Orko's fame as a great magician on Trolla is well-deserved, so it's not hard to believe that he's more skilled with Eternian magic than he lets on. He only pretends that his magic is unreliable so that his true power won't frighten his friends or make him a target for the King's enemies. It also lets him play jokes on Man-At-Arms. Notice, however, than when he ''really'' needs a spell to work, it almost always does.
Orko is simply happier being the Court Jester of Eternia than he was as "Orko the Great" on Trolla, even if he does miss his home and people from time to time.

Let's call her Dahlia. She was the heir to the throne of Dyperia and as a princess was urged to marry the young King Randor. They met and liked each other OK, but weren't falling in love though were willing to go through a marriage for the good of their kingdoms. Then Dahlia met Randor's brother Stefen and they fell head over heels in love. Randor decided to step back and let them be happy, though there was some grumbling that it was improper for a younger brother to marry first. Randor was just telling his friend Duncan that he'd rather marry for love anyway when a space shuttle crashed nearby....
And where was Dahlia in the events of "Just a Little Lie?" She was on the other side of Dyperia, leading another army, making sure her kingdom was guarded on all sides. Her son and many other children of Dyperia were evacuated to Randor's kingdom for their safety.

Her name was Adora and she was a child when Marlena came to Eternia. Marlena quickly became a CoolBigSis to her. This Adora was in her early teens when Marlena got pregnant with twins and was looking forward to being an aunt. Randor couldn't make it to the actual birth, but Adora was there to comfort Marlena, who decided to name her daughter after her. Her son was named after the Biblical character. Adora I was just as heartbroken as Marlena after her niece was kidnapped. After Adora I married, she gave Marlena the honor of naming her children. It looks pretty weird to us, but that's mostly because it is an alien planet. Trolla's magic is actually not very powerfull, easy to control and scientifically explained. Eternia's magic on the other hand is not only more chaotic in his nature, there are lots of it, everywhere. That's why Orko's spells usually backfire.
