He murders the actual Frank Fontaine and steals his identity to get into Rapture, just as the start of what he does. It gets even worse as Fontaine obtains power and manipulates so many people into ADAM addictions so he can rake in the profits. There's also how he exploits Diane [=McClintock=], one of his most loyal followers, and stabs her to death after she accidentally walked in on him posing as Atlas. You really get a feel of the monster he's further transformed into by the events of the first game.

* CompleteMonster: It goes without saying that Frank "Fontaine" is one.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: To a degree considering [[FourLinesAllWaiting just how many stories]] the novel tries to contain and share. Because of the book's rushed state to incorporate lore from ''BioShock2'', many notable characters from that game have a diminished presence. There's also several off-page events, be they due to being in-game materials (such as Audio Diary events) or simply not being portrayed on the page.

* TheWoobie: Bill McDonagh and his family. [[spoiler:Even moreso in how they manage to escape, but he does not.]]
