* AntiHero: Pretty much every character in the series (with the exception of Lara) is this, what with their horrible personalities the majority of them being monsters and debauchery-based destruction. Jeff, Ben, Mrs. P, and Slenderman are straight-up [[VillainProtagonist Villain Protagonists]], and what with the majority of them being monsters and serial killers.

** Mr. Widemouth claim to be a tutor to Grinny though it's quickly revealed that Widemouth's a loser who was fired by Zalgo and just wanted a friend. Grinny, partly out of pity and partly because he knows nothing about the Under Realm, agrees to take Widemouth with him to find Ms.P anyway.

* AdaptationalJerkass / AdaptationalVillainy: All of the characters are pretty nasty and mean even compared to their ''Creepypasta'' counterparts. That being said, they are also far more comedic versions of their original creepy pastas, which were originally intended to be unironically frightening.

* AxCrazy: No joke, ''every single main/secondary character'', save for Aton and Lara, have moments where they portray common traits of a psychopath.
** Jeff the Killer's personality is more or less the same as his original's. He regularly murders people for laughs, terrorizes his own friends and goes on homicidal rampages at a bank, among other things.
** Zalgo has destroyed entire civilizations, ruined the lives of billions, massacres and enslaves millions on a daily basis, all ForTheEvulz.
** President Bush is often portrayed as a PsychopathicManChild because of his extreme obsession with money and power.
** Slenderman himself, despite being one of the sanest characters, has his moments of insanity, typically caused by the extreme stress he deals with while mentoring the Proxies.

* BadBoss: Zalgo AND Slender Man. [[CreatorBreakdown Due to an unfortunate past experience]], Comickit does not particularly care for bosses.
* BeachEpisode: One episode has Slenderman reluctantly take the Proxies on a trip to the beach for [[spoiler: killing Zalgo]].
* BigBadEnsemble: Zalgo, Enderman, and [[VillainProtagonist Jeff]] are always jockeying for position of the BigBad.
* BigFancyHouse:
** Proxy Mansion in spades. It's a humongous mansion with many amenities such as recreational sports, a bar, countless swimming pools, a fucking ''movie theater'', a car garage, and many valuable trinkets and amulets. Needless to say, it's no wonder why Slenderman doesn't like the disrespectful and destructive Proxies living there.
** Enderman's mansion could also qualify.
* BlackAndGreyMorality: This comes into play when you have [[SerialKiller Jeff the Killer]] and [[EldritchAbomination Slenderman]] on one side, and [[GodOfEvil Zalgo]] and [[OmnicidalManiac Enderman]] on the other.
* BlackComedy: Oh, yes. The monsters' everyday actions are very immoral, but the comic always plays it for laughs.[[note]]In the Under Realm, the monsters' everyday activities aren't considered immoral[[/note]]
* BreatherEpisode: "Legends of the Multiverse", a high-stakes, fairly serious story arc ending with the deaths of [[spoiler: the Unwanted House Guest, Slenderman (although he got better), X, Mancala, and Zalgo]], is followed by "Sand Ninnys", which is a light-hearted BeachEpisode.

* CatsAreMean: Grinny, full stop. Not only is he an arrogant asshole who constantly verbally abuses people and tried to murder Jeff for almost no reason at all but his douchebaggery to Smile is what causes the dog to run away, thus kickstarting the whole plot.

* TheChosenMany: The Proxies, President Bush, Rick, Ducky, Skeet (of all people), Mayor Bigmouth, Sheriff Wayne, and Mr. Mandavi are all selected by Aton to defeat Zalgo in "Legends of the Multiverse". He dubs them "The New Elite".

* EveryoneKnowsMorse: The Epsilon Cult's website is written entirely in Morse Code.
* EveryoneWentToSchoolTogether: The Proxies did, as we get to see how it went in the "Blast to the Past" series and fully experience it in the "High School" arc.
* EveryoneWentToSchoolTogether: Jeff, BEN and Ms. P went to Proxy High together.
* ForTheEvulz: The motivation of 90% of the villains.
* GainaxEnding: The Barney episode ends with one.
* GatlingGood: President Bush's limo has a mounted mini-gun on top of it.

