[[note]]Real name Robert [=Welch=], aka "The Tennesse Stud" Robert Fuller in Memphis and Alabama for decades and Wrestling/JeffJarrett's manager Tennessee Lee in 1998 Wrestling/{{WWE}}).[[/note]] The idea for the gimmick is usually attributed to wrestler [[Wrestling/SidEudy Sid [=Vicious=]]].

* EarnYourHappyEnding: While a 5-time WCW champ, Booker had to endure a lot setbacks in his WWE career (the finish of ''[=WrestleMania=] XIX'' is a good example where Wrestling/TripleH squashed him in humiliating fashion) before he finally won a world title again in 2006, five years after joining the company.

* {{Expy}}: Gi Bro was an expy of Sergeant Slaughter.

* FinishingMove: The Bookend, the Ax Kick, the Scissor Kick, The Missile Dropkick. In WCW he used to use a top rope somersault leg drop he called the Harlem Hangover. Occasionally used it in WWE as the Houston Hangover

* FriendToAllChildren: The money generated from his PWA\ROW shows that doesn't go to workers gets put in the Booker T Fights For Kids charity.
* ForYourOwnGood: Booker T's reasoning for helping Jerry Lawler pull Michael Cole from the ring, who had already retreated over the top rope to get away from [[Wrestling/KiaStevens Kharma]], who went on to drop Wrestling/DolphZiggler with the implant buster.

* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: More so in WCW, where this had become the norm
* HollywoodVoodoo: After claiming to be better than the Undertaker (which got the predictable results), Booker T turned to a bokor, who freaked out because "a shadow" was stalking him. When he asked her what to do about "the shadow" she gave him some powder, which he was to sprinkle in a grave site. It raised another man from the dead, who presumably would fight the Undertaker for Booker T but Booker got scared and took off before he could see the man come out of the ground.

** He tried to suppress this as King Booker but even then he got all fired up when Cryme Tyme stole his wallet. Otherwise this was pretty much the norm.

* IKissYourFoot: King Booker would often try to ''force'' other wrestlers to kiss his foot

* LargeHam: It had reduced a bit as he got older but even then it took awhile. Take a gander at King Booker's promos where he completely cuts off Batista on the microphone to assure him of his inferiority. Better yet, just watch his entrance where he hops around and raises his hands when the pyro goes off.

* LeaveHimToMe: At Producciones Perros del Mal, Booker T willingly took on Big Daddy V to keep him off of his smaller partners Mesias and Blue Demon Jr. However, after everything Booker T did failed to knock Big Daddy V down he called for their help, once they were done with Shawn Hernandez and [[Wrestling/TheWorldsGreatestTagTeam Shelton Benjamin]].
* LegacyCharacter: ''Sort Of''. Bubba Douglas was the first Booker T when he was in CSW:Heart of America Sports Attractions, a promotion in Kansas but that Booker T wasn't much like this one beyond name (and a not quite afro, if you want to stretch it)

** Alternated between "The Woodchuck's Game", "Hittin' The Jack" by Joel Edwards and his G.I. Bro Theme in the year 2000.

* OneSteveLimit: Booker T owned his own PWA, Pro Wrestling Alliance, in Texas, but was also champion in another PWA, Prairie Wrestling Alliance, in Canada.

* OnlySaneMan: He shares this role with Josh Matthews when it comes to commentary on Smackdown. Though unlike Josh Matthews, who wisely stays quiet about it, Booker [=T=] tends to call Wrestling/MichaelCole out on his insanity.

** During his time as King Booker, Booker used an obviously fake British accent. On occasion he'd get angered and slip back to his actual accent, mostly when someone caused him to revert to yelling "[[CatchPhrase Tell me, he didn't just say that]]!"

** Back in the dark days of WCW in 2000, briefly revived his old GWF gimmick of G.I. Bro as a member of the military-themed {{Face}} group the Misfits In Action.
** He and Stevie Ray joined the Masters Of The Power Bomb with Wrestling/BigVanVader and Sid while they were Kole and Kane.

* SharpDressedMan: During his United States Championship feud with the Boogeyman Booker declared himself to be the best dressed wrestler in the world and usually wore a suit. Also in the Main Event Mafia, obviously.

** King Bookah, is a King. Batista is nothing but a bloated peasant!

** To prove this? The Raw of 06/06/11. He gets challenged by [[JerkJock Jack Swagger]] and goaded into a match. Many people expect Swagger to [[CurbStompBattle squash him]]. After all, Booker's a commentator now and the commentary team kept hyping that he had at least four years of ring rust [[AlternateHistory (despite being part of TNA)]]. What happens? Booker beats Swagger so bad, Swagger tries to ''run away'' only for Wrestling/EvanBourne to toss him back into the ring to receive Booker's patented [[FinishingMove Scissors Kick]]. Now, can you dig that? Sucka!

* UnderwearOfPower: Unless he was not wrestling, pretty much wore them all the time

* UpperClassTwit: As King Booker, and again during his TNA tenure with team 3D declaring him royalty and kissing his ring.

* WorthyOpponent: El Illegal Chicano in Puerto Rican IWA, despite being part of the evil Main Event Mafia stable and holder of his trumped up Legends Championship, Booker T was hardly upset when he lost to Chicano and celebrated with him.

* CoolOldGuy: Nearing 50 and still one of the most respected and well-liked personalities in WWE, whether in the ring or out.
