* EvilTeacher: [[spoiler:Teacher Kim Youngsuk]] after accidentally becoming a Dicer after picking a Dice [[spoiler:from dead Sungchul]], argues with X that adults are forgetting what fun is and joins the War Quest on the Attack's side, commenting he'd hate a boring life and [[spoiler:nearly kills teacher Chun Sobong, who's confirmed to pass away later]].

* EvilKnockoff: X spawns duplicates of Dongtae, Mio and Eunju against them plus Taebin, with the only visible difference being brighter eye colors, and in Mio's case, having her original appearance.

''DICE: The Cube That Changes Everything'' is a [[KoreanWebtoons Korean Webtoon]] by Yun Hyun Suk. It's been published on [[Website/{{Webtoon}} Naver]] from 2013 to 2021.

* DyingAsYourself: When a Dicer dies, all their physical enchantments get undone.

* BlatantLies: [[spoiler:Teacher Kim]] tries to assure Dawn that he's trustworthy. While holding Eunju hostage and just nearly killing a teacher with a deception.

* {{Bishounen}}: Taebin starts of as the most handsome guy in school [[spoiler:, but he wasn't like this originally]]. Later, thanks to the Dice, Dongtae becomes one as well, much to surprise of their classmates. In general, it can happen to any person that uses Dice points to increase the physical attractiveness attributes.

From then on Dongtae's life changes drastically. He's contacted by a childish god-like being "X", who can give him more "]|[≡" by performing up to three Quests of choice at once with varying morality and Dice rewards. In a week, Dongtae [[TookALevelInBadass physically changes]] and fixes his standing in the school.

An unfortune event results in other students discovering the Dice, which quickly spirals out of control as the number of Dicers DrunkWithPower increases, something [[JerkassGods X encourages]] by promising [[PsychicPowers crazier improvements]] for [[ItAmusedMe own entertainment]]. Dongtae becomes involved into a fight between different factions of Dicers and tries to uncover "X"'s identity.

** Byungchul's parents care about his grades more than about his well-being. After he gets suspended from school for just a week for self-defence, they blame each other for raising him wrong.

* AdultsAreUseless: Adults are barely present in the webtoon. Aside from teachers appearing from time to time, who can't do anything at best and interfere at worst. If an adult does show up, they're always an enemy Dicer. Dongtae's mother appears to be constantly drunk, depressed, and absent along with his father.
* AnAesop: Delivered near the end. Life often involves luck. Sometimes you get unexpected privileges or misfortune, and it's not in your control, everyone's the same. But if you don't even try, everything you want will be taken by someone else.

* AfterlifeAntechamber: Near the end [[spoiler:Dongtae is knocked out and dreams of his perfect world. He's not bullied and is dating Eunju, who has a flirty personality. Then the real Mio appears, shows Eunju doesn't have a scar, and tells they're in an area where the unfulfilled wishes are digested by the Final Die. With the Final Die itself being aware of it, it's implied it was a LotusEatingMachine as well.]]
* AlasPoorVillain: Even X gets this himself. [[spoiler: Dongtae's BatmanGambit to defeat him in the Final Game reduces him to nothing more than a crying child, but one that is crushed by a lifetime of loneliness and despair. Even with how much he had dicked around basically everyone it's hard not to feel pity for him in that moment.]]

* AmbiguouslyEvil: "X"'s morality is questionable at first. As a "GameMaster" it's likely that his main desire is to keep the game running [[BlueAndOrangeMorality at any price]] while making it more interesting. He's willing to support the heroes as long as it adds more drama. There are also implications the Dice system runs on player's mentality, who just turned out to mostly be bullies. Subverted soon as it becomes very clear that he's an almight SpoiledBrat who would kill off anyone who doesn't amuse him.
* AmbitionIsEvil: X specifically gives less quests and rewards to people lacking Desire, ensuring that proactive and amoral Dicers stay on top.
* AnimalMotifs: Mio is heavily associated with cats, sporting a CatSmile, as well as petting stray cats while waiting on Dongtae
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: [[spoiler:Dongtae asks X, if he likes playing, why is he a GameMaster and not a player as well. X takes back his previous offer to "play" with Dongtae and tries to kill him immediately. It becomes a clue of the proper way to challenge him and Mooyoung was doing it incorrectly the entire time.]]

