** As the SS Ikea sinks to the bottom of the sea in ''Doom Ship'', Franchise/{{Batman}}, ComicBook/CaptainAmerica, [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil Chris Redfield]] and Sonic comment on how bad the situation is. All four of them are voiced by Creator/RogerCraigSmith, whom Steve based his Sonic voice off of.

** {{Franchise/Shrek}} makes frequent cameos in scenes involving Knuckles. Said cameos make more sense when you remember that Knuckles' voice is a parody of Creator/EddieMurphy (Hence Shrek calling Knuckles "DONKEY." That and Knuckles quickly shouting "Film/ComingToAmerica!" as he throws a zombie Cream off of him in ''Origins'')

* RedShirt: [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Mario]], [[Franchise/SpiderMan Spider Man]], and [[WesternAnimation/WreckItRalph Ralph]] are brought on-screen for only a few seconds before they are axed off by the current MonsterOfTheWeek.

* SetRightWhatOnceWentWrong: ''Finale'', and ultimately the series as a whole, ends with this: [[spoiler: Robotnik shows up out of nowhere with a [[Film/BackToTheFuture Delorean]], having discovered the cause of the zombie outbreak. He invites Sonic to go back in time with him to end it. As was shown at the end of ''Origins'', it was all Big the Cat's fault due to him scratching his rather rancid nethers and letting the...residue get in some fast food burgers. To change the future, Sonic and Robotnik have to kill Big. Sonic is reluctant...but the decision's taken out of his hands as his own past self, Hummer and VideoGame/SonicUnleashed model and all, runs over Big, leading to him dying in a flaming wreck and ending the zombie nightmare before it ever begins. The result is that the Christmas part in ''Origins'' goes swell with no zombies, and even the Chaotix trio showing up on behalf of Ikea, supplying Rouge with a new bed. Everything is okay...well except for Rouge really being a monster who wants to eat Sonic's soul. That and it was AllJustADream anyway.]]

** In ''Forces'', Eggman's ultimate plan to destroy Sonic is to [[spoiler:make an In-Name Only, really bad ''Sonic Adventure 3'' in reference to game series that shove out poor-quality sequels to make a quick buck. There will be a Chao Garden... except it has microtransactions! Cue Catapult Nightmare from Sonic.]]

* WhoWritesThisCrap: Just about anybody will lampshade how weird or repetitive the episodes are. Inverted in Sonic's hornhog transformation, where it's done in a high-quality scene before Eggman asks who decided to give the video a budget. In other words, complaining that the animation is too ''good''. Hornhog-Sonic suddenly turns into the same ''Garry's Mod'' effects as everyone else.
