* Disney then realized how incredibly difficult it would be to get the rights to the anime - it had been in the hands of various animation studios in japan, numerous dubbers, and everything - but it was too far along in pre-production to change most of the story, so they [[SerialNumbersFiledOff changed]] Kimba to Simba, Claw to Scar, and added elements of ''Theatre/{{Hamlet}}''. Unfortunately, this still wasn't enough to keep some from attacking it as a rip-off when it's more like how ''[[Film/TheMagnificentSeven1960 The Magnificent Seven]]'' was a re-telling of ''Film/SevenSamurai'', only this time, instead of it being the Seven Samurai [[RecycledInSpace replaced by cowboys]], it was Kimba's characters with the plot of Hamlet, making it a very strange - and ultimately, very [[SugarWiki/SoCoolItsAwesome great]] - variation of RecycledInSpace.

Asexuality is now a disambiguation page.

* Although their actors have come out and said they thought of them as a gay couple, it seems to be that both of them are sexual minorities. Timon is gay, mainly due to Nathan Lane being openly gay, while Pumbaa seems far more like an {{Asexual}}.

[[WMG: Mufasa survives Scar's second attempt to murder him ...]]
... after a giant bird catches the weakened Mufasa in mid-air (after he had been thrown off by Scar) and returns him to safety. Scar witnesses this and, realizing his attempt at regicide has been foiled, does an OhCrap and tries to flee ... only to be met by an army of angry giant birds (who serve as a Texas Rangers-like police force) and stop his escape attempt; he is taken into custody, kicking and screaming. (They hyenas are also caught and arrested.) Scar is arrested, charged with multiple crimes, tried and convicted and sentenced to death. Just before he is put to death, Scar goes on a large "you can't handle the truth"-style MotiveRant before he is executed ... as he's continue to go on about how he was the "chosen one." (The hyenas are expelled from the Pride Lands.) Mufasa, meantime, continues to rule the Pride Lands as a wise, noble leader before – shortly before his (natural) death – handing off his throne to Simba.

This one seems obvious when one reads "A Tale of Two Brothers", one of the children's books. Putting aside the fact Scar looks different from his relatives, there is the matter of his birthname; Taka. [[UnfortunateNames Which means Dirt.]] This troper is forced to conclude Mufasa's father is not Scar's father, and the aforementioned lion knew this and named him accordingly. Taking it further, Scar complains to Zazu in the musical that "[[FreudianExcuse Nobody loved me! ...Not even as a cub!]]", implying that his parents weren't that great at showing him affection. Perhaps for good reason.

Dewicking Not So Different as it is now a disambig.

They died because the King was absent. The literal spirit of the King of the Pride Lands came with Simba when he left, ''as the young king''. When he returned, the spirit of [[CapitalLettersAreMagic the Kingdom and Its King]] went ahead on his path, in the form of the storm that lit the dead grass and decay on fire (providing nutritious, albeit probably a bit alkaline, ashes) and gave the land much-needed water. Shortly after ''The Lion King 1 1/2'', with Timon's enormous, transplanted family and no avatar for a Spirit of the Land, the grub ecology is going to collapse and bring down the rest of the food chain of the oasis with it... [[NotSoDifferent just like when Simba left the Pride Lands and Shenzi's, Banzai's, and Ed's enormous, transplanted family moved in and ate all the zebras and antelope and whatnot more quickly than they could reproduce]].

[[WMG: Pride Rock is actually a disguised/deteriorated Forerunner installation, and the world around is actually a Shield World]]
The sapient lions/creatures are Forerunner experiments into genetic engineering/de-evolution, similar to how they altered Ancient Humanity after the Human-Forerunner War. The installation/experiment was abandoned after the outbreak of the Forerunner-Flood War, and was protected from the firing of the Halo rings by a slipspace bubble, similar to some other contingency installations the Forerunner built for themselves, like Onyx or Meridian. The installation is maintained by a disguised AI, Rafiki, who is beginning to enter into rampancy, either due to age or the creeping effects of the Logic Plague.

[[WMG: Kopa existed, but he wasn't killed by Zira.]]
Rather, Kopa was taken by poachers. He was having fun somewhere away from Pride Rock when poachers made a grab for him and got away. This left a mark on Simba and Nala: both were such reason why Simba is so protective is because they couldn't see them coming. And it wasn't Pride Lands specific: Zira's Pride lost a few cubs to the poachers as well. Hence why Simba and Nala so overprotective of Kiara: their child was stolen away, and like a lot of people whose children were kidnapped, they don't even know if he's alive or dead. They've been worried for at years, and that affects their relationships with their future children.

[[WMG: Mufasa had Simba for the express purpose of prevent Scar from ever being king]]
* He knew full well Scar was a [[ItsAllAboutMe completely self absorbed asshole]] who would make a terrible ruler and ruin the kingdom. So he had Simba and carefully trained him all his life to be TheGoodKing (which ended up happening at the end anyway.)

[[WMG: Scar didn't just abuse the lionesses and forced them to over-hunt and starve, he also sexually abused them.]]
In the deleted scenes, Scar wanted a Queen and offspring to complete his status as a king. He wanted Nala for her youth, competence, and beauty, but she rejected him. What did he do? He banished her. Life is hard for lone lions, so the other lionesses likely thought twice before saying "no" to Scar since he was willing to cast his subjects out to die alone. Though that was a deleted scene, you can take it as semi-canon and an off-screen reason factor as to why Nala searched for help. Scar probably threatened the other lionesses to keep on mating with him, over and over again until he realized he was just sterile, and chose another cub who happened to look like him (Kovu) to be his heir.
