Wild Mass Guesses for Vera Kamsha's ''Reflections of Eterna'' book series.

Please mark the spoilers.
----
[[WMG: The Beast of Rakans]]
The Beast is nothing but a caricature, drawn to indicate the desire of first Rakans to squirm into the ranks of nobility and accepted by them as actual heraldic symbol. All mentions of their 'mystic powers' is actually a millenia-old hoax.
* Likely disproven by ''Sunrise Pt.5'', when Lionel realizes that the supernatural tornadoes that occurred at Hecksberg in ''From the Depths'' and at Miller's Meadow in ''Sunset'' were manifestations of the Beast, which manifests again as a super-snowstorm when he tries to force General Zal's troops into the Ring of Ernani. [[spoiler:He even manages to briefly take control of the Beast, after perceiving it as a herd of wild horses, and suspects that Pridd likewise took control of it at Miller's Meadow to avert the worst of devastation but lost his memories of it.]]

[[WMG: Alvas' family motto has a double meaning]]
When paired with a soaring crow, the motto "Against the Wind" invokes a romantic struggle against overwhelming odds. However, on its own, it is also reminiscent of the idiom "pissing against the wind" (meaning "doing unnecessary tedious things")--knowing the {{Deadpan Snarker}}s that are Alvas, as well as a little bit of their family history, both interpretations are probably valid.

[[WMG: The Golden Lands were originally the exclusive domain of the House of Rocks]]
If you look at [[https://web.archive.org/web/20160823010651/http://kamsha.ru/books/eterna/illustr/misc/Kertiana.jpg the map]], there are four ([[ArcNumber naturally]]) major known landmasses in Kertiana: the Golden Lands where Talig is located, the Vermilion Lands ruled by the Morisk shads to the south-west, the Grey(-haired) Lands to the North (barely populated due to climate change), and the Turquoise Lands in the East (also depopulated). Now, let us recall that this color-coding is extremely similar to the four inner planets of Kertiana's star system: the innermost Litten is golden-colored, Evrot is silvery-grey, Naier is bright blue, and Fulgat is blood-red/vermillion. Furthermore, each star is associated with one of the four old Abveniate gods (Lit, Anem, Und, and Astrap, respectively), letting us conclude that this was originally their color-coding.

In other words, we have four color-coded creator gods and four major landmasses color-coded in essentially the same way, so it stands to reason that originally, each old god had created an entire continent for himself and his descendants (remember that Kertiana was originally a sort of vacation resort for four particular Guardians of Sunset). Over the millenia since the old gods' last visit, however, the world has fallen into disrepair, and both Und and Anem's lands have become uninhabitable by humans, while Astrap's direct descendants, the House of Lightning, were pushed off the Vermilion Lands (themselves barely inhabitable due to desertification) into the Golden Lands (Lit's original domain). At some point thereafter, the Rakans appeared out of nowhere and united the four Great Houses under their rule into the Golden Anaxia, dividing the Rocks' ancestral lands among them.

[[WMG: The Rakan dynasty is an offshoot of the House of Lightning]]
It is a continuous mystery throughout the cycle where the Rakans came from: there was obviously no Rakan among the four original creator gods of Kertiana, yet as early as the time of ''Flame of Eterna'', the dynasty has been ruling all Four Great Houses for 2000 years (or five cycles). While the actual reveal may be in the final volume of the final book, however, there are hints scattered all around the series that the Rakans are related to the House of Lightning and its divine progenitor Astrap:

* In ''Flame of Eterna'', when Ernani Rakan tries to draw a more human version of Astrap, he ends up painting his brother Rinaldi. His painting teacher Diamni Koro, meanwhile, repeatedly draws involuntarily comparisons between Rinaldi and an captive leopard -- Astrap's totem animal.
* When [[spoiler:Roque Rakan comes back from the dead in ''Sunrise'']], Princess Mathilda has a vision of two stallions from the Epine crest (Dukes of Epine being the modern successors to Astrap's power), [[spoiler:one either for the original (dead) Roque, or the living Robert, and one for the "backup" Roque, who ended up coming back]].

[[WMG:The series will conclude on the 1st of Autumn Waves of the 1st year of the Wind Cycle]]
Because it will be exactly [[ArcNumber four years]] from the day ''Red on Red'' opened on (namely, the 1st of Autumn Waves of the 397th year of the Rocks Cycle).