** [[spoiler:Mooyoung is revealed to be the MergerOfSouls which out of despair want to kill all desires, by absorbing strong Dicers and challenging X at least for the 127th "surely this time".]]
** [[spoiler:The Final Die turns out to be conscious and has every Dicer killed so far inside until they slowly fall apart. It also speaks in multiple voices and is implied to be the combined Desire of everyone. X once makes a remark that it's hungry, though it's only this way becuase the Final Die didn't consider doing anything else.]]

* BerserkButton: While "X" is usually not annoyed by anything, it appears people refusing to play his game is a trigger for him. While he doesn't show any actual anger, after [[spoiler: Eunju]] told him her reasons for not wanting to play his game he created a quest targeting her. Said quest had rewards for people ripping her clothes and taking embarrassing photos of her, even to the point of causing physical injuries.
* BettyAndVeronica: Dongtae has a crush on his classmate Eunju, who he keep protecting. Mio, who he recently met, in turn has a crush on Dongtae and tries to spend more time with him. Dongtae becomes Mio's official boyfriend, but can't keep Eunju out of his mind.
* BigDamnKiss: [[spoiler:With Eunju becoming a Dicer, Dongbae invites Mio to a date like he promised once and she kisses him in front of the fireworks.]]
* BittersweetEnding: [[spoiler: The webcomic ends with the Final Die scattered throughout the world, its power completely gone thanks to X destroying it in a fit of rage (it would've restored its power over time otherwise). The world is at peace, thanks to Dongtae fulfilling every Dicer's desires and he even saved Mio from her death. However in the process everyone lost their memories of the Dice outside of Dongtae himself so things return to some semblance of how it was prior to the beginning of the series where he is an abused Bread Shuttle. But Jieun starts at his school as a teacher and Mio despite not having her memories befriends him all over again.]]
* {{Bishounen}}: Taebin. Later, thanks to the Dice, Dongtae becomes one as well, much to surprise of their classmates. In general, it can happen to any person that uses Dice points to increase the physical attractiveness attributes.
* BlatantLies: Kim tries to assure Dawn that he's trustworthy. While holding Eunju hostage and just nearly killing a fellow teacher with deception.
* BodyHorror: [[spoiler:Byungchul]]'s Data Ghost has the only upgrade he had improved to match Dongtae's current strength, up to being able to make a spear and whip with flesh.
* BrainsAndBrawn: The Dark Brothers are a duo of dark-skinned Dicers, one with glasses who's AwesomeByAnalysis and the other is a giant and mute martial artist.

* BrokenMasquerade: The more the game escalates the more there are news about "mysterious terrorist attacks". With [[spoiler:X going offline]], during the TimeSkip someone decided to livestream in public how Dice works, massively increasing the amount of adult Dicers.
* BullyingADragon: After losing in academics, Jungnam spends a lot of money to send his school's students (all non-Dicers) against transfered Dongtae and Mio. Both fights were over really in an instant. Then he decides to take him on himself and even has to be saved by Dongtae from falling off stairs.
* CannotSpitItOut: Dongtae can't tell Eunju that he'll get an A-Dice for protecting her, and Mio hides from Dongate that she'll get one for staying in his house at night. Even if they wanted to do so anyway, they think it'd look poorly for them.
* CaptainObvious: During the War Quest Mio senses a Dicer and says he may not be on the Defence team. [[spoiler:She and Dongtae are the only members of the Defence and Dongtae is out fighting.]]
* TheChessmaster: "X". He empowers other people with his Dices, gives out the quests and sets most of the events into motion. For instance, a pair of quests to [[spoiler: Byungchul had him sneaking into the school in order to light it on fire.]] Dongtae was given quests to help him [[spoiler: though opted not to, resulting in his death]]. Even more so when he organized a quest with [[spoiler: Eunju]] as a target and made Dongtae into her secret protector. X's purpose is usually to keep his game running, [[spoiler: although he is quite the cunning manipulator, twisting players' desires into quests which inflict harm on others and themselves for the sake of his entertainment]].
* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: [[spoiler:Jieun is given multiple opportunities to join the heroes and fight X. More than once she agrees only because killing someone close is easier.]]
* ColourCodedTimestop: Time Pause, one of the A-ranker abilities. [[spoiler:Dongtae]] gains this power after he passed one of X's hidden quests involving the protection of [[spoiler:Eunju]] from other students. During its use, everything around him goes monochrome.

