* Broly from ''Manga/DragonBall Z'' is heavily implied to be this in the Eighth movie. The movie heavily implies that his destructive nature, even by Saiyan standards, as well as his overall insanity was the direct result of life-threatening factors from his birth, such as his nearly dying from a stab wound commissioned by King Vegeta simply because he feared his power level, and then having to witness Frieza destroy his home planet. Then his father places a [[HypnoTrinket slave crown]] on Broly and uses him to destroy several planets for his [[EvilPlan plan to get revenge on Vegeta]] for what his father attempted to do to Broly and himself.

He doesn't exactly want to destroy the world...but he is willing to [[WalkingDisasterArea walk a path of destruction]] to get to where he wants to be, [[ImplacableMan and he doesn't care who the hell gets in his way]]. Some say that Guts' quest to destroying the Godhand [[DeathSeeker is suicidal]] and his seething hatred for the Apostles [[HeWhoFightsMonsters is just as horrific]], and there ''might'' have been some truth to that before [[WhatTheHellHero he got a call back]] to what was most important to him: protecting the woman that he loves, Casca. That's right. [[StarCrossedLovers These two]] were unfortunate enough to have gone through the worse shit imaginable, and it will all end with both of them [[spoiler:spending an eternity in hell]] thanks to their former friend making an epic FaceHeelTurn. The only way to spare he and his lover of this horrible fate in the ''smallest'' way possible? Kill the LegionsOfHell by himself!

* ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'' [[spoiler:FillerVillain]] Shusuke Amagai [[spoiler:infiltrated]] Soul Society in order to set about the downfall of the Kasumioji clan, [[spoiler:as well as obtain the power and opportunity to kill]] Captain-Commander Yamamoto, all because [[InSeriesNickname Old Man Yama]] [[spoiler:killed his father]] and it had something to do with [[spoiler:the [[DangerousForbiddenTechnique Dangerous Forbidden Weapons]] being developed by]] the Kasumioji. He thought that [[spoiler:Yamamoto was just covering his own ends for being involved with the Bakkoto project.]] Turns out, [[spoiler:it was Central 46, not Yamamoto, which refused to bring them down, and in fact, Shusuke's dad went to conduct a covert op for Yamamoto to take them down and ended up being overtaken by the Bakkoto.]]
** [[TheHero Ichigo]] himself narrowly avoids becoming one in both the Fullbring arc, where he crosses the DespairEventHorizon due to [[spoiler:the majority of his friends and family being turned agains him by the BigBad, even going so far as to consider murdering him]], and in the Fourth movie, where he [[spoiler:lets his SuperPoweredEvilSide take over so that he can avenge the death of his sister, even though he nearly ends up creating HellOnEarth.]]

** And then there's [[spoiler:[[BigBad Tobi, aka Obito Uchiha]]. [[LoveMakesYouEvil Kakashi let the girl he had a crush on die]], and you all know what happened next.]]

As revenge against the government who massacred his people, he becomes a SerialKiller who exclusively targets state alchemists. [[spoiler:Fortunately, in both manga and [[Anime/FullmetalAlchemist the first anime]], he gets better.]]

* For the love of God, [[SoulEater Crona.]] Words cannot describe the sheer amount of horrible trauma s/he has gone through, mostly at the hands of her/his own MOTHER.

He's in constant pain that can only be subdued by drug dosages that double ''twice'' over the course of the series. His dealings with people, hatred of his flawed body and the people who ensured that he was born that way, [[spoiler:his emotional pain over his ParentalAbandonment, and being a clone and thus seeing himself with no "identity" of his own]] eventually became a bitterness towards humanity in general. He descends into full NietzscheWannabe territory, convinced that HumansAreBastards who only inflict pain and suffering on others, not least of all himself. [[spoiler:Aware that his own existence cannot be considered human and is more or less the personification of mankind's sins, he took it upon himself to be the JudgeJuryAndExecutioner of humanity, and in a very literal bid to ''make the pain stop,'' he tried to KillAllHumans, and nearly succeeded]].

* Ryner from ''TheLegendOfTheLegendaryHeroes''.

This trope is also played straight with him during the Bloody Sunday strip, in which he [[GoMadFromTheRevelation snaps]] and [[FreakOut starts to mow down his own people]] on the grounds that "they're not ''really'' Russians if they don't love me".

** Also, at the end of ''[[RebuildofEvangelion Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0]]'', [[spoiler:Shinji [[BerserkButton completely snaps]] after Zeruel eats Rei and decides that he's had enough with the world toying with him. This leads to a literal SaveTheGirlScrewTheWorld moment, and only Kaworu's [[BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork timely arrival]] stopped the Third Impact and a [[ApocalypseHow Class-5 apocalypse]].]]

** Similarly, Moe/Molly from [[Anime/{{Pokemon3}} the third movie]] is a lonely little girl whose mother is long gone and her father is sucked into the Unown dimension. As she cracks under the pressure, the Unown try to make little Molly's wishes come true and transform the mansion into a crystal palace, finally creating an Entei as Molly's father. Said Entei happens to be loyal to Molly to an insane level, kidnapping Ash's mother Delia to make her Molly's mom. [[spoiler: And then the Unown's powers start going haywire...]]

* [[BrokenBird Izayoi Aki]] from ''{{Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds}}'' ''epitomizes'' this trope for episodes 40 and 41. After watching her friend and mentor Divine [[spoiler:plunge to his horrifying death, while the only place she'd ever really felt at home in collapses in flames around her]], she wakes up from a coma where she relived ''every single horrible moment of her life'' all at once to the face of Yuusei, who she already feels conflicted about - and [[ParentalAbandonment her parents]], of all people. Destroying the world from there, though, yes, seems like DisproportionateRetribution, is not that much of a stretch.

* Yami [[spoiler:Atem]] from ''{{Yu-Gi-Oh}}'' becomes this for a bit in the Doma saga after he loses Yugi - ''especially'' during his duel with Haga. Oh, silly Haga, didn't you know that pretending to destroy the soul of a highly protective and emotionally unstable (and once-AxeCrazy) ancient spirit's partner was just asking for a one-way ticket down ''extreme-pain-and-death'' lane?

* ''Anime/PokemonTheFirstMovie'': Mewtwo's motivations for wanting to destroy the planet in the first movie becomes a lot more understandable after remembering that the only humans he was exposed to prior to the events of the movie were the apathetic scientists who created him as well as Giovanni and Team Rocket, who were well known for exploiting pokemon for profit and sometimes even slaughtering them at worst.

** A subversion in ''MagicalRecordLyricalNanohaForce'': the Huckebein family seems become this. But their unsympathetic actions, like slaughtering entire villages and communities is not a justifications for their reason to survive.

** Knives actually has a shot at qualifying as this in the manga, at least during the flashback. During the main storyline, he's a {{Jerkass}} extraordinaire with a dash of "TheDarkSideWillMakeYouForget", but [[TheyWouldCutYouUp the story]] of [[PoweredByAForsakenChild Tesla]] would [[GoMadFromTheRevelation put anyone off]] [[HumansAreBastards the human race]], especially [[IJustWantToBeLoved a cute little kid who just wanted to be accepted]]...

** Malik Ishtar became cynical and evil from his father's abuse of him including a painful tattoo covering his whole back and that's not getting into his CompleteMonster alter ego.

** In Part II, [[RivalTurnedEvil Sasuke Uchiha]] becomes this...up until the point where his goals shift from "avenge my wrongfully murdered family" to "murder every person in Konoha because they didn't treat my family like gods".
