** Sienna pushed the White Fang to adopt a more violent philosophy, and is willing to use violence when needed to further her goals. However, she ultimately wants respect and equality for the Faunus after the decades of racism and mistreatment they suffered, and she condemns Adam's attack on Beacon as excessive & foolish as it would just go to prove people's prejudices right. Adam kills her in a coup, believing that she's too soft and that humans should serve the Faunus. Ghira even admits that while he doesn't condone Sienna's methods, he does condone her intentions.

Meanwhile, by the same token, Adam is a discussed case of Not So Well Intentioned Extremist because his motives were entirely villainous — he just fooled people for a while (which is built into the NSWIE trope). I'm moving his entry to that page.

** DiscussedTrope: Blake originally believes that Adam shares her idealism for a world where humans and Faunus peacefully co-exist. Even though she left the organization because of his extremism, she still believes that he's just gone too far in pursuit of a noble goal and spends the first three volumes describing him to others in this way. It isn't until the very end of Volume 3 that Blake realizes that Adam never shared her dream when he tells her it's impossible to achieve; instead, he helps the villains destroy Beacon Academy, and vows to kill everyone Blake loves to punish her for abandoning him. In Volume 5, she clarifies her evolving thought process to Sun as a case of MotiveMisidentification, initially thinking he stood for justice or passion until eventually realising that he only symbolised spite. She then explains to Yang in Volume 6 that his true power comes from his ability to control the people around him and bring them down to his level; this causes Yang to later ask Adam if Blake's vow of loyalty to him was really made to him or to the person he was pretending to be, indicating that she believes Blake's MotiveMisidentification was caused by Adam deliberately fooling her.

That's one of the longest violations of Justifying Edits that I've seen for a while. Fixing this entry. He's a straight example of Well Intentioned Extremist because a WIE is a villain who has a hero's motives, but becomes a villain through the methods they use to try and achieve that goal. That is exactly how Ironwood transforms from a hero into a villain — his motives remain the same as the heroes, but his belief that the only way to save lives, the Relics and the Winter Maiden is by sacrificing his own humanity turns him into a full-blown villain.

** In Volume 7, Ironwood engages in increasingly authoritarian measures to deal with the threat Salem poses to the Kingdom of Atlas. He institutes a military curfew on Mantle, justifying the oppression to keep Salem's agents out of the kingdom. He intends on blowing the secret of Salem wide-open, despite knowing this will trigger massive Grimm assaults that will cause panic, devastation and chaos, arguing that the Atlesian military can handle the fall-out. [[spoiler:He plans to have Winter take the Winter Maiden powers by having her manipulate the dying Winter Maiden to control who's in her last thoughts. When he learns that Team RWBY has been keeping secrets from him and leaked intel to Robyn, he orders Winter to take the Winter Maiden powers by force, declares martial law to sideline the Atlesian council and declares the intention to raise Atlas high into the heavens, abandoning Mantle to its fate. His argument is that it's impossible to save both cities from Salem and the Grimm so he needs to cut his losses and just save Atlas. He then orders the arrest of anyone who isn't on board with his plan.]]
*** This is arguably deconstructed however, as for all of Ironwood's best intentions, many of his extreme actions not only alienate many of his own allies, but can be seen as completely unnecessary (or at the very least extremely poorly thought out) decisions as well. [[spoiler:He would not have needed to put Mantle under curfew if he had been more willing to devote resources to improving their infrastructure (especially since he had taken a large amount of their resources from them to build a new global communications tower, which had the side effect of leaving Mantle with a giant hole in one of its defenses), thus giving them less reason to rebel against him. While the tower intended to restore communications and reveal Salem's existence is generally a good thing, the secrecy behind it also causes him to alienate potential allies who could have helped him if he had been willing to trust them, such as Mantle hero Robyn Hill. As a result and because of the Mantle resource issue, she doesn't have any reason to trust him for a good portion of Volume 7 until she's let in on the situation. His attempts to control who becomes the next Winter Maiden also ignores that the Winter Maiden herself might not necessarily give her powers to his chosen candidate, and that said candidate is aware of his manipulation. Finally, his intent to abandon Mantle has two serious problems, given that he also alienates the only group of people (Team RWBY and Team JNPR..and Qrow) who actually have any direct experience against her and understand her methods better than most, but in addition is driven more by his all-encompassing fear of Salem. He also ignores the fact that given her means of coming in, it would only be a matter of time before she'd be able to create a means to catch up to Atlas, especially since it would be isolated from the rest of Remnant. Finally, this doesn't factor in that she could easily use Atlas' abandonment of Mantle against Ironwood, as it would not be taken well by the rest of the world and likely divide humanity even more, making them easy pickings for her.]] As such, for all of his stated intentions, his extreme actions come off as less an intent to do the right thing, and more as him not being able to accept doing anything that isn't under his complete supervision and control, a mindset that ends up causing him MORE problems.

She then explains to Yang in Volume 6 that his true power comes from his ability to control the people around him and bring them down to his level; this causes Yang to later ask Adam if her vow of loyalty to him was really made to him or to the person he was pretending to be, indicating that she believes Blake's MotiveMisidentification was caused by Adam deliberately fooling her.

Even though she left the organization because of his extremism, she still believes that he's just gone too far in pursuit of a noble goal and spends the first three volumes describing him to others in this way. ** Sienna Khan pushed the White Fang to adopt a more violent philosophy, and is willing to use violence when needed to further her goals. However, she ultimately wants respect and equality for the Faunus after the decades of racism and mistreatment they suffered, and she condemns Adam's attack on Beacon as excessive & foolish as it would just go to prove people's prejudices right. Ghira even admits that while he doesn't condone Sienna's methods, he does condone her intentions. This is inaccurate information in the extreme in all ways, and Cinder Fall has been ruled a Complete Monster, ergo she cannot qualify as a Well Intentioned Extremist.

** Cinder Fall herself also qualifies, as all of her actions are out of a desire to overthrow Ozpin's cabal for their actions regarding their soldiers, their censorship of world history, and her personal dislike of Ozpin's arrogance. The same also applies to her boss Salem who she seems to have gotten her views from.