** Eunju comes to the hospital to pay respect to teacher Chun Sobong. Suksoon Jung, Mio and Dongtae happen to have a confrontation on the same floor and they drag her into the fight.
** Out of the thousand pickups at the Random Machine, Dongtae gets not only gets something useful to his ability, but [[spoiler:a hidden item possessing X's HelplessGoodSide, revealing itself right when the party was about to be wiped by X]].

* {{Cult}}: After the TimeSkip a team of Dicers called Brotherhood of the Dice God emerges, who look like Catholoc priests and are devoted to X.
* CycleOfHurting: Lv 2 Time Cutter is effectively a stunlock move, it freezes the damaged target for a random amount of time, but enough to continue attack consequently. One drawback is that it's CastFromHitPoints.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler:Taebin, who was bullied and humiliated daily by his classmates so badly he actually tried to kill himself several months prior to the main story, before Mooyoung stopped him. Then, when things finally started to look up for him, Mooyoung killed all of their friends, other Dicers, in cold blood - all to get the final die. To top it off, much later in the story Mooyoung is revealed to have possessed his body.]]
* DamageSpongeBoss: When Mio inspects X's Mars King robot, it shows a stack of 9 health bars. Subverted in it being taken down with a few hits with Time Cutter.

* DeadlyGame: Once there are 16 A-Rankers, X reveals the next quest: [[spoiler:Player Versus Player, and the first to collect the 6 A-Dice set will get any wish.]]
* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: After Sooyoung Choi's world record for swimming was taken by a drug user, he becomes a Dicer and feels now anything would be too easy for him to care.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Sooyoung traps Mio underground and thinks his goons have her cornered. The subway proves to be a labyrinth that lets her hide long enough for backup to arrive.

* DisappointedByTheMotive: The Dark Brothers want to make everyone black with the Final Die. The spectators have nearly interrupted the tournament in outrage before the two elaborated they are victims of discrimination.

* DuelingMessiahs: Among many Dicers, the two who have good morals and don't follow what X says are Dongnae, who wants to keep the Dice but remove system, versus [[spoiler:Eunju, who dislikes the Dice in general for causing a lot of deaths recently]]. Large portions of the plot is dedicated if they should

* EarnYourHappyEnding: Dongtae's uses the limited power of the Final Die to fix problems of several characters, specifically: [[spoiler:Dongtae saves Taebin from suicide and leaving him with a word of encouragement, with no Mooyoung. Somehow Taebin becomes a hot guy by himself and transfers to Dongtae's school, though into a different class. Sooyoung resumes swimming practices and aims for the world record again. Nani is fully cured and leaves to live with Suksoon. Mooyoung is finally put to rest. Che-Hyun getting a bunch of games for free due to a bug in UsefulNotes/{{Steam}}. Deawoong becoming a sultan and having a PooledFunds and a harem... in his dreams, and is simply sent home. Eunju's rival and possibly parents as well have survived the car crash, though she wonders if it's what happened in the first place since she doesn't have a memory of it. Jieun becomes an {{Unperson}} and is free to build a new identity, and later becomes a teacher in Dongtae's class. Johann is still paralyzed, but at least the Brotherhood remain as a normal church. Mio is revived in her improved body and saves Dongtae from the bullies. X never becomes what he was and is implied to have fixed his life himself and has two kids. The Dice never existed, undoing all other related deaths, and everyone except Dongtae forgets what happened. Dongtae is still bullied as the Bread Shuttle, but this time he stands up for himself and befriends Mio, Jieun and Eunju again.]]
* EliteMooks: The Brotherhood, after losing all priests, calls for backup hooded priests with crossbows. Mooyoung [[TheWorfEffect beats them offscreen]] though.