* GodAndSatanAreBothJerks: Zalgo, a GodOfEvil, and Aton, the GodOfGood are both fairly mean and arrogant. Obviously one is worse than the other, but Aton definitely isn't a total saint.

* GreatOffscreenWar: The Great Monster War. A galactic level war lead by Zalgo and his forces in order to take Aton's throne and conquer the omniverse. Because of this war, Monsters were universally hated by nearly every race, tarnishing their already bad reputation.
* HackerCave: BEN's room in Proxy Mansion.
* IdiotHero: Most of the "protagonists". Most notably with Jeff and Bush.
* InNameOnly: Pretty much every character behaves almost completely different from their ''Creepypasta'' counterparts, for the sake of humor. He's much more evil, vicious, and level-headed in than any other episode to the point that he sadistically shows excitement and joy when he thinks he's finally killed [[WouldHurtAChild BEN]], not to mention the fact he eradicated any creature in the forest and expressed joy at the thought of killing the rest of the Proxies and enslaving the Under Realm, and quite possibly the Human World after.
** The Minions of Zalgo before they eventually became [[VillainDecay canon fodder]] in later episodes. Not only were they among the most dangerous enemies the Proxies had every faced, special attention was brought to the many planets they massacre.
** X is every bit as evil as his commander, Zalgo. The only difference, however, is that Zalgo [[FauxAffablyEvil tries to hide his sadism through large words and an affable personality]], X doesn't even ''try'' to do so.

** The series might be seen as a Reconstruction of LighterAndSofter. While the protagonists are arguably even worse than their ''Creepypasta'' counterparts, ''Pastamonsters'' brings back a sense of fun, wackiness, and hijinks that is not present in ''Creepypasta'', such as over the top adventures, bizarre and wacky characters, and jokes about BEN being a stoner.

* TheMultiverse: There are many different universes and dimensions in Pastamonsters, all of which are governed by Aton. The ones we have seen are displayed below.
** The mainstream continuity contains all characters seen in the series. It is seen in every episode.
** The Universe where Enderman is the leader of the Proxies and Slenderman leads B.O.B and the Rake. Everyone in that universe alive at its creation/diversion had the same memories as their mainstream counterparts did until that point.
** Nowhere. Most likely existing outside the multiverse, no one has a clue how this universe came into existence. It is a void of any confirmed life and anything but colored squares and voices are only known to say "alone."
** Aton's dimension. Much like Nowhere, this dimension exists outside of existence. It is home to Aton, the Ruler of the Multiverse, and it is where he manages the universes and decides which one lies and dies.
** Mr. Widemouth's dimension. It is a chaotic dimension possibly created by Mr. Widemouth himself. It is void of any life outside of Mr. Widemouth himself and anyone who comes to visit.
** The Pit. A Hell-like wasteland ruled by Lord Zalgo.
** Comickit's reality. The world that Comickit (the creator of the series) lives in. In this world, ''Pastamonsters'' is just a fictional story and does not exist. It is briefly seen in "To Proxy Mountain".
** The Gone-verse. In this universe, Jeff never existed and the Under Realm is devoid of life. It shows how integral Jeff is to the Proxies' survival.
** Enerdermania universe. An alternate version of our universe, ruled by Enderman. It was created when Jeff, time traveling, accidentally destroyed the sword that he used to stop Dragon Enderman in "The Chain Mail", resulting in Enderman winning against the Proxies, killing Slenderman and ruling the universe.
** The flip-flop universe. In this universe, Zalgo is good and Aton is evil, the Proxies are the leaders of the USA (with Slenderman as president), President Bush and his family are the Proxies, and the Under Realm is considered the Human World.
** The Zalgo Universe. A universe where Zalgo's forces won the Great Monster War and successfully rule the omniverse unopposed. All we see of this universe is a merged, chaotic multiverse and Zalgo dangling Speedy and Hera over a fire pit while laughing.
** Slenderman's Dream Dimension. It is a universe where Slenderman gets everything he wants. Statues of him litter the landscape, people worship him on a religious level and will crucify anyone who criticizes him, and the Proxies are completely docile and do anything he desires.
** The Resistance Universe: A universe where President Bush turned on the Proxies and led the Human race on a war against the Monster race. In this universe, Jeff, Smile, Rick, Hoodie, and Slenderman are dead, BEN leads a resistance against President Bush, and Enderman defected to Bush's side.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween:
** Ms. P is Nice, Jeff is Mean, and BEN is In-Between.

