* EatTheDog: Literally when Jeane of all people, wraps Maci in a tortilla and prepares to eat her when the Dog Knights forgot to stock up on supplies.

* SlapstickKnowsNoGender: The dog knights are all female, but they're still prone to getting comically injured, especially Maci and Ori.

* CuttingCorners: Rory tends to do this a lot, whether stealing from corpses, becoming a target for free arrows, fishing naked to not ruin her only set of clothing, haggling with Hama, to even giving up [[KnifeNut her previous]] DualWielding [[KnifeNut dagger fighting-style]] just because she lost one of them and didn't want to buy another.

* AnAxeToGrind: Rory's main weapon is an axe when she fights.

* AwesomeButImpractical: Ori's most powerful spells, such as Freezing Touch and Hell's Pillar sounds awesome on paper, but they're more trouble than they're worth in practice. Rory gets half frozen while fighting a monster, and Jeane gets burned into a crisp when Orinette was supposed to light a fire to cook dinner.
* AxCrazy: Nix gets unhinged when she's in the zone, brutally killing monsters and smiling as she gets covered in their blood.
* BareFistedMonk: Excluding her gauntlets, Nix prefers to fight by using the brawling skills she learned as a pit fighter.

* TheBerserker: Rory's class, though she's only been seen actually berserking in a flashback to before she started the Dog Knights.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Jeane is the nicest member of the Dog Knights, but she can easily plow through enemies with her shield. She also literally carried Rory in her arm out of frustration after Rory refused to go shopping with her.
* {{BFS}}: Bruno wields a large sword fitting his barbarian class.

* BloodKnight: Nix loves a good fight. Her first canon appearance shows her fighting at a coliseum and enjoying the fights, smiling even as she's injured.

* ButtMonkey: Maci is always getting the short end of the stick. Rory uses her as a shield, forces her to take boring quests, among other indignities.

* ChefOfIron: Jeane is the TeamChef and one of the best fighters in the Dog Knights.

* ChewToy: Ori tends to suffer many physical injuries during tough quests. Not even Maci suffers as much slapstick as Ori does.

* CompetitionFreak: Nix is very competitive, challenging Maci to a push up contest and Rory to see who kills the most mooks.
* CounterAttack: Maci's Counter is her most powerful shield move, but it requires Maci to attack at the same time her enemy does.

* DropTheHammer: Hama uses a hammer when she needs to fight to get supplies for her blacksmith job.
* DumbBlonde: Jeane is a yellow lab and not the brightest bulb in the box.

* ElementalWeapon: Saphira has three swords that are made of fire, lightning, and ice.
* ElementalPowers: Ori can use fire, lightning, and ice spells when she fights her opponents.
* EverythingSoundsSexierInFrench: Jeane has a French accent in the dubbed version of the comic.
* EyesAlwaysShut: Hama has her eyes shut most of the time, only opening them when she's surprised.

* FieryRedhead: Maci has red hair that matches her orange fur, and she's very emotional.

* GagNose: As Orinette is a Borzoi, her long muzzle is usually treated as such with certain strips, especially when it is held in one's paws or even booped.

* GlowingEyesOfDoom: Bruno's eyes glow white when he fights.
* GoldFever: Rory has a strong love for gold. A BerserkButton of hers is trying to steal gold from her. It's even lampshades on a strip where Maci believes that Rory may be a dragon because of her obsession with it.
* GoodOldFisticuffs: Nix's preferred fighting style, with no weapons other than gauntlets.
* HealingHands: Celia is a cleric whose main specialty is healing the party. That being said, she charges for her services.

* HeightAngst: Maci has some qualms about her short height, such as having angry tears at Nix being taller than her for about a head despite being the second shortest member of the group. She also dreams of being taller while having Rory be as small as her.
* HeinousHyena: The "hyena queen" Rebell and her pint-sized gang, rivals of the Dog Knights.
* HeroWithAnFInGood: WordOfGod states that Jeane used to be a member of an Order of Knights but they kicked her out due to her being [[KindheartedSimpleton so nice (and dumb)]].