** The quest specifically says [[spoiler:"rip her clothes and hurt her feelings or take an embarrassing picture of her". Even as students do manage to attack Eunju, because she's not distressed]] X doesn't count it.

** ExponentialPlotDelay: Season 4 is about as long as the other three combined, which contains three full arcs before the final quest, the confrontation in which is about a hundred chapters long because of the monologues, flashbacks, showing what unnamed Dicers are doing, and Deawoong complaining about every step of heroes' XanatosSpeedChess before letting them explain.

** In the chapters leading up to chapter 109, X can be seen only as a silhouette. In 109, he appears with only his face hidden.
** Mooyoung doesn't show his eyes to the readers.
** [[spoiler:Dawn]], the hooded person who infiltrates the school during the [=PvP=], remains this way until [[spoiler:Taebin knocks her hood off]].
* FanservicePack: Can happen to any Dicer. Taebin, Dongtae, Che-Hyun, and Mio are among those who have altered their body shapes and their looks.

** [[spoiler:When Mooyoung first physically appears, Taebin goes missing. Then Mooyung messages someone and Eunju recieves a message from Taebin. X also find people trusting Taebin hilarious. Currently they are SharingABody.]]
** [[spoiler:Che-Hyun asks X why he kills the Dicers in the deadline. X responds that it's technically a ForcedTransformation into inanimate objects, which Dongtae later deduces that as GameMaster, X has even higher rules to follow.]]

* FragileSpeedster: Dongtae focuses on speed and power, but not defense.
* FreudianExcuse: The Dark Brothers have been mocked for their skin color their entire life no matter how many achievements they make and have signs of self-harm. So with the Final Die they figured they could change all humans to have dark skin color.
* GenericCuteness: Starts with an [[AvertedTrope aversion]], as most characters aren't very good looking at first. Becomes justified later as more Dicers are created, many of whom improve their looks.

* GoodAllAlong: [[spoiler:Chehuyun has been stalking Dongtae, proposed an alliance with no benefit and didn't join Dongtae's team during War Quest. It's ambiguous how sincere he is, but he helps Dongtae despite being in opposing teams. Being an attacker allows him to supply Dongtae with Dice for vandalism.]]
* GRatedDrug: Most Dicers, who are students, are willing to do anything for more Dice, which leads to people specifically buying and selling them. Dicers become mentally weak and violent if they don't get more Dice.
* GrayingMorality: As the stakes and the count of amoral Dicers keeps rising, all heroes stop abiding by ThouShallNotKill or ForHappiness and are perfectly willing to PK for personal goals.

* GroinAttack: In chapter 61 Dontae awkwardly lands on Mio. She awaits what he's going to do next, but he just hangs for too long and she knees Dongtae in his dongtaes.

** [[spoiler:Taebin in his original appearance becomes separated from Mooyoung when Dongtae hit him with Time Cutter]]. Even he says it's not important how.
** [[spoiler:The Final Die calls itself a shard of a fallen star, then an undefined something out of the universe's endless possibilities, then calls itself a god. Eventually it settles that it doesn't matter where it came from, it was simply summoned by prayers.]]
** [[spoiler:Dongtae and Dicers decide to not play as 'it' in Hide And Seek against X and hide themselves. X becomes impatient and, instead of hiding, starts looking for them. X is unable to find any of them and stops the game, and it's not explained where a group of the dozens of Dicers could possibly have been hiding.]]
* HardWorkHardlyWorks: Samsusaeng, Jungnam, Suksoon Jung and even Dongtae argue that you can't really change what you are born with even if you try, unless you have magic.
* HeelFaceTurn: Hyunjo considers stop being a bully after leaving the hospital. Dongtae saving him during the War Quest only cements it and he gives a formal apology.

* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[spoiler:How Dongtae beats X in the hide-and-seek. When asked, X said there should be no time limit and instead would lose if he can't find a player, which applies vice versa. When it comes to Dongtae's turn, Dongtae asks everyone to hide as well. By X's own rule, he can't win because Dongtae doesn't yield to end the round, and X stops not just the challenge but the entire Dice system.]]
* IdiotBall: The second target of the War Quest is [[spoiler:teacher Chun Sobong, but neither Dongtae nor anyone nearby happen to remember who that is, so he side-tracks to check the student roster. He doesn't consider finding Mio who has TrueSight, or Eunju who does remember him, or continue asking around. Even Samsusaeng who have graduated 3 years ago remembers the teacher. By the time Dongtae finds the staff list, the target is isolated by an attacker. Mio and Eunju try to reach him through a locked door, but only scare the target away and remember the room has the second entrance when it's already too late.]]
* IdiosyncraticEpisodeNaming: All chapters have "Stage" in the number.
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: Most of, if not all, all students in the school desire to improve themselves with Dice. Byungchul builds a theory sooner than everyone else that enough improvements would go into superpowers and maybe beyond, and tries to experiment.
* IronicEcho: [[spoiler:As the punishment for the final game, X decides he would grant everyone [[FateWorseThanDeath the opposite of what their wishes are]]. During the challenge Dongate manages to make it so noone, not even Mooyoung, would want to play with X, which is X's entire contract with the Final Die.]]

** When Dongtae with the bounty hangs from a drain pipe surrounded by Dicers, he hallucinates Byunghul's ghost, who've died similarly.

* INeedYouStronger: X isn't bothered by Dongtae antagonizing him, in fact he finds it fun and sometimes provides hints on how to get to him. However, X isn't above sending other people to their deaths if they annoy him.
* {{Invisibility}}: Cloaking, one of the A-ranker abilities.

* ItCanThink: [[spoiler:The Final Die turns out to be sentient. Dongtae asks if the embodiment of all human Desire has a wish of its own. X decides it can act independently, and while it still obeys X, it revives everyone who've died in the arena and makes X play fair for the last time.]]
* ItsAllAboutMe: Many Dicers suffer from this, as to be expected from those who receive a power that can allow them to achieve nearly anything.
* ItsAllMyFault: Dongtae blames himself for [[spoiler:Byungchul's death, who might not have died had Dongtae not ignored the quest "X" gave him]] that particular night.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: [[spoiler: Taebin conveniently forgets all about his "favor" to Mooyoung.]]
* LivingToys: Mars King robot and Blue Fairy plush X had a child become his giant attack bot and the arena keeper respectively. He also has a giant KillerTeddyBear, Lego blocks, a train, helicopter, and etc.
* LoopholeAbuse: [[spoiler:As Dongtae have realized, as the GameMaster X cannot attack a player directly unless [[ScrewTheRulesIMakeThem he makes a rule]] that allows punishment, which he also has limitations about. All other casualties were Dicers killing each other by his suggestions, or forcibly tranformed and are technically not dead.]]

** [[spoiler:Despite witnessing Mooyoung killing all of his friends, the first thing Taebin does upon seeing him fall from the sky is run to him and beg him to not die. He also agrees to help him with his plan to become an S-Rank, albeit with some hesitation on his part, ready to do practically anything to save Mooyoung's life. Including letting him into his body and starting the PVP slaughter all over again.]]
** [[spoiler:Eunju still believes in Taebin even though he himself has stated that he cannot keep control of his own body for long and Mooyoung is more than willing to kill her for her bounty. She also disregards that he didn't tell her being a Dicer when the incidents happened.]]
** [[spoiler:Despite knowing explicitly that X was doing his best to screw with their feelings, Mio takes his bait and thinks Dongtae chose Eunju over her (the reality was that he chose Eunju to lose her Dice knowing that Mio needed hers and Eunju preferred that anyway). Not helping was after Dongtae wakes up, him immediately going out to find Eunju, understandably so since she could've been heavily damaged by the fight with X. Thus, while she does still love Dongtae, she breaks up with him and acts cold on the outside both to keep him safe, but also as a bit of payback. But if she took him at his word to begin with, they would've never been separated and the subterfuge would be unnecessary.]]

* MemoryGambit: [[spoiler:Mooyoung inflicted amnesia on Taebin, specifically about the volounteered possession, so Taebin out of paranoia will avoid sharing the Dice, then assmbles a team of A-Rankers when they inevitably appear to confront Mooyoung, which Mooyoung would be able to harvest with ease.]]
* MindOverMatter: Psychokinesis, one of the A-ranker abilities.

