* AluminumChristmasTrees: The series's props, despite being comically mundane for their time and place, are all now antique, adding a second layer of removal for modern audiences.

* GrowingTheBeard: In the early years the show was ridiculed by critics for its cheapness (par for the course for a [=DuMont=] show) and its incoherentness (thanks to the subpar scripts mostly written by M. C. Brock, this being his only known TV writing credit, and the random western movie interludes) despite being popular with kids and adults alike. When General Foods took over sponsorship in 1951, they installed Olga Druce as producer and she improved the show to a noticeable extent by increasing the budget (though it remained on the low side), replacing M. C. Brock (who she couldn't stand) with notable sci-fi authors and reducing the amount of western movie clips which were also worked into the scripts more convincingly; the critics responded positively to the changes.

* RetroactiveRecognition:
** The Video Ranger was played by Don Hastings, who later played Dr. Robert Hughes on ''Series/AsTheWorldTurns'' for 50 years, the longest stint for a cast member on an American soap opera.
** One of the villains Captain Video faced was Nargola, an early role for Creator/ErnestBorgnine.

Better Than It Sounds cleanup. Leaving the page blank until legitimate entries collect.

BetterThanItSounds: Despite coming off as a dated and cheesy low budget ScienceFiction show, it has been given some praise for actual effort in the plot and characters. Writers for the show included science fiction luminaries such as JackVance, JamesBlish, ArthurCClarke, and DamonKnight, as well as occasional guest writers also in the field.
