** ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII'': Leaving out the erm, [[PlotlineDeath obvious example]], Cloud inflicts a misplaced beating on Aerith when he gets possessed by Sephiroth. He's very sorry for it when he comes to later. Tseng also backhands Aerith early on in Disc One; this becomes even more of a KickTheDog moment with a later reveal that he has a VillainousCrush on her.

* In ''VideoGame/RedDeadRedemption2'' Arthur believes that all people are all equally capable of doing harm, so he'd kill a women if he has to. He does respect women and supports them, such as their right to vote or going out of his way to help a woman who is being harassed or held hostage in some guy's room while proceeding to defeat the man for even attempting to try to harm the woman in the first place. That said although less canonical , he can also go around punching and beating up women, have them in a choke hold, hog-tie them to alligators, shove them around, tie them to a train, or shoot them point-blank in the face, no different than he does to men. Like that [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPYAM9AfRHo one time he infamously knocks out a woman square in the jaw who was protesting her claim in the Suffrage]]. If he does this enough, he'll eventually talk to one of the ladies at his camp that he just [[VideoGameCrueltyPotential can't stop going around hurting innocent women who have done nothing to him for whatever reason, as if he's on some kind of rampage that he can't control]]. John Marston is also capable of this too.

* ''Franchise/{{Hitman}}'': Not only is Agent 47 able to take innocent women hostage, but it's mandatory to knock out and even kill a number of them throughout the games. However, the female targets 47 hunts are criminals, and he treats both men and women the same way, regardless of gender. 47 would pretty much kill anything if it compromised his line of work. 47 actually shows his first ever sign of anger towards a female character; we're pretty sure that [[spoiler:if he got a hold of Diana before he passed out, things would have been ''pretty damn messy'']].
* ''VideoGame/HotlineMiami'': In the final chapter of Jacket's story, he manages to defeat and kill [[spoiler: the Bodyguard]] by throwing a trophy at her and violently bashing her head against the floor (even after she pushes him away, he grabs her again and continues) until she finally dies.
** Richter Berg (the man in the rat mask) makes his first direct appearance to Jacket after the latter discovers that Richter has [[spoiler: broken into his apartment and gunned down Jacket's girlfriend, who wasn't even his primary target]]. However, he could have had a rational reason for doing so (removing any potential witnesses from the scene, or perhaps she had attacked him first), rather than doing it out of direct malice towards Jacket.
* Cole in ''VideoGame/{{Infamous}}'' hits Sasha in the first game and in ''VideoGame/{{inFAMOUS 2}}'', it's [[spoiler:Kuo or Nix]] in the end, depending on which alignment he is on.

girl. But

* ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'': Sora doesn't pull punches against female opponents, be they actual villains (Maleficent, Ursula, Larxene) or sparring partners (Selphie, Yuffie, Tifa). Likewise, none of [[VideoGame/KingdomHeartsBirthBySleep Aqua's]] male opponents go easy on ''her''. [[ActionGirl Not that they need to.]] [[spoiler:As for Roxas, he had no choice in the matter in regards to Xion.]]
* The ''Franchise/{{Kirby}}'' series has various enemies like Lovely, Keke, and Iron Mam that Kirby fights and destroys without a thought. He also had no problems pummeling Ado and Adeleine (if they're the same character) in ''VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand3'' and ''VideoGame/Kirby64TheCrystalShards'' respectively when they were [[DemonicPossession possessed by Dark Matter.]] The {{Big Bad}}s, one [[TheDragon Dragon]], three CoDragons and a DarkActionGirl of ''VideoGame/KirbyCanvasCurse'', ''VideoGame/KirbyTripleDeluxe'', ''VideoGame/KirbyPlanetRobobot'', ''VideoGame/KirbyStarAllies'', and ''VideoGame/KirbyAndTheForgottenLand'', Drawcia, Sectonia, Susie, the Three Mage Sisters and Clawroline respectively, are also female yet Kirby destroyed both vile beings without hesitating and defeated the Dragons and Action Girl in their Boss Battles (but Susie survived and escaped, the Mage Sisters eventually get better if you recovered all 120 pure hearts and Clawroline survived her fight and later tasks Kirby to help revive her husband after the main game). Then again, Kirby is pretty much a KidHero so it likely never crosses his mind.
* The first of the ''VideoGame/KunioKun'' games, ''Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun'' (Japan) aka Renegade (US), had members of an all-girl gang the player had to fight against. Given, the pre-boss females had either a mace (US) or a handbag (Japan) for the weak-attack ladies and chain whips for the strong-attack ones, and the boss female is a BIG fighter who's only open to a running back kick.