** [[spoiler:Sometime after the revelation that Mooyoung is currently inhabiting Taebin's body, we see Taebin standing near a broken mirror, clutching his head with both hands, seemingly in pain. His hair is white in one of the shards, just like Mooyoung's were, hinting that Mooyoung is slowly but surely taking control over him.]]
** Happens with Mio once she [[spoiler: gains the A-rank ability Clarivoyance]], everytime she sees her own reflection, it shows how she looked before using the Dice. During the amusement park date with Dongtae she refuses to check the mirror maze.

** Dongtae means "a changing image" and both physically changed and brings change to others.
** Mio's name comes comes from a Korean proverb that even a beautiful crow is still a crow, and also unintentionally sounds the same ''Literature/TheUglyDuckling'''s title in Korean.
** X's name is taken from "Deus Ex Machina".

* MyDefenseNeedNotProtectMeForever: [[spoiler:Every Dicer in school is given the bounty on Eunju, which last only one school day, while Dongtae is secretly given the reverse quest to protect her]]. Dongtae and Taebin spend their reserves of unused Dice on upgrades and active skills and barely pass the clock.
* NiceGuy: Dongtae happily gave Byungchul a Die as a fellow bullying victim. Later, Dongtae stopped him from going too far during the latter's attacks on antagonistic bullies.
* NotQuiteDead: Turns out [[spoiler:Mooyoung didn't manage to kill Dawn, and she survives the attack with a scarred throat and a thirst for vengeance]].
* OnlySaneMan: Of the Dicers, [[spoiler:Dongtae and Taebin]] are the only one to not [[DrunkWithPower go into deep end for the sake of getting new abilities]]. Dongtae remains the only moral Dicer, even as everyone else becomes arrogant and/or apathetic.
* OutsideTheBoxTactic: While increased durability helps Dicers to resist most types of blunt attacks and fistfighting, it's pointless against an actual knife, which [[spoiler:Jieun uses to win the first round of the tournament]].

* PlotBasedVoiceCancellation: Mooyoung tells Dongtae what happens when an S-ranker is born [[spoiler:they effectively can become a god]]. Dongtae reacts with shock, but the explanation is censored over.

** Dongtae didn't tell Eunju that he's a Dicer, responsible for the Dice appearing in the school, and that [[spoiler:he will be rewarded for protecting her (even if he wanted to do so regardless)]] until he couldn't hide it. Despite [[spoiler:saving her from the school gang]], she becomes mad at him the next day, though apologizes later.
** Dongtae deals with renegade Guild members. Despite having bloodied clothes, he neglects to explain Eunju that choir club weren't in danger, further hurting the relationship with her. He explains to Mio why has he has missed the date, though after she got mad at him also.
** Dongtae has more information about the Dice than everyone else from combined Byungchul's, Taebin's and Mooyoung's accounts, but neglects to tell that to his allies until it becomes crucial, appearing not very trustworthy.

* TheQuisling: [[spoiler:Che-Hyun has a similar gaming mindset to X and becomes his assistant near the end, who spares him from the final culling, though still proven to be a BadBoss. Che-Hyun gives up on the Final Die since he's pretty comfortable as-is and doesn't want to fight.]]
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: [[spoiler: What Mio creates her faction out of, and promising to make sure they can create a rebirth for themselves so they can be happy. In turn, this creates absolute loyalty to her even though she carries a huge bounty on her.]]
* TheRival: Taebin becomes Dongtae's rival as story progresses, especially after he starts dating Dongtae's crush. Dongtae's main motivation is to improve himself and overcome Taebin.
* RivalsTeamUp: Taebin and Dongtae are forced to help each other protect [[spoiler: Eunju]] from students completing the hurtful quests "X" gave them.

** Aside capable of improving the user's stats, X's phones provide interfaces like quests, profiles and an item shop.

* RousseauWasRight: There are a lot of selfish people in the series, but the manhwa argues they have the right to follow own dreams, and most Dicers have a FreudianExcuse of some kind. Author notes state that aside "maybe" [[spoiler:Teacher Kim and X's father]], nobody is truly evil.
