is secretly got an Agenda with [[spoiler: E.E]] that has yet to be revealed.

** Lelouch/Rai the chess games they play Lelouch's obsession of collecting Rai as a chess piece the planning they do together, the chats they have also when [[spoiler: Rai]] came to join the black knights lulu was right in his face close enough to nearly touch Rai's face after Rai took off the blindfold he had been wearing ]] can come off as this if you read it in a certain way.

* GrowingTheBeard: The first 9 nine chapters move slowly and are more about establishing the characters and setting for those who didn’t watch the anime. Once [[spoiler: Rai]] Joins the Black Knights and the existence of [[spoiler: E.E and the sumeragi's legacy]] comes into play. The fic comes into it's own.
* FanPreferredPairing: For a number of reviewers, Rai/Kallen due to their scenes throughout the fic. Though there has been no indication from WordOfGod or in the story of what if any pairings are.

* GrowingTheBeard: the first 17 chapters follow the anime and Lost colors very closely but once chapter 18 happens and we see Rai's past and his memories return that's when the story start's becoming it's own with each passing chapter though grammar and spelling mistakes are still there at times.
* HoYay: there is to some degree Ho Yay between certain characters in this fic first one being:
** Lelouch/Rai the chess games they play Lelouch's obsession of collecting Rai as a chess piece the planning they do together, the chats they have while drinking tea together a lot and the fact Lelouch really wanted Rai to [[spoiler: stay and take over being Zero for him ]] also [[spoiler:when Rai came to join the black knights lulu was right in his face close enough to nearly touch Rai's face after Rai took off the blindford he had been wearing ]] can come off as this if you read it in a certain way plus [[spoiler: this line in chapter 20 to some degree gives a civil partnership feel to the two "Unlike everyone else in the Black Knights, he is the only that I consider to be my equal. And now that I told him who I really am, there's no reason for him to doubt me anymore. Besides, he's just like me, which makes it easy for me to read him." ]] this line from the latest chapter adds even more to the fire [[spoiler: "Because, I can relate to him better than anyone else. He and I have…a mutual understanding of each other. In fact, my relationship with him might even be deeper than the one you have with him. Chapter 30 Lelouch seems hurt Rai won't share secrets with him as if they are in a relationship. ]] yeah nice amount of ho yay here
** Suzaku/Rai especially in the early chapters when they spend quite a bit of time together when Kallen is off somewhere else (black knight duties no not that kind) Suzaku wanting Rai with him in the army, Suzaku's reaction to [[spoiler: finding out Kallen and Rai's secret and suspecting Kallen's feelings towards Rai ]] can come across as hurt feelings of a jealous lover in a way and then there's their [[spoiler: Kightmare battle in chapter 23 after Suzaku wanted the two to walk the same path and Suzaku wanting to avoid being a Black Knight prisoner at all costs ]] all this despite his relationship with Euphie. Chapter 31 has them meeting secretly near Rai's former home town and they keep glancing away in embarrassment with each other, Rai wanted Suzaku to join him in the Blue moon and Suzaku seemed jealous once again asking about him and Kallen and they both still want to walk the same path.
** as in canon Lelouch/Suzaku though that might've sunk in [[spoiler: chapter 24 as Lelouch ordered Kallen to kill him as he wasn't fussed if he lived or died anymore ]]
** In chapter 24 [[spoiler: once Zero/Lelouch has won the battle he gives his victory speech on creating the United States of Japan all the while being filmed by Diethard who's practically at the height of his erm 'admiration for zero' with this line "Yes, show me, show everyone your charisma, let the whole world know of your existence" yes the guy really likes his charisma quite a bit ]] Diethard's chapter in the sidestories petty much out him as gay for Lelouch.
** Chapter 18 gives off a vibe that something of this sort of relationship might've existed between [[spoiler: Rai's mother and E.E since apparently "it seemed that no matter where his mother was this woman was always at her side" and add in this quote "She should be in the chapel right now. Once you find her, tell her to come to my room so I can talk with her." plus your "mother dragged me to another country" certainly raises questions on what their relationship was like and it can come across as Rai had two mothers and that they and his father were in a three-way sort relationship ]] chapter 26 [[spoiler: E.E. prays at her grave and the way she talks about Rai it's pretty canon they raised him together and are confident he will fulfill their wish ]]
** Suzaku/[[spoiler: Sai ]] seem to be fond of each other and Suzaku calmed down enough in [[spoiler: chapter 24 by going by going to pick up his 'partner' from the docks ]] and in chapter 20 and 21 [[spoiler: Sai ]] when he's around or see's Euphie he gives off a vibe he's jealous of their relationship and in chapter 15 [[spoiler: they go shopping together for food for Cecile but that's what Suzaku says ]]
** there's LesYay between Oldrin and Princess Mirabelle, Oldrin even turned down a chance to be a knight of the round so she could stay with Mirabelle.
** Kallen and Haruna have some minor LesYay subtext, one time Haruna asked Kallen if they were going to the coffee shop on her bike suggesting that Kallen has given Haruna a ride on her bike before.
** When Kallen and Leila meet for the first time on chapter 32 Kallen calls her beautiful and gorgeous... well for a Britannian she says but look who's talking. With Leila saying Rai has told her all about her, yeah you get the picture.
* MagnificentBastard: [[spoiler: Surt Zilch ]] may be this to a certain degree being this considering how much influence he seems to have and how he seems to have all pieces in place for his plan and no one knows (yet) who he really is and what his real goal is. chapter thirty really shows how well prepared he is against the Black Knights along with chapter 31 as well