* ''VideoGame/BlazBlue''. Of course, this would normally qualify the game as an unremarkable example, except for one thing: when the vast majority of the male characters do it, it seems to be mostly born of pragmatism, and in fact, [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Ragna]] and [[GentleGiant Tager]] both openly say that [[EverybodyHasStandards they have moral compunctions about hitting women]]. Moving the comics example to the main page. Deleted the other examples because it doesn't mention gender standards in-universe

* In ''Franchise/StreetFighter'''s case the cutscenes and the like invoke this to varying degrees. M. Bison had no problem blowing a hole through Rose's chest, Balrog was ready to punch Ibuki's pretty little face in, and Ed was an aversion instead trying to trick Ibuki and Mika before they figured out what he was up to.
** The comics plays this both ways. C. Viper was shown being able to beat Nash due to his [[WouldntHitAGirl hesitation to hit a woman]]. She even calls him out and she proceeds to lose to [[DesignatedGirlFight Ibuki]]. Ibuki then receives no such benefit against Ryu who takes her out in one hit afterwards.

Removing more examples that don't mention gender double standards in-universe

* In the ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'' franchise, there's plenty of main female villains in the series for Mario and Luigi to fight.
** In ''VideoGame/SuperPaperMario'':
*** While O'Chunks has no qualms using his shoulder tackle or stomp against Peach, he goes easier on her if he throws her, lightly tossing her over his head instead of using his usual spinning throw that sends the victim ricocheting around the screen. It hurts just as much, however. He also doesn't seem to proud of doing it either, as he doesn't do his HappyDance when he throws her.
*** Despite his romantic feelings for her, Bowser is also willing to harm Princess Peach. In ''VideoGame/SuperPrincessPeach'', Bowser attacks her using shoulder tackles (much like O'Chunks above), hammers, and his trademark fire breath. He'll also fight her, as well as Rosalina, in ''VideoGame/SuperMario3DWorld'', if either of the female characters are used in Castle levels he resides in.
** In the ''VideoGame/MarioParty'' series, female characters involved can be punched and kicked off of platforms in certain mini-games that require those actions, like in Lava Tile Isle, Magma Mayhem, or Slaparazzi, where the male characters participating have no qualms with punching or kicking the girls off the platforms. In most playthroughs of the Mario Party games often have Mario, Peach, Luigi and Daisy all going against each together with them sometimes knocking each other around. In story mode in any of the games and going against any of the boss fights, female characters are vulnerable to being attacked by the likes of enemies including Bowser himself. In general, everyone, both male and female, is willing to kill each other in order to retrieve stars and win.
** Mario and/or Luigi have no problem with quarreling with Wendy O Koopa.
** Wario too, at least his willingness to just as well battle Captain Syrup every third or so boss battle in ''VideoGame/WarioLandII'', and punch her out after her defeat in the endings. As he does against the Golden Diva from ''VideoGame/WarioLand4'' and [[spoiler:Terrormisu]] from ''[[VideoGame/WarioMasterOfDisguise Master of Disguise]]''.
* ''VideoGame/TalesOfMonkeyIsland'': [[spoiler:Near the end of Chapter 5, [=LeChuck=] strikes Elaine for trying to protect her undead husband Guybrush. Note that Elaine is the woman whose hand in marriage [=LeChuck=]'s sought for over a decade. It's mysterious how he expected her to accept him after that, but then again it's pretty mysterious how he ever expected her to fall for an evil undead criminal with a long history of attempting to kidnap her and force her into marriage.]]
* When Yuri and Judith are captured and imprisoned in Ghasforast in ''VideoGame/TalesOfVesperia'', they decide to distract the guards by beating each other up. They actually seem to be having a whale of a time. Seeing as they're both [[BloodKnight Blood Knights]], this isn't surprising. Meanwhile when the party fight [[spoiler: Schwann]] at Baction, he shows a certain reluctance to fight a 'lovely lady' like Judith, but this is probably more a hint that [[spoiler: Raven's still in there somewhere]], because he shows no reluctance about hitting Rita (though to be fair, she's [[{{tsundere}} always hitting people undeservedly]]) and Karol, a male child. The main villain also has no problem with capturing, torturing and brainwashing a female character.