* PowerTrio:
** Jeff, Ms. P, and BEN.

* SeriesFauxnale: "Legends of the Multiverse". '''BIG TIME'''.
* SilenceIsGolden: Most of the shorts are done with zero dialogue.

* SlidingScaleOfAntagonistVileness: The Proxies kill someone? [[BlackComedy Funny as hell]]. Enderman kills someone? Depends on who it is, otherwise funny as hell. Zalgo kills someone? Vile, unforgivable act.
* SlidingScaleOfComedyAndHorror: A slightly zigzagged variant. The comedy definitely triumphs, but the series is still capable of creating tension and drama as by Grinny's backstory and every scene with Zalgo, Mancala and the Stiltwalker.
* SlidingScaleOfIdealismVersusCynicism: ''Pastamonsters'' constantly flip-flops on this. On one hand, the series relies ''heavily'' on BlackAndGreyMorality, practically every single character, major, minor or otherwise, is a total and absolute moron with the self-preservation skills of a brick. The few that aren't mind-numbingly stupid are {{Insufferable Genius}}' who rub their intelligence in people's faces while never doing anything good with it. Heroes like Rick Bernstein are generally the universe' ChewToy, while evil-doers like Jeff are perpetually {{Karma Houdini}}s. Both the Under Realm and Human World are {{Crapsack World}}s, with corrupt and greedy leaders (Bigmouth and Bush respectively). However, the comic teaches that good things can come out of bad moments/people. The Proxies face challenges, but their strong relationship is a testament to the show's idealism. Slenderman and his family even manage to patch up their broken relationship in one episode.
* SlidingScaleOfPlotVersusCharacters: Less plot than characters. The story is a basic ''Creepypasta'' parody—the real meat of the comic is the characters and how they interact with each other, particularly the chemistry between the main trio.
* SlidingScaleOfRealisticVersusFantastic: ''Very'' "Surreal".
* SoundtrackDissonance: In "Legends of the Multiverse Part 5" the scene where [[spoiler:Shadowlurker saves Jeff from being absorbed by Zalgo]] is accompanied by "Tomorrow" from ''Film/Annie1999''

* FiveManBand: The list is widely flexible and not limited to only five, due to the large cast of friends and it usually depends on who is present for the episodes. But for most of the episodes, there are:

* AdaptationalJerkass / AdaptationalVillainy: All of the characters are pretty nasty and mean even compared to their ''Creepypasta'' counterparts.
* AntiHero: Pretty much every character in the series (with the exception of Sally and Lara) is this, what with their horrible personalities the majority of them being monsters and debauchery-based destruction. Jeff is a straight-up VillainProtagonist, Eyeless Jack just has issues with his co-workers, and Slenderman borders on VillainProtagonist.serial killers.
* AntiHero: Pretty much every character in the series (with the exception of Lara) is this, what with the majority of them being monsters and serial killers.

** Jeff the Killer's personality is more or less the main as his original's. He regularly murders people for laughs, terrorizes his own friends and goes on homicidal rampages at a bank, among other things.

** President Bush is often portrayed as a PsychopathicManChild because of his extreme obsession with the money and power.

* BadBoss: Zalgo AND Slender Man. [[CreatorBreakdown Due to an unfortunate past expeirence]], Comickit does not particularly care for bosses.
