*** Well, considering that Rocket is already taking Pok&eacutestops and has staged multiple failed large-scale takeovers, this seems quite plausible.

Per TRS, Rated M For Manly is about manly works, not specific characters

* He also shares the same excessive use of [[HaughtyHmph "tch"]] that's often seen with Silver and Ariana's English language dialogue.

* {{Fanon}} dictates that Silver’s mother is Ariana, and Arlo’s lines resemble a mix of Ariana’s and Giovanni’s. Not only that, but Arlo’s official 2D artwork shares plenty of features with Ariana’s on top of Giovanni's.

* Confirmed. Trainers can gather Mega Energy in order to Mega Evolve their pokemon, however this only lasts a short while, preventing players from simply dropping a Mega PokeMon onto a gym to lock it down for days at a time.

[[WMG: When Kecleon is released, it won't be a standard encounter.]]
Wild Ditto disguises itself as certain wild Pokemon, and the recently introduced Zorua disguises itself as your Partner Pokemon. Kecleon is the last Hoenn Pokemon to be unreleased in the games despite even the next two generations having almost all Pokemon except their mythicals. While Kecleon could be just added as a regular encounter anti-climatically, maybe they'll do something special? As a HollywoodChameleon with the Color Change ability, Kecleon in-lore is able to make it look invisible and change type. This could be represented by it impersonating a Pokemon, serving as a nice surprise. Alternatively, it'll be exclusive to Field Research like Spinda. Perhaps if you catch a Ditto or some other thematically appropriate Pokemon instead of just an item you can encounter Kecleon.

* There's potential for this one. Spark's style of dress, speech, less formal mannerism, and Willow's remarks on his strong instincts getting him out of rough situations (which you could call 'street smarts') imply he may have a similar backstory as Sierra. Plus, if you're on Team Instinct and try to use the Rocket Radar too late at night, he mentions needing to meet up with Willow and trying again in the morning when he gets most of his work done. (By contrast, Candela mentions reaching out to Blanche to see if they have any info.) This could at least imply a casual relationship in the form of a mentor or father figure.