Removing examples that don't mention in-universe acknowledgement of gender norms per the trope's redefinition.

* All ''Franchise/MortalKombat'' characters. Since plenty of Kombatants are women and just as eager to kill, any potential guilt is pretty much voided.
* ''VideoGame/RumbleRoses'' Has Sebastian, the only male in the game and he has no problem putting the Roses in their place during a wrestling match.
* ''VideoGame/SonicTheFighters'' has Amy Rose as a playable character. The other male fighters are just as hard on her as they are on each other. The remake (re)adds Honey the Cat as a second female.

* In '' VideoGame/SuperSmashBros'' women can very much get beaten up and thrown around by the male characters. That's not to mention [[WouldHurtAChild there are also kids involved...]] But since the characters are LivingToys, there's probably no real harm being done. Though because of [[WomenAreDelicate some social expectations]], when it comes to girls originally from child-friendly games, the girls all follow rules such as when they are [[StandardFemaleGrabArea grabbed]] to make their situation look less dangerous.
* ''VideoGame/TatsunokoVsCapcom'': Polimar has no qualms of hitting women, as seen in his winning quotes.

%%* ''VideoGame/TatsunokoVsCapcom'': Polimar has no qualms of hitting women, as seen in his winning quotes.

* ''VideoGame/ThrillKill'': Mammoth not only has to beat both genders of people to death in the game to get out of hell, but, in a fit of [[UnstoppableRage beastly aggression]] once back on Earth, grabs a little old lady from the street and [[spoiler: relentlessly shoves and pounds away at her body until she is completely inside a postbox.]]

* ''VideoGame/AlphaProtocol'': although most of the enemies in the game are male or, if female, are soldiers/fighters, there is an option during an early mission where the player can choose to perform a stealth knockout (with punching) or even a stealth kill on a pair of innocent female bystanders (dancers on a yacht).
* ''VideoGame/AmericanMcGeesAlice'': Alice should be so lucky; not only is every villain in the game willing to hit her, kill her, (eat her in some cases), but they do it with sadistic glee. The WouldHurtAChild Trope applies to them all too (not only towards her, but towards the Insane Children, [[VideoGame/AliceMadnessReturns even more so in the sequel]]. Even worse, [[spoiler:the main villain of the sequel is a pedophile and child molester. Chivalry doesn't exist in this game.]]
* Batman in the ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamSeries'' is entirely willing to hit his female opponents, who to be fair are trying to kill him. Notably however, his finishing moves on them do not include breaking bones, unlike his male opponents. Robin, Nightwing and Deathstroke, however, have no qualms about breaking their bones.
** He has much the same attitude in ''VideoGame/BatmanTheTelltaleSeries'', where in the final episode he engages in an extended and rather brutal fistfight with [[BigBad Lady Arkham]] (AKA [[spoiler:Vicki Vale[=/=]Victoria Arkham]]).
* The original ''VideoGame/{{Battletoads}}'' play this straight with the Dark Queen for obvious reasons (she's the final boss).
* Taken to a hilariously ridiculous extreme in the ''VideoGame/{{Battletoads}}'' / ''VideoGame/DoubleDragon'' IntercontinuityCrossover where, as one of the toads, you can grab the female {{Mook}} Linda ByTheHair, yank it, [[LiteralAssKicking give her a few swift kicks to the butt]], and then ''[[TheresNoKillLikeOverkill swing her by the hair and slam her into the ground repeatedly until she's defeated]]''.
** If playing as one of the dragon brothers, you grab their hair by the front and repeatedly punch them in the stomach instead, finishing with an uppercut. It's quite cathartic, since [[GoddamnedBats their whip attacks have a huge knockback effect and the area is filled with bottomless pits]].
* In ''VideoGame/{{Bayonetta}}'', the angels will attack anyone, ''especially'' the heroine and other Umbra Witches. (Not that Bayonetta doesn't welcome the chance to fight them.)

