* HighOctaneNightmareFuel: If you take a look at Ragna's section under "BadassCreed" and interpret his Astral as the latter it's difficult ''not'' to see it as this. Also doubles as a MoralDissonance moment, since not even [[spoiler:''Terumi'' goes that far with his opponents.]]

* VillainSue: Terumi/Hazama lately has been skirting this line. Let's see, he's good-looking with that pimping outfit, he's terribly overpowered as he {{Troll}}s people with ease, the world has been made so Crapsack to facilitate to his power (LOTS OF HAAATE!), he was once amongst the heroes, he cheerfully made potentially good people turn bad, and whenever he's canonically beaten, it's ''always'' to further his other, much more important plan (Hello, Takamagahara!), and [[KarmaHoudini there doesn't seem to be a plan for him to finally get his comeuppance]]. He's basically an invincible {{Troll}}. Oh, and also? He's lately getting much more focus from the author, starting from the ''Wheel of Fortune'' Drama CD whereas he once again gets away with [[KickTheDog kicking a puppy]] named Tsubaki, and now there will be a novel ''BlazBlue Phase 1'', which can basically be summed up as ''"Terumi [[AndZoidberg And The Six Heroes]]"''. Oh yeah, [[{{Bleach}} Aizen]] can really suck his thumb when compared to Terumi.

* RuinedForever: Continuum Shift wildly changed the direction of the series. While Calamity Trigger was mostly a [[SeriousBusiness serious game with a serious story and serious characters]], Continuum Shift adds a lot more fanservice, and laces even the most serious story paths with [[ComicRelief comedy]] that some enjoy, but that [[LoveItOrHateIt isn't for everyone]] and even [[BaseBreaker may infuriate or enrage]] some people, particularly fans of the first game's story and [[{{Lolicon}} people of certain persuasions]]. Particularly noticeable in Platinum and Makoto, characters that [[{{stripperiffic}} show a lot]] [[{{vaporwear}} more skin]] and have completely silly tones and animations in battle.

** Kokonoe.

* FanDisservice: Not Makoto herself, mind you, but there have been a few artists who have chosen to draw male characters, such as Ragna, Jin, Bang, and even Terumi, in her outfit, the results of which are not pretty.

** The home console version of ''Continuum Shift'' adds Mu-12 [[spoiler:, Noel's Murakumo Unit form,]] with a {{Stripperiffic}} outfit and [[DoesNotLikeShoes bare]] [[FootFocus toes]]. Oh, and a {{BFS}}.

*** Hell, even Tsubaki gets in on it in her joke ending, when Litchi dresses her up in sexy outfits.

** Bang. Some might think that creating a character who is a mere caricature of classic tokusatsu heroes would be a drained and overplayed choice in modern times, well, they're wrong, very much so.

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Even though Kokonoe has never hinted to display any kind of fighting ability, she’s a fairly popular request to be playable. It helps that she ''is'' a direct descendant of two of the Six Heroes…

* CompleteMonster: Terumi. Oh '''''GOD''''' yes. [[spoiler: This is actually a plot point because in order to be able to keep his spirit within the living world, he needs to be hated by as many people as possible]].

** Ragna's Normal Ending in CS. [[spoiler: Due to overusing the Azure he becomes a humanoid Black Beast but because he doesn't have the Beast's heart (Nu) he just lays there while Ragna's mind is trapped inside. Jubei has to put down his student while Rachel actually cries over his body and tells Ragna that she'll see him in another world.]]

* RetiredCompleteMonster: [[spoiler:Kokonoe. YourMileageMayVary, but Kokonoe has a ''very'' shady past. This lady was partially responsible for the creation of Arakune (through neglect) and even had a part in building up [[CompleteMonster Relius']] Ignis (that's his WIFE). But as of today, she's against Relius and Terumi, although she makes it clear that she's cranky and not very nice, nor having regrets of what she's done in the past. Tager eventually knew this, [[LawfulNeutral but placed his faith on her nonetheless]]]]

** Like Bang, it seems like half of the fanbase loves him, and the other half loathes him. The ones who hate him generally find him whiny, annoying, and irrelevant to the overall plot. Other people like him for his relatively unique, cool, and effective playstyle, puppetmaster aesthetic, stylish outfit and an interesting story overall. Also, the fact that some people (mainly the female parts of the fanbase) just [[CuteShotaroBoy want to take him home with them]] really helps his popularity.

* ThatOneAttack: Devoured By Darkness becomes this as Unlimited Ragna.
** According to the changes reported in ''Continuum Shift'', he's gotten several nerfs, so this may yet be averted.

* MoralEventHorizon: Hazama/Terumi and Relius Clover seem to have a running competition to see who can cross more Moral Event Horizons faster. Hazama is winning, but only because he has had more screen time.
** For Hazama/Terumi:
*** [[spoiler: Creating the Black Beast, for starters. Not to mention creating the Azure Grimoire... both versions.]]
*** [[spoiler: Personally mind-raping, and/or ruining the entire lives of almost every member of the main cast, and several secondary characters. Half the time he didn't even need to do it. [[ForTheEvulz He just enjoys what he does]].]]

*** Trapping his own daughter, Ada, inside the Nox Nyctores Nirvana, then saddling his son Carl with Nirvana [[spoiler: knowing full well that it will slowly devour his emotions.]]
*** Using the knowledge he gained from his experiments on his daughter, he "perfected" his doll-making technique and [[spoiler: used his ''wife'' to make the new-and-improved version.]]
** Generally when Relius shows in a character's story path, it means he/she is on a one way trip to the bad ending.

* TearJerker: Lambda's Story Mode. All of it. [[BreakTheCutie Even the Gag Reel.]]

** Even NPCs are not immune to this. Kokonoe is a CatGirl in [[{{Meganekko}} glasses]] who also [[BareYourMidriff bares her midriff]], is a gigantic {{Tsundere}}, and wears her pants low enough that her [[UnderwearOfPower thong is exposed]].