[[WMG: Pokemon Go will backfire horribly.]]
Take a step back, and actually think about this. Think of how distracting phones are already, and then combining Pokemon with that. Think of what will happen. Car accidents will rise exponentially due to people checking their phones for Pokemon in the area. Children could get lost looking for one. People might lose their jobs because they become so addicted to the game. It's already happened with Fallout 4. Crime will skyrocket due to people trespassing while on the hunt, among other reasons. Nintendo and GameFreak alike will face dozens upon dozens of lawsuits. [[DidntThinkThisThrough They didn't think this through.]] Maybe this troper is too cynical or paranoid, but this seems like disaster waiting to happen.
* You do realize [[AngryBirds app crazes]] have happened before and nothing bad happened, right?
** ''AngryBirds'' isn't GPS-enabled; you can play it from your bedroom and it plays the same as down the street. ''Pokémon Go'' shows different 'mons depending on where you physically are, meaning that the game encourages you to check it at every new location. Given that people already text and drive because of the "now" factor in texting, a game which employs "here and now" will likely garner more addictive behavior.
* Also, the company has made [[VideoGame/{{Ingress}} a game like this before]] and will probably know how to avoid this sort of thing.
** ''VideoGame/{{Ingress}}'' was rather low-profile in comparison to ''Pokémon Go''. I mean, it's ''Pokémon'', one of the largest franchises in the world. As you increase numbers of players, the odds that at least one is a doofus increases (particularly when a good portion of your target audience is small children - large groups of ten-year-olds are not known for their common sense). There's already been a report of [[https://www.buzzfeed.com/stephaniemcneal/pokemon-go-house?utm_term=.kuQv2oE0BX#.sxrDKgM4mo a gym being set up in a guy's house because it was misidentified as a church]],[[note]](It ''was'' a church at one point, but is now a private residence)[[/note]] and of teenagers [[https://www.buzzfeed.com/stephaniemcneal/pokemon-go-robbery?utm_term=.mxrYo2jg1X#.jez7rEedY8 baiting Pokéstops with lures to entice people to stand around and stare at their phones instead of watching for thieves]]. In the first case, since ''Pokémon Go'' works off of the same hotspots as ''Ingress'', that means the guy's house was a portal in that game as well, but he never noticed because the number of people playing wasn't high enough for them to visit his house often enough to draw attention; more people playing = more problems.
* It's a lot harder to get lost playing this game since it requires GPS functionality to work correctly, meaning someone playing can just search for a way back. GameFreak and Nintendo aren't directly involved in its development or deployment, which is handled by Niantic - who made the similar AR game ''VideoGame/{{Ingress}}''. It didn't result in any of the above issues despite having hundreds of thousands of players. Pokémon also aren't limited to spawning in specific locations, and one of the key features of the spawning algorithm is that the locations have to be 1) publicly available and 2) only visible to the player within a certain distance - they won't even appear until the player is already within a dozen yards or so of them. Also, server overload on launch day made the game all but unplayable for a lot of people.
** It's easy to find your way back ''if your phone is still working''. Given that this app (and others that use GPS functionality) are ''major'' battery-munchers, it's not hard to imagine situations in which a player doesn't notice that their battery is dying until the phone pops up its emergency alert, at which point trying to GPS your way back can get dicey. It's one thing to lose power in an urban area where you can probably find at least one decent person willing to let you borrow their charger or phone to call someone to get you; it's another to lose it in a national park - which, despite being a public place, may or may not have a helpful person happen along any time soon. Better brush up on your "in case of disorientation" survival skills before taking a day jaunt to catch 'em all (and keep an eye on those kids, since "I think it's this way...no, this way...over here...hey, a rare one! THAT WAY!" can quickly turn into, "Hey, wait...which way is the trail?" - doubly so as parents are likely to be playing as well, and apparently are more distractable than ever).
*** Confirmed. I got lost in a strange city after wiping out my battery playing it all day, and had to juggle google maps and emergency low battery mode to find my way back.
*** An easy way to help with battery life (and data usage) is to use Google Maps to download an offline map of your area while you're on wi-fi. Since the map is saved to your phone, the game doesn't have to spend as much time downloading map data as you walk. This troper took a walk the other day and used 1/3 of her phone's battery. The next day she walked the same area, over a longer distance, after downloading and saving a map, and only used 10% of the battery.
*** This was [[http://www.technobuffalo.com/2016/07/12/pokemon-go-battery-usage-not-improved-by-downloading-maps/ disproved]] by a Google Maps engineer.
* {{Jossed}} '''''harder than a Hardened Hard Metapod using Harden!''''' The game is selling like Casteliacones.
** Nintendo's stock prices more than ''doubled'' within two weeks of release.
*** [[YankTheDogsChain And then it tanked.]] The investors didn't know Nintendo wasn't ''that'' involved with the game.
* The EULA for the game basically spells out that if you play the game, you agree not to do any of the things listed above and waive Niantic and Nintendo of responsibility for your own negligence. And that's what this Guess basically boils down to - blaming the game for the user's inability to use a reasonable amount of common sense while playing. There HAVE been reports of trespassing and injury, but all have been relatively minor save a few that have been verified as fake.

[[WMG: The game will fall under extreme amount of divisiveness]]
* Both because of the HypeBacklash and Pokemon's BrokenBase.
** Somewhat confirmed.
*** Not exactly, given the absolute booming success of it. Some people are disappointed because it doesn't play like a main series game, but the vast majority of the 10 million North American users are less worried about that and more about the game's frequent crashes.
*** There are those who dislike the game because it encourages disruptive and reckless behavior, and indeed, some properties (museums and cemetaries, most notably), ban the playing of the game on the premises.

I mean, c'mon, you discard your Pokémon 'permanently' to a mad scientist looking professor who just so happens to trade back a 'candy' the exact coloration of that species... Suddenly the above guesses of you being a member of the villain teams don't seem that Farfetch'd.