* ''[[VideoGame/{{Bomberman}} Super Bomberman R]]'': Magnet Bomber does it to Aqua... and [[BewareTheNiceOnes she makes him regret it]].

** For the record, in Bully you can also punish your girlfriend for cheating on you by shooting her in the face with a spud cannon. And the next time you want a kiss from her, all you need is some flowers. Unless you're a great artist, in which case she'll kiss you for free.

* Both the Shai-Gen and the Volk in ''VideoGame/{{Crackdown}}'' have female {{Mooks}}, as well as female [[EliteMook Generals]], and the Agent wastes them as easily as the men.
* ''VideoGame/{{Cuphead}}'': There are several female bosses that the eponymous protagonist and his brother Mugman have no problem attacking such as Hilda Berg, Baroness Von Bon Bon, Cala Maria, Rumor Honeybottoms, and Sally Stageplay (and, if you include the DLC, we can add Pilot Saluki and Esther Winchester to the list as well).
** The DLC also introduces Miss Chalice as a playable character. None of the male bosses go any less easy on her than they do the brothers.
* ''VideoGame/ADanceWithRogues'' includes characters who are perfectly fine with or creepily enthusiastic about abusing women, but the most prominent is [[TokenEvilTeammate Vico]].
* In ''VideoGame/DantesInferno'', there are several female enemies, including Cleopatra, who's the Boss of the Circle of Lust; Dante has no problem fighting them. (It helps that Cleopatra is a giant EldritchAbomination here.)
* The Chosen Undead from ''VideoGame/DarkSouls'' has no problem killing women. Apparently, the concept of chivalry doesn't exist in [[CrapsackWorld Lordran]], and given how dangerous [[GiantSpider Quelaag]] and [[CuteMonsterGirl Priscilla]] are, it makes sense.
* Parodied in the NES game ''VideoGame/DayDreaminDavey'', when Davey has to destroy the {{Cyclops}} in the "Ancient Greece" dreamland by striking him in the eye. It turns out that the "Cyclops" in his imagination is a girl in class... whom he just hit in the eye! OhCrap!
* In VideoGame/DeusExHumanRevolution, you can sucker punch (or slice up) anyone that takes your fancy, male or female. [[VideoGameCrueltyPotential This includes homeless people and patients at the hospital.]]
* ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry'':
** Dante has it with his boss fight against Lady. Also, his attempt to shoot Trish when she reveals her true colors of working for his archenemy, Mundus. Granted Dante is much more gentle with Lady and Trish than the female demons he faces and destroys with impunity (e.g Echidna from ''[[VideoGame/DevilMayCry4 DMC4]]''). This is seen in the [[Anime/DevilMayCryTheAnimatedSeries anime]] where he throws [[{{BFS}} Rebellion]] into between Lady and Trish to stop their duel, rather than physically forcing them apart like he easily could.
** Vergil likewise has no issue slicing down anyone who gets in his way, gender be damned. Lady learns this when she interrupted Dante and Vergil’s duel and was immediately put on the defensive as Vergil turned his attention to her and slashes at her with Yamato. If Dante wasn’t there, it’s likely Lady would be sliced to ribbons. [[spoiler: In ''[[VideoGame/DevilMayCry5 DMC5]]'' Vergil’s SuperPoweredEvilSide Urizen has no issue brutally beating both Trish and Lady and shoving them inside his minions as a LivingBattery]].
** Arkham/[[spoiler: Jester]] is quite a nasty example. [[spoiler: He tosses [[AbusiveParents his only daughter]] Lady off the massive tower that is the Temen-ni-gru (she only survives because of Dante catching her), slams her head into the floor in a later fight (even creepily threatening to spank her in his MonsterClown persona), stabs her in the thigh with her own bayonet as he needs her blood to open the Demon World and then sends her flying forcing Dante to save her again. Given Arkham sacrificed his own wife to become a demon prior to events of the story, it’s unsurprising]].
** Similarly the villains of ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry4'' Sanctus and Agnus have no qualms holding massive blades up to non-action girl Kyrie’s neck, knocking her unconscious and repeatedly threatening to kill her. Much to the rage of her brother of Credo and LoveInterest Nero.
** Nero [[spoiler: himself like his uncle]] is perfectly prepared to put the hurt onto female demons as seen in his fight with Echidna.
* Both, the heroes and villains in the ''VideoGame/DoubleDragon'' series, have no qualms about beating up women. Williams punches Marian before taking off with her during the opening of the original game, while the Lee brothers are required to beat up the whip-wielding Linda enemies (among the various other thugs they face) in order to fulfill their mission.
* In ''VideoGame/DragonAgeOrigins'' you can kill female enemies in just as gory a fashion as male ones.
** This includes two of your female party members if you cross their MoralEventHorizon.
* In ''VideoGame/TheElderScrollsVSkyrim'', the player character will frequently fight and kill female opponents. This is not considered unusual or socially unacceptable in the setting. The player can also sometimes perform "finishing moves" on enemies that result in fairly gory kill sequences, and these can be performed on female enemies the same as male enemies.
** If you complete a quest for the priestesses of Dibella (goddess of women, among other things), you are blessed with a permanent damage bonus against the opposite sex. Meaning, if you play as a male character, the goddess of women has specifically blessed you with the ability to murder women more efficiently.
* ''VideoGame/AnEgyptianTale'' have you assuming the role of an Egyptian WarriorPrincess battling Anubis' cult, and the cult's members have no qualms trying to stab, skewer, impale, poison or roast your character.
* In ''VideoGame/TheElderScrollsOnline'', the player characters will also frequently fight and kill female opponents. Looks like in Tamriel, misogyny doesn't exist, WouldntHitAGirl is laughable idea and what matters are [[WouldNotHurtAChild your age]] and your uniform.

