Dooku\'s actions aren\'t What An Idiot because he knows very well he\'s going to die but that there\'s nothing he can do about it. Who do you think Anakin is going to believe? Dooku (whom he hates and who is the leader of the opposition) or his best friend/leader Palpatine? Dooku\'s very well aware of this and he would rather go out with his pride intact than beg. It\'s much more of an example of Honor Before Reason than an inexplicable action. Also, in regards to the books, Dooku did actually beg in the novels. It was purposefully changed in the movies because Christopher Lee said Dooku\'s character was such that he would never beg for his life no matter the circumstances.

I deleted it again because even if one ignores What Could Have Been (which I think is relevant simply because the above is not an instance of What An Idiot so much as is it an example of a character who is too proud to beg) but also because the complaint is unfounded. Dooku knows that Palpatine is not going to care even if he begs and Anakin isn\'t going to listen to him over his friend the Chancellor. Plus, c\'mon man, it\'s Christopher Lee. And people complain that Lucas doesn\'t take input from the actors...

At the very least, he would say something to placate him. Something like, "Always in motion is the future. Do not be reckless."\\
