* EarlyBirdCameo: Spoony's original video intro began with him screaming in horror at Yuna singing in the opening of ''[[VideoGame/FinalFantasyX2 Final Fantasy X-2]]'', which occured in his review of ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIII''. It was ''four years'' before he actually reviewed the game and talked about the scene in question.

* AccidentallyAccurate: [[invoked]]
** Despite ''Film/MazesAndMonsters'' getting pretty much everything else wrong in regards to role-playing games, Spoony admits that the movie perfectly captured the "DungeonMaster [[ThousandYardStare Thousand Mile Stare]] of a hardened DM taken aback at [[WhatAnIdiot just how fucked the player is]] and realizing [[OffTheRails how boned the whole campaign has become in an instant]]."
** This is also how he describes ''Film/DOADeadOrAlive'', which is basically pointless fanservice made of hot girls in bathing suits, lesbian innuendo and disjointed fighting scenes with only the slimmest plot held together by a villain who inexplicably tries to conquer the world with a martial arts tournament. And it's the most faithful adaptation of a fighting game plot you will ever find in a fighting game movie.
** He figured out the big ending twist of ''VideoGame/BioShockInfinite'' in the first quarter of the game entirely by accident, with him saying that sometimes things just click when you didn't mean for them to.

* DownTheDrain: Says in multiple videos that his least favorite level of ''any'' video game is always the obligatory sewer level. Unsurprisingly he was if anything a little extra savage to [[VideoGame/SewerShark the game that's nothing but sewer levels]].

* AuthorAvatar: The Spoony review character is little different than Noah himself, often touching on how the reviewed item has affected him in RealLife. Later during the VideoGame/{{Ultima}} Retrospective Spoony takes this trope to a new level when he is revealed to be the ''[[LiteralMetaphor actual Avatar]]'' from the game series and proceeds to defend the Earth from the [[BigBad evil Guardian]] as an Author Avatar Avatar.

* CriticBreakdown: the review of ''Franchise/{{Ultima}} IX'' has Spoony comically perched on the armrest of his chair in a fetal position and swallowing pills pretty early on, but eventually culminates in a severe MoodWhiplash, when he suddenly breaks character and relates a very personal story of his childhood and how much the ''Ultima'' series meant to him growing up, concluding on a very serious reflection on the trauma its bungled finale had inflicted upon him.

* HashtagForLaughs: In the review of the ''Franchise/{{Ultima}}: Runes of Virtue'' games, the Black Knight succeeds in his plan to annoy Spoony by spreading the hashtag "[[AC:[=#SpoonyHatesEverything=]]]". Spoony pulls out his cellphone to confirm, and is quickly ranting. The Black Knight has succeeded, which is more than a lot of the villains on the show can say.