to:

* ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry'':

Vico]].

** Throughout the series you get all kinds of nasty women attacking you, from homicidal cannibalistic raiders, to slavers to mercs who are contracted to kill you. They'll happily attack you with baseball bats, knives, pistols, assault rifles, and grenades. Killing them (preferably by [[YourHeadAsplode exploding their heads]]) is necessary for your own survival. Sexism is most definitely obsolete in the wasteland.
* The ''Franchise/FinalFantasy'' series. Pretty much everyone. The exceptions are listed on the WouldntHitAGirl Page;
** ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyV'':
*** Bartz smacks Krile for being cheeky at one point, but as she [[spoiler: was newly empowered by Galuf's inherited abilities]] knocks him across the balcony in retaliation. He doesn't do it again after that.
*** If you choose 'yes' to killing the wind drake in a flashback, King Tycoon hits Lenna fairly hard.
** ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII''
*** Sephiroth would ''absolutely'' hit a girl. [[ItWasHisSled Or]] [[KillTheCutie stab]], whatever.
*** Poor Aerith gets a lot of this. Minor villain Tseng gives Aerith a backhand early on, and even our hero Cloud gets in on this, giving her a misplaced beating (although he ''was'' mind-controlled by Sephiroth at the time, and was ''very'' sorry about it afterwards).
*** In the [[DoomedHomeTown Nibelheim]] FlashBack Sephiroth ruthlessly cuts down Tifa with Masamune almost killing her. In the [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIIRemake remake]], Sephiroth shows explicit visions to Cloud of him killing Tifa and [[KickTheDog reveals he personally killed Cloud’s mom too]], both these instances made TheHero really mad.
*** The Turks, Reno and Rude in particular, generally have no problems fighting the female members of the party. Though with that said, Rude has a crush on Tifa and [[WouldntHitAGirl will only use status effect spells on her]] if she’s the only one left standing. In the [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIIRemake remake]], Rude will still fight the female party members but will not use his strong attacks on them (he has an excuse for Aerith, he has orders to make sure she’s unharmed; on the other hand, Rude just doesn’t want to hurt Tifa due to his VillainousCrush). Tseng’s slapping of Aerith was also omitted in the remake, to better line up with his ''VideoGame/CrisisCore'' characterization where he actually cares greatly for Aerith.

