* SpiritualSuccessor: To Homer's ''Literature/TheOdyssey'', ''Literature/AliceInWonderland'', ''TheWizardOfOz''...really, to a great many famous stories, especially those written around the archetype of TheQuest.

* RealityEnsues: Possibly unintentional, but when the trio finds themselves in Looney Land, they meet Sir Leonard Loonie, who acts like your standard (if rather exaggerated) WackyGuy. How do the kids react? By getting annoyed at his pranks, then scared because he won't leave them alone and finally running away.

** The first two are interesting examples because [[ObliviouslyEvil neither character who sings it seems to be aware that they're villains]].

Raggedy Ann is voiced by Didi Conn, who would later star as Frenchie in the ''{{Grease}}'' musicals as well as the ''Series/ShiningTimeStation'' and ''WesternAnimation/ThomasTheTankEngine'' TV series. Joe Raposo (''Series/SesameStreet'') wrote the songs. It was EricGoldberg's first professional animation gig.

* OverlyLongGag: The Captain is so out of shape that it takes him what seems like several minutes to climb over the railing of the balcony on Babette's dollhouse. It's worth noting that RichardWilliams has [[AuthorAppeal a tendency to do this a lot]] just to have more animation for it's own sake.
