The new site is operated in a much looser format, with albums rated by a simple "thumbs up/thumbs down" dichotomy, and the artist rankings nonexistent. The blog is updated daily, with a ''ton'' of new artists previously unmentioned on the old site. Starostin is currently grinding through his entire music collection alphabetically; so massive is said collection that having started with the bands beginning with A in 2009, he has barely hit C. There has been speculation among readers (and Starostin himself) about [[LongRunner how long it will take him to finish.]]

* BiasSteamroller:
** Mostly averted with his newer reviews on his blog. While George still prefers artists from the 1963-1976 period, he does love some new artists as well, such as Music/ArcadeFire and Music/{{Bjork}}, and even appreciates Music/AvrilLavigne!. He at least makes an honest attempt to judge a new artist with an open mind first.
** Played straight, however, on his old website; best demonstrated by the grand total of ''four'' artists in the top "A" ranking: Music/TheBeatles, Music/TheRollingStones, Music/TheWho, and Music/BobDylan.
** It's also worth noting that George declines from reviewing rap music for this very reason, since he does not show appreciation for the genre.
* CausticCritic: Generally averted, but a few artists in particular seem to draw his ire more than the rest, even on their highest-rated albums.
* DeadpanSnarker
* DontLikeDontRead: Begins each artist page with one of these.
* IncrediblyLamePun: A few, but he gets away with them anyway.
* PrecisionFStrike: At times.

George Starostin is a Russian linguist, better known as a rock music critic. Beginning in 1998, he operated the massive music review site [[http://starling.rinet.ru/music/index.htm Only Solitaire]] (title taken from a JethroTull song). He called it quits in 2007, but the site remained online, and Starostin returned to music criticism in 2009 with the [[http://only-solitaire.blogspot.com/ Only Solitaire Blog.]]

Starostin is best known for his old method of reviewing artists and albums: a unique system of separate (but related) rankings for the artist and their albums, in which an artist's albums would be ranked both relative to their own catalogues ''and'' in relation to the entire world of rock music. His reviews also tended to be [[DoorStopper quite long-winded,]] with a much more measured and precise style than other critics like Creator/MarkPrindle.

The new site is operated in a much looser format, with albums rated by a simple "thumbs up/thumbs down" dichotomy, and the artist rankings nonexistent.
