Paris. Obviously she's a few decades older but both take place in the 23rd Century.

Jossed. The loss of Romulus and the aftermath is an ongoing plot point in the newer Trek shows, with possibly the most significant outcome being [[spoiler: the eventual reunification of the Romulans and Vulcans, with the Romulans joining the Vulcans on the Vulcan homeworld, now renamed Ni'Var.]] Further, as of Season 3 of ''Discovery'', the Federation of the Prime Universe is aware of the existence of the Kelvin timeline, considering it a parallel universe, similar to the Mirror Universe.

* It's also possible that the registry numbers don't accurately reflect the relative age of the two ships. ''Enterprise'' and ''Columbia'', with their revolutionary advances in technology, may have been seen as justification to start a new numbering series, with older ships keeping their original designations. For something vaguely similar from RealLife, the introduction of the United States Tri-Service Aircraft Designation System led to, among other things, the Air Force resetting the letter-number designations for its newer aircraft, which is why the F-4 Phantom (originally the F-110A Spectre) was much newer than the F-86 Saber or even its replacement, the F-100 Super Saber.

Noted above, the "salvaged saucer" theory is highly unlikely from the extreme structural damage suffered before, during and after the crash-landing -- not to mention the difficulty of getting it off of a planet again, at least in one piece. But what about the engineering section? [[WhatHappenedToTheMouse The last seen of the secondary hull]], it was still drifting in space above Altamid, with the nacelle pylons and connecting dorsal sheared apart by the attack, but still intact overall as the drones ignored it in favour of [[AttackAttackAttack pursuing the saucer section]] down [[TooDumbToLive into Altamid's atmosphere]].

Added counterpoint to theory that secondary hull was salvaged

Added DiffLines:

* Counterpoint: That's just how starships are built in gravity, from the secondary hull up rather than supporting a saucer in the air and building the secondary hull beneath it. Commodore Paris further mentions that construction is already underway ''before'' the Enterprise gets lured to Altamid, so scrapping that construction to restart from a battered secondary hull doesn't make much sense. What is likely is either some steel was resmelted for use on the new ship; or some components from the secondary hull were pulled out, refurbished, and put into the new Enterprise (as the RealLife US Navy did to the destroyers [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Cassin_(DD-372) Cassin]] and [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Downes_(DD-375) Downes]] following Pearl Harbor); or both.

[[WMG: The film is secretly a crossover with TV/StargateAtlantis and TabletopGame/MagicTheGathering]]
The LifeDrinker tech that Krall was using has no precedent in all of Trek. In fact, the only major sci-fi series with it are the Wraith from Stargate Atlantis. Furthermore, Jaylah is clearly a Kor from Zendikar, with the pale skin, facical tatoos, and affinity for technology. [[EldritchAbomination The]] [[AssimilationPlot Phyrexians]] explicitly had demention-jumping tehcnology in their early days when [[EvilutionaryBiologist Yawgmoth]] was still in charge. Clearly the Krall found a long abandoned Wraith facility and took their LifeDrinker and robotics tech. Meanwhile, Jaylah and her father found a phyrexian planar portal on Zendikar and activated it, bringing them to the ex-Wraith planet and set against Krall.

* Complication: Nero got his Borg-tech from the future. That still leaves us with no indication that the Borg have ever been outside the Delta Quadrant.

[[WMG: Jaylah is an albino [[Series/{{Defiance}} Irathient]]]]
The hair is a bit similar. The nasal bridge isn't as thick but that could be simple ethnic variation.
