* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: The effects in their videos (such as "Lies" and "The Mother We Share") are simply just ''phenomenal''.
* TheWoobie: Lauren Mayberry. With all the misogynist comments she's received on the band's Facebook and [=4chan=], combined with the amount of TearJerker lyrics she's written over the years, it's not hard to feel bad for the poor girl.
** IronWoobie: At one point, she wrote an editorial on The Guardian about the issue, the tone of which is firm and determined. She's made of pretty stern stuff, as this quote demonstrates:
-->'''Lauren:''' During this past tour, I am embarrassed to admit that I have had more than one prolonged toilet cry and a "Come on, get a hold of yourself, you got this" conversation with myself in a bathroom mirror when particularly exasperated and tired out. But then, after all the sniffling had ceased, I asked myself: why should I cry about this? Why should I feel violated, uncomfortable and demeaned? Why should we all keep quiet?
** On April 25, 2019, Lauren Mayberry [[https://twitter.com/CHVRCHES/status/1121479667335204864 tweeted a formal response]] to {{Music/Marshmello}} about his collaboration with Music/ChrisBrown and Tyga. ** "Under the Tide" also counts, in a way. The song isn't that depressing, and the lyrics seem to be--at first glance--about fixing a failed relationship. The band later revealed it was written for a recently-deceased friend who had a terminal illness, which puts the song in a more depressing light.

This prompted a very hilarious reaction from Lauren, the rest of the band and the entire crowd, as they were currently being filmed by the BBC and swearing usually isn't allowed on BBC live recordings. The live feed to their set ended up being cut.

to:

* TearJerker: TearJerker:

"Now Is Not The Time".

*** "Down Side Of Me" is a hauntingly beautiful song which can be classed a tearjerker. It's about a relationship that's falling apart and trying to put everything into keeping it steady and trying to stay strong and cool on top of all the pressure even if your love together is dwindling. "Not the same, not the same, you're not the same, not the same".
*** "Really Gone" from Love Is Dead is gut wrenchingly sad to hear. The song is mostly an ode to a dead relationship with the majority of the track being Lauren singing over a gentle synth in the background until the song ends on just her vocals "And I cannot stay" is goose bump inducing and one of Lauren's best vocal performances. The song was famously used at the ending of Season 4 Episode 10 of Supergirl during a particular tearjerking moment to fans of the show.
*** Although at first listen the album is very light and poppy compared to their darker-pop sound of "The Bones of What You Believe" or "Empty Open Eye" to an extent, "Love Is Dead" as a whole has a lot of tearjerking songs hidden under very upbeat songs. "Wonderland" is a beautiful upbeat song yet is about accepting a relationship is toxic and having the courage to end it whilst simultaneously killing off any hope for a positive outcome.
*** "Death Stranding". Words cannot do this song justice alone. The title song of the video game of the same name did become a song for those struggling in 2020, whether it was lockdown, COVID or the many incidents of civil unrest taking place across the globe. The song became a beacon of hope for those hoping to see the light at the end of the tunnel and hope the world would get relatively back to normal soon.