* HumanShield: Maci wears an oversized shield on her back, which her taller teammates take as license to pick her up and use her as a shield, even though her extremities are still very vulnerable.
* AnIcePerson: Ori has a Freezing Touch spell that freezes the weapons of another person.
* IgnoredEnamoredUnderling: Jeane has a rather hopeless crush on team leader Rory, who once bit her on the nose when she asked for a kiss.
* IneptMage: Friendly fire is a regular occurrence with Orinette, even when she's not trying to use Hell's Pillar to [[NoKillLikeOverkill light a campfire]].
* IWorkAlone: Rory used to go on adventures by herself before forming the Dog Knights. It was deconstructed, as Rory was barely able to survive fighting a group of monsters by herself. Realizing her limitations, Rory decided to create the Dog Knights to survive her next adventures.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Despite her stoic personality, Rory cares enough for the Dog Knights to protect them when they need her help. Additionally, [[PetTheDog she is kinder towards Jeane despite ignoring the paladin's crush on her most of the time.]]
* JoustingLance: Jeanne uses a lance when she fights, which fits her paladin position.

* TheMedic: Celia's main role in the Dog Knights is to use her WhiteMage powers to heal the group during or after a fight.
* MindOverMatter: Ori can use her magic to levitate others, as seen when she levitates Baby Rory to look at her.
* MultiarmedAndDangerous: Hama, as an humanoid octopus, has six tentacles which she uses ([[MultiarmedMultitasking besides holding her smithing tools while working]]) to [[DropTheHammer fighting with a hammer]] to obtain monster parts for tempering as well as generally attacking when she wields a full set of armor.
* TheNapoleon: Maci is the shortest member of the group. She's also the first one to get angry or excited.
* NiceGirl: Jeane is the nicest member of the Dog Knights. She protects the group, feeds them, and is very affectionate.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Maci is the oldest member of the group despite being the shortest one.
* ThePaladin: Jeane is a paladin who uses a lance and shield, and enhances them with magic.
* PerpetualFrowner: Rory is always shown with a deadpan frown on her face. It's very rare to see her smile.
* PerpetualSmiler: Nix always has a toothy smile of her face paired with half-lidded eyes, leaving her with a relaxed expression.
* PlayingWithFire: Orinette's Hell Pillar creates a column of fire.
* PowerFist: Nix fights by using oversized gauntlets for punching.
* ProphetEyes: Celia the Cleric (for hire) has cataracts and makes the occasional BlindMistake.
* RescueRomance: Bruno and Maci's relationship began when Bruno saved Maci from monsters when they were kids.

* RobeAndWizardHat: Played. Ori wears a leather outfit instead of the standard magic user's robe but more than makes up for it with her gigantic orange hat.

* ShieldSurf: Maci can use her shield to surf down slopes.
* ShipperOnDeck: Ori ships Jeane and Rory, even writing fanfiction stories about them.
* ShockAndAwe: Ori casts lightning bolts when fighting against marine monsters in a mission with Jeane.
* SixthRanger: Celia occasionally goes in adventures with the Dog Knights, but she's not a permanent member of them.

* SpellBook: Ori has a spell book with her that is full of high leveled spells for her to use.
* SquishyWizard: Ori is the wizard of the dog knights, and the first one to fall down in a fight because of her frail physique.
* SupremeChef: Jeane is the chef of the party, having been taught how to cook by her father. Sadly, she doesn't get to eat her meals as much as she wants because the rest of the party finishes them first.

* ThrowDownTheBomblet: Maci uses bombs of different sizes as her main attack, since her shield is not enough to do the necessary damage during fights.
* TombstoneTeeth: Nix always has her teeth bared in a smile or frown. It's very rare to see her with a closed mouth.
* UltimateBlacksmith: Hama is a blacksmith capable of making weapons out of monster parts.

* WaxOnWaxOff: Rory believes that her strength was born from cutting wood.
* WhiteMage: Celia is a Cleric who uses holy magic to heal the party.
