* DevelopmentHell: The sequel has been in production for years but each version has been scrapped. According to Lange, he does not want to begin the animation until an entirely new animation software (called Helix) is developed enough by him and his fellow programmers. Oh, and Lange is a workaholic who has many, many projects in the work (such as a definitive video outlining his beliefs as to the direction the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise should be taking as well as several Sonic fan games). Furthermore, Lange's tenure as the sole Death Battle animator left him very little time for his own projects, especially while he was making fights such as the infamous and not at all controversial Goku vs Superman battle.

* PowerCopying: Kirby, but surprisingly not Mega Man. And it actually shows how Kirby's power copying works. Though [[FridgeBrilliance if you think about it]], Mega Man's power copying not being used makes sense... because he copies the powers of other robots.

While the animation is not spectacular (In fact, the creator has stated on multiple occasions that he despises it) it has gained popularity almost comparable with Super Mario Bros Z (In fact, Lange has actually taught Alvin some of what he knows)

** Between Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog, Franchise/SuperMarioBros, Franchise/{{Kirby}}, Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda, VideoGame/{{Ristar}}, VideoGame/MegaMan (both classic and X), and Franchise/{{Pokemon}}.

* SuperSpeed: [[SonicTheHedgehog Guess who]]. And he's a lot faster than he is in the games. Most of his time onscreen, he's just a blur. Doesn't stop Mario from keeping up, though.

* DynamicEntry: Most of the characters do this when they are introduced.
** The biggest is probably Sonic's, in which he runs past the screen in a blur a couple of times and kicks Mario in the face.