''Franchise/FinalFantasy'':

** In ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX'' Tidus, Wakka, Kimhari, and Auron deliver no mercy to female opponents, as seen when they kill Lady Yunalesca. Although it helps that Yunalesca barely resembles a human once she goes OneWingedAngel in their boss fight and starts revealing her tentacles and Medusa head.
** In ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyTacticsA2'', when Adelle smacks Luso during an argument, he smacks her right back. She [[HypocriticalHumor gets indignant]] that he'd hit a girl, but he points out that she started it.
* Takumi in ''VideoGame/FireEmblemFates'' falls into this to varying degrees. In ''Birthright'', while under the control of the enemy, he turns against his allies, even grabbing and trying to strangle Azura in Chapter 25. In ''Conquest'', he shoots Elise with his Fujin Yumi in Chapter 13, [[DisproportionateRetribution simply for talking back to him]], [[spoiler:and it's implied that this is caused by him gradually falling under Anankos' sway]]. In his supports with Hana, he mentions that the only reason he held back in their sparring match was because he was hesitant to hurt his younger sister Sakura's best friend while Sakura herself was watching.
* Gene has no problem hitting the female villains in ''VideoGame/GodHand'', such as Shannon, and his super-move he can use to finish them is [[KinkySpanking to spank them]]. (Of course, [[TooKinkyToTorture Shannon might actually]] ''[[MsFanservice like]]'' that...)
* ''VideoGame/GodOfWar''. Kratos has no problems whatsoever harming women or men alike, because he sees everyone as equally worthless. Yes, he's pretty much a VillainProtagonist.
** ''Very'' slightly averted at times, specifically when said woman reminds Kratos of his late wife or child for whatever reason. That usually cools him off a bit. Maybe. And temporarily.
** Thoroughly averted by the fourth game: Kratos won't attack anyone that isn't attacking him, but he has ''zero'' compunction with utterly trashing the Valkyries and literally ripping them apart. [[spoiler: He also doesn't lay a finger on Freya, because she's an ally for most of the story, and when she turns against Kratos and Atreus after the death of Baldur, she's not actively offering violence, and as a result, he doesn't offer violence, either.]]

* ''VideoGame/MadWorld'' Jack apparently has no problem with hitting women. From female boss fights to the mayor's daughter. Although the finishers on the female bosses are quite a bit less violent than those of Male bosses, however that's not saying a lot for this [[UltraSuperDeathGoreFestChainsawer3000 game]].
* ''Franchise/MassEffect'':
** Shepard -- regardless of gender -- has a Renegade option to punch a female reporter who has been asking him/her trick questions aimed to either ruin his/her reputation, or to estrange humanity from alien species. As the reporter in question was exceedingly punch-worthy for reasons unrelated to her gender. The option is even repeated in the second game. [[RunningGag And the third]], though this time she's wised up a bit and dodges. Then Shepard ''headbutts'' her.
** The series in general follows the trope, as many enemy and friendly combatants are female (and not just the [[OneGenderRace feminine Asari]]). Nobody, Renegade or Paragon, seems to have any qualms about gunning them down.
** The third game also includes a cut scene during one of the optional side missions where Shepard, as he goes to rescue a character who has been kidnapped by a male and a female mercenary duo, delivers a surprisingly vicious punch to the stomach of the female baddie -- so much so it's strongly implied she may be dead.

