* In a perfect example of BreakTheCutie, Alessa Gillespie from ''Film/SilentHill'' was burned alive by the cult she was a member of, but survived by her own power and remained wrapped in bandages for 30 years, unable to move anything but her eyes (and her lips, but only enough to kind of smile, but not enough to form words). \n* As we learn more of Darryl Revok's backstory in ''Film/{{Scanners}}'', it becomes increasingly apparent that he became a psychic supremacist with ambitions of world conquest due to all the abuse he suffered because of his supernatural abilities. He tranformed his inferiority complex into a superiority complex to cope with being called a freak and locked up in a mental asylum for years, as pointed out by Dr. Paul Ruth:
-->'''Dr. Ruth:''' At the age of 22 he was extremely self-destructive; now at the age of 35 he is ''simply'' destructive.

* Elsa from ''{{Disney/Frozen}}'' is forced to hide her powers (which she has no clue how to control), isolate herself from everyone, including her sister whom she loves more than anything, and repress all emotion to stop her powers from acting up. She tries ''so hard'' to be a good person and be TheWomanWearingTheQueenlyMask, and wants so badly to reconnect with her sister, but can't, out of fear of hurting her like she did when she was younger. And it all completely backfires, makes her powers reveal themselves at the worst possible moment, prompting Elsa to go on a self-imposed exile in a frozen wasteland. How does she respond? By singing a ([[CrowningMusicOfAwesome gorgeous]]) IAmBecomingSong about how she no longer cares what anyone will say about her powers, finally allowing herself to free and discovering the full extent of her abilities. Which, unfortunately, is accidentally encompassing the entire kingdom in an EndlessWinter. When Elsa finds out what she's done, she's devastated. *sniff* Poor girl...
