* Weisman also planned to make Mary Jane to become Peter's main love interest eventually but he wanted to imitate their romance in the comics and their parallel character development, whereby both of them would mature with RomanticFalseLead (Mark Allen for MJ, Liz and Gwen for Peter) before starting their relationship for real.

He also talked about integrating other Marvel characters and spinning them off into their own shows. This included the Human Torch (leading to a ComicBook/FantasticFour spin-off), Captain America and the Hulk (leading to an ComicBook/{{Avengers}} spin-off), and Beast and Cyclops (leading to an ComicBook/XMen spin-off). Part of the trade-off with not being able to use the Kingpin was that Weisman considered making a ComicBook/{{Daredevil}} spin-off.

* The Scorpion, the Hobgoblin, Hydro-Man and [[Characters/MarvelComicsCarnage Carnage]] were slated to appear in the third season of the series. Roderick Kingsley, Morris Bench and Cletus Kasady both had brief [[Main/EarlyBirdCameo cameos]] in the second season, with Kingsley voiced by Courtney B. Vance and Bench by Creator/BillFagerbakke. Mac Gargan is also mentioned as a private investigator who works for Jameson, and fans have had fun picking out extras in the background who might have been him; this is encouraged by Weisman himself, who indicated that minor characters like Tombstone's driver were intended as secret cameos.