* ''VideoGame/PokemonGoldAndSilver''/''Crystal'' and ''[=HeartGold/SoulSilver=]'' has Rival Silver, a mean kid abusing his Pokémon and most of the time pushing the player out of the way and even seemingly even kicking one in the butt. You can play this as either boy or girl in ''Crystal'', ''[=HeartGold=]'' and ''[=SoulSilver=]''.
* ''VideoGame/{{Postal}}'' gives the player the ability to kill ''anybody''.
* In ''VideoGame/{{Prototype}}'', there is exactly one female optional target in the Web of Intrigue, and Alex will attack, kill, and [[IAmAHumanitarian eat]] her the way he will every male target: viciously. Depending on the player, he'll extend the courtesy to female civilians. Elizabeth Greene is not excluded from being beaten to death and devoured, though refraining from hitting her [[HumanoidAbomination probably doesn't count as chivalry]]. Alex likely doesn't care either way because [[AntiHero he's a bastard]] [[spoiler:and because gender-specific human rules like chivalry are stupid when you're not human, lack inborn sexual characteristics, and can switch gender like switching hats]].
** The [[ArmiesAreEvil Black]][[StateSec watch]] creed does not make exceptions for comrades, countrymen, or non-combatants; it ''definitely'' makes none based on sex. If they may be contaminated, women get gunned down just like men.
* [[Franchise/RatchetAndClank Ratchet]] has no trouble with fighting the [[VideoGame/RatchetAndClank2002 Alien Queen]], [[VideoGame/RatchetAndClankUpYourArsenal the Momma Tyhrranoid]], [[VideoGame/RatchetAndClankUpYourArsenal Courtney Gears]] or [[VideoGame/RatchetAndClankFutureACrackInTime Cassiopeia]]. There is also [[spoiler:[[VideoGame/RatchetAndClankGoingCommando Angela Cross]]]], but he [[SamusIsAGirl didn't know about her gender at the time]].