* NightmareFuel:[[spoiler: Surt Zilch wears bondage type clothing (full black leather battle clothing) that covers everything but his eyes, he's big and has a deep voice plus his eyes show only Geass, plus the way he kills Oiaguro with his heart at the end of his sword blood poring down it as well ]] have pleasant dreams.
** [[spoiler: chapter 18 the way Rai's Britannian relatives happily kill themselves with swords, knives and a shotgun leave a impression that's for sure ]]
* {{Shipping}}: quite a lot between Rai/Kallen thoughout the story in chapter 25 [[spoiler: they confess their feelings to each other before Rai leaves whether this goes anywhere or not as the story goes on depends on the author's plan for the story ]]
** it's subtle but there is some between Lelouch/Shirley whether this goes anyway in the future depends on what the author has in mind
** minor one but in Chapter 24 and 25 [[spoiler: Lelouch is pretty happy to now have orange as Nunnally's knight considering how he considered Suzaku and Rai for the roles this says much about Lelouch's desire to protect his sister) ]]
** you could consider there's a bit of this between [[spoiler: Rai/Kaguya since she's very fond of onii-chan Rai despite being cousins if it's there then it's mainly one-sided on Kaguya's side ]]
** not much yet but there's a little bit between Lelouch/CC as well whether more comes out of this not clear yet
** in chapter 18 What Rai's father thinks may be something between Rai/[[spoiler: Lelia Malkal especially the fact she gives him a quick kiss before she departs back to the EU after visiting Rai's mother and sister's graves with him and the fact they've been friends since they were six ]] considering the author plans to use characters from Akito 'of the Exiled' and Oz 'of the Reflection' throughout his story this may or may not come back in the future. In chapter 31 [[spoiler: they seem to be just close friends and allies with no hint of sexual attraction ]]
* TheScrappy: quite a few reviewers seem to Dislike [[spoiler: Michael Steinburg aka Sai ]] simply cause they think he's like Suzaku and that both are whiny, emo idiots
** this reaction to him may have led the author to in chapter 24 [[spoiler: have Rai slashed Sai across the face with Kallen's pouch knife ]] as a TakeThatScrappy
* TearJerker: learning of Rai's past in chapter 18 can be quite sad, as can [[spoiler: Euphemia's speech and tears at having to leave Japan in chapter 24 ]]
** [[spoiler: Rai and Kallen's first kiss as they goodbye to each other in chapter 25 as Rai leaves Japan, Kallen falling to sleep later at home crying cements this ]]
** chapter thirty Kallen waiting at the school for her brother and he never comes to get her, [[spoiler: their reunion is very heart-warming and may produces tears in you ]]
* TheWoobie: as with the series quite a few stand out Rai especially considering that in chapter 18 [[spoiler: he lost his mother and sister because his Britanian relatives were racist bigots who forced his father to do the deed ]] and [[spoiler: after coming to Japan gaining new friends, comrades and a girlfriend he has to leave them behind to complete a deal he made for an unknown purpose so far ]]
** IronWoobie: you can also consider Rai this as well considering he also loses his memories suffers nasty injuries in chapters 17 and 24 and just keeps going despite everything he has and will go through in the story.
** StoicWoobie: Rai never seems to show outwardly show any hint he is suffering though the fact he has no memories for the first 17 chapters and hints Rai is holding a lot of it in and guards his emotions this may change as the story goes on and we learn more of Rai and his past and what he has done etc.
* WhatAnIdiot: as in canon Lelouch uses his geass for what you could say are petty and silly reasons and despite the fact [[spoiler: Rai a fellow geass user with the same ability and the person he called "the only man i consider to be my equal in the Black Knights" keeps warning him to not overuse it ]] what does Lelouch do [[spoiler: he continues to do so and as in canon he lost control of it at the wrong place at the wrong time ]] whoops indeed nice one Lelouch [[spoiler: thankfully this time Rai was there to stop him killing Euphie but Lelouch's actions on this may have tainted his relationship with Rai and may lead to problems down the line ]]
** You could say this about Rai in chapter 22 when he [[spoiler: gets shot by Euphemia while not checking if she was disarmed first before trying to ungeass her, resulting him getting shot ]]

* CompleteMonster: Duke Calares is quite a brutal person with destroying Ie Shimo with glee, in one of the sidestories chapters he helps burn churches and killed a woman just because she collapsed after being overworked and in the latest chapter he fired a weapon that leveled many forces and quite a bit of the city, all the while gleefully killing 'eleven bugs' as he calls Japanese citizens.

* ItGetsBetter: as with GrowingTheBeard and depending on how you view the story it's around chapter 15 or 18 or later when the story starts to show and reach it potential, but the early chapters are filled with quite a bit of foreshadowing and hints to what's to come so they are worth reading in a way.

* TheScrappy: quite a few reviewers seem to Dislike [[spoiler: Michael Steinburg aka Sai ]] simply cause they think he's like Suzaku and that both are whiny, emo idiots which to some degrees falls into HateDumb for both as they have understandable reasons for their actions and loyalty and Lelouch/Rai are not perfect either