** Just like in sister series ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAuto'', you can create a female character online... and no one cares about your gender, as opponents will try to kill you, punch and bruise your face in, hogtie and throw you around like a ragdoll before feeding you to a bear, etc.
* The male protagonists and plenty of the villains of ''Franchise/ResidentEvil'' will happily take down female foes, although a lot said of females are zombies, controlled by parasites or lose a lot of their feminine attributes when they inevitably turn into monsters.
** Chris in ''[[VideoGame/ResidentEvilCodeVeronica Code Veronica]]'' was willing to blow the shit of Alexia Ashford both before and after she went OneWingedAngel. In ''[[VideoGame/ResidentEvil6 RE6]]'' Chris along with Piers furiously hunt Ada [[spoiler: actually Carla]] (who's an unarmored woman only equipped with a grappling gun and a flashbang) and repeatedly shoot at her with their assault rifles. Given “Ada” slaughtered all their teammates, Chris’s actions are justified even if Leon steps in to stop him.
** Leon himself besides killing females opponents like the Bella Sisters in ''[[VideoGame/ResidentEvil4 RE4]]'', doesn’t hold back from fighting Ada and President Svetlana Belikova when they attack him. He also almost strangled Ada when the Plaga started taking control of his actions forcing Ada to stab him in self defence, though Leon immediately regrets this action. This probably a one time occurrence since Ada actually trusts in Leon’s unwillingness to shoot her as seen when they meet in ''Anime/ResidentEvilDamnation'' and Leon points his assault rifle at her, while she points a grapple gun at him.
** BigBad Wesker isn’t chivalrous in the slightest. In ''[[VideoGame/ResidentEvil RE1]]'' [[ShootTheMedicFirst he guns down a unarmed Rebecca]] without hesitation (she only survives because her vest is bulletproof). In ''Code Veronica'' (where he now has superpowers) Wesker smacks Claire across the room, puts his foot on her shoulder and kicks her in the face when she tries getting up. In ''[[VideoGame/ResidentEvil5 RE5]]'' Wesker happily beats the shit out of Jill and Sheva (he will put his hand straight through them if given the chance), [[spoiler: and even experiments on Jill, shoving a MindControlDevice into her sternum which turns into a ShockCollar when she starts disobeying him]].
** When the player plays as Ashley in ''[=RE4=]'' the mooks who just carry her CPU version away have no problems strangling her to death and even snapping her neck. Though some enemies are just as willing to hit Ashley as they are Leon.
** Chief Irons is a particularly despicable example especially in the ''[[VideoGame/ResidentEvil2Remake RE2make]]''. He holds Claire at gunpoint and tied her up before kicking her in the chest and smacking her in the face in front of Sherry and it’s revealed he’s a wife beating SerialKiller who has raped and killed multiple women and used their bodies for [[TaxidermyIsCreepy taxidermy]]. Also when playing as Sherry there’s a NonStandardGameOver of Irons catching and dragging Sherry behind a door implying WouldHurtAChild too. It’s darkly ironic as a news article reveals Irons supports battered women shelters.
** Simmons the BigBad of ''[=RE6=] '' is just as bad as Wesker and Irons when it comes to this, if not worse. Due to his VillainousCrush on Ada he sought to clone her, so kidnapped literally ''thousands'' of women trying make a perfect replica of her and only after 12,235 attempt was it successful. Towards the game he wastes no expense trying to kill Ada after she rejects him as well as Carla (the EvilKnockOff Ada) for betraying him.
** Tyrant T-00 aka Mr X, especially in ''[=RE2make=]'' proves his brutality is unisex as he will MegatonPunch Claire and Ada as hard as he does Leon when given the chance, sometimes knocking Claire in particular right down a staircase. Mr X will also crush their heads if they can’t break free from him. Though for story reasons, Claire and Ada are spared from Super Tyrant’s [[ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice stabbing attack]] unlike Leon.
** Similarly TheDreaded Nemesis from ''[[VideoGame/ResidentEvil3Nemesis RE3]]'' is characterised by his merciless violence towards Jill. In ''[[VideoGame/ResidentEvil3Remake RE3make]]'', Nemmy subjects poor Jill to multiple [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown No Holds Barred Beatdowns]]. From the same game there’s also Nikolai who at one point stomps Jill’s fingers while she’s dangling off a platform and knocks her down in the climax.
** Ethan from ''[[VideoGame/ResidentEvil7 RE7]]'' does not hesitate to fight off and kill Mia (his wife) and Marguerite when they attack him having been infected with TheVirus. Although Mia survives thanks to her HealingFactor and is cured in the GoldenEnding. [[spoiler: Ethan also destroys Eveline in the FinalBattle though she’s not technically a real girl/old woman just a HumanoidAbomination]]. In ''VideoGame/ResidentEvilVillage'' Ethan is perfectly willingly to pump Lady Dimitrescu, her three daughters, Donna Beneviento and Mother Miranda full of lead and since they're all trying to kill him/suck his blood, it's perfectly justified.
* ''VideoGame/ReturnToKrondor'' plays this trope straight. Bear not only hit Talia, but he murdered her and worse. There are only a few enemies that are female, but your male characters can kill them without any comment (the one female character you play makes no comment about that, either). Those few female enemies would cheerfully kill you anyway. The mostly male enemies are completely willing to kill anyone, regardless of gender. In fact, BigBad Bear says "You will give me the Tear, or we will slaughter you to the last man! And...wooman!" That does not even cover the goblins, vampires, ghouls and other creatures.
* Like in other examples listed above, the ''VideoGame/SaintsRow'' games starting with the [[VideoGame/SaintsRow2 second one]] allow you to opt to make your player character a female. The player character's gender does not affect any interactions towards them at all, as their various enemies can and will deliver [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown No-Holds-Barred Beatdowns]] onto them.
* Ryo of ''VideoGame/{{Shenmue}}'' seems to have this as a running thing. In the first game, at the Harbor, he kicks the asses of some girls who are being [[{{Jerkass}} very rude and hurtful]] towards him, and in the second game, he can potentially take on CuteBruiser, OptionalBoss Izumi. Maybe somebody would inform Ryo that beating up girls in school uniforms is really not socially acceptable.

Added DiffLines:

* The ''VideoGame/LikeADragon'' series has a general rule against its protagonists fighting women, ''especially'' in regards to leading man Kazuma Kiryu. This makes it notable when this philosophy is waived:
** Tanimura, one of the new protagonists of ''VideoGame/Yakuza4'', is the first to show no compunctions with fighting against women, and features the first battle against a woman when he spars with his training master Nair[[note]]well, first battle excluding the DisguisedInDrag woman from a ''Yakuza 1'' substory that still used a male model[[/note]]. Him being one of the youngest protagonists, and not honor-bound to traditional values such as with the ex-yakuza member Kiryu, may be the reason for his differing ideals.
** ''VideoGame/YakuzaLikeADragon'' came out in 2020 and featured the first playable women in the mainline series to engage in combat alongside their male peers. Perhaps as a reflection of the more modernized setting, the game is a little less stringent with the idea that hitting a woman under any circumstance is a big no-no, with multiple protagonists (including a few from previous entries) having no problem with attacking your female party members when they need to.
