[[WMG: Christianity is the future of ''Classical Mythology'' and ''God of War''. Kratos, or one of his descendants, used to be the Old Testament God, Yahweh, and Jesus killed him.]]

[[ScrewDestiny To break the Mandate of Heaven]], he takes the mantle of Prometheus[=/=]Lucifer as the Bearer of Knowledge, and becomes the new God: Science. Jesus[=/=]Science then overthrows the rest of the tyrannical corrupt Old Gods in the world. With Science being the only God left, the Universe is in risk of being consumed back by the first and most powerful Protogenoi, [[EldritchAbomination Chaos]], who is starting to manifest itself as Entropy. Thus, Science has to spend much of his time and intellect into maintaining the universe in order and protecting it from Chaos, and that's why he has to allow for humans to think for themselves and exercise their own capacity for science, hence the rise of UsefulNotes/{{Deism}} and Democracy.

Kratos ends up killing all the Greek gods and he (or one of his sons) becomes Yahweh, [[HeWhoFightsMonsters who became as much of a tyrant as the Greek Gods]], repeating the [[CycleOfRevenge Oedipus Complex/Mandate of Heaven]] that plagues the Pantheon. Yahweh, in a {{hubris}}tic attempt to rule forever, imprisons into Hell any Prometheus-figures who want to give mankind knowledge, such as Lucifer. This causes the the decline of the Roman Republic into the corrupt Roman Empire, and the ensuing Dark Ages and the tyranny of the Catholic Inquisition. However, he makes the mistake of Zeus-ing with a mortal woman and Jesus is born.

Kratos had a son with Aphrodite, the only surviving Olympian. This son grew up and restored the world. Yahweh's son Jesus is Kratos' grandson.

Yahweh hires the Romans to crucify Jesus in an attempt to kill him. After Jesus goes through his whole resurrection deal, he goes into heaven and kills Yahweh, and tried to take over the kingdom as the Christian God of the New Testament. However, Yahweh also possessed the Resurrection ability and returns to life again and continues being God in the Medieval Era without Jesus finding out. It would be until the Renaissance where Jesus finally seals Yahweh into Hell for good, allowing Europe an opportunity for a rebellion against the Catholic Church.

**** Belive it or not, but its perfectly possible that after the war of the titans, this might happen. In God of War 2, we see three murals in the hall of time. The first one shows somethign reminescent of the first game or the first half of the second game, can't remember, while the middle mural shows the after math of the Titan War, Kratos standing alone. Last mural? Three men off in the desert, following a star.

* Actually, I think if Kratos does become Old Testament God and ends up having a mortal son, he'll manage to break the cycle of the son usurping the father (violently) because as we have seen, Kratos actually cares about his family. Considering that he has nightmares about murdering his family every time he sleeps, he had a {{Heroic BSOD}} when Ares murdered replicas of them while he was helpless to stop it, he gave up all his powers just to be with Calliope in Chains of Olympus, he was begging for forgiveness from Gaia when she appeared as his wife (before she revealed it was her)in GOW 2, and that the only times he ever actually acts heroic is when it concerns his family... I find it very hard to believe he'd mistreat Jesus. It would explain why God was ready to go on a RoaringRampageOfRevenge when Jesus was crucified before Christ convinced him. In fact, I'm gonna make a big guess here and say Jesus actually manages to MAKE Kratos aDefectorFromDecadence and into the New Testament God we know and many love. Yeah, i know it damn well isn't likely but you have to admit it would make for one helluva CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming.

**** I am now imagining a sequence wherein Jesus goes back in time to fight Moses as he parts the Red Sea. Sea monsters like mini-krakens strike out at Jesus (who wields the cross as a weapon) and he makes a pile out of their corpses to get up to the beachhead where Moses is. After some thrashing, Moses is dazed and a quick time event is triggered where Jesus smashes Moses' head against the tablets that list the Ten Commandments, and Moses turns his staff into a snake. Jesus punches him some more, then grabs the snake, wrings its head off, and ties it into a noose, hanging Moses over a rocky precipice. This will be the most awesome game of all time

The possibility also exists that '''SHE''' was the one who orchestrated for Calliope and Lysandra to be in that temple, so Kratos would kill them under Ares' influence. After all, it was '''Athena's temple''', and Kratos thought he left his daughter and wife in Sparta. This will most likely be what the final God of War game's purpose will be: learning of Athena's manipulations.

When Kratos went back in time to keep Zeus from killing him in God of War II, it also prevented his meetings with Theseus, Perseus and Icarus on the Island of Creation, the same as it did with the Last Spartan. So in a sense, Kratos did not tell what was the "truth" to Daedalus when he met him, failing to understand just how much he changed when he changed his Fate.

Most of the Olympians dead and the whole world plunged into Chaos? This reeks of Eris' handiwork. No doubt she [[MagnificentBastard orchestrated all of this]] because she [[DisproportionateRetribution lost a game of Yahtzhee or something.]] She's probably watching the whole thing at a safe distance while [[PrincipiaDiscordia joyously partaking of a hotdog.]]

* But the grave digger was really Zeus, so this is unlikely.

** Actually, compared to [[JerkassGods The Olympians,]] espescially [[GodIsEvil Zeus]] (which any student of ClassicMythology will tell you isn't far off) and Kratos [[HeroicSociopath himself,]] they kind of ''are''.

Think about it. At the end of ''Ghost of Sparta'', [[spoiler: the Grave Digger buried Deimos and his mother. He reserved a grave that was empty and said "Now there's only one left".]] He was implying that Kratos be killed. ''GOS'' was the 3rd to last in the series chronologically, meaning that much of Kratos' events up until then were driving him to suicide for good. The Grave Digger knew that Kratos was close to cracking. Come the end of ''3'', two games later, and Kratos (finally) seems to ''actually'' be dead. This would mean that ''3'' is really the end of the story.

Something that This Troper picked up on immediately was that nothing about Athena seemed quite right when she appeared to Kratos after her death. And she's the only god, out of all the ones that died over the course of the series, to get to show up in ghost form (aside from Zeus's final stand, but as he returned to his body, he was clearly still alive and that was just a neat trick). Why would Athena suddenly come back, having done a complete 180 on her decision to protect Zeus, and urge Kratos to kill him? And then try and take all the power of Hope for herself in order to become the one god of the world?

* Although she seems like a evil manipulative bitch, I still get the impression that she wants to do good things and help mankind to come back after Kratos literally ended the world. So what does she do after Kratos releases hope to the world? Well as God like entity that can't physically interact with us, more than doing small miracles and giving advises, she is doing the best she can to recreate the world, and to help and guide mankind with their new power of hope. Since as she stated herself, that they don't know what to do with it.

* Oh my Great Old Ones, MAKE THIS HAPPEN SONY!

Kratos says it himself: "Olympians overestimate themselves." You've got a bunch of supposed "gods" getting ganked by being impaled, getting their eyes gouged out, having their heads ripped off, and generally getting the ever-loving crap beat out of them. It's almost like they're not even gods, but just really big people with magical powers. Maybe the [[spoiler:hope bound up inside Kratos after opening Pandora's Box]] helped, but he killed his way up to [[spoiler:Pandora's Box]] just fine. If a baseline human had a GiantMecha, a FantasticNuke, [[{{Supernatural}} the Colt]], or even just [[MoreDakka sufficient dakka]], they could kill a god too.

* Honestly, I think that Khorne is the one who revives Kratos at the end of '''III''. Maybe he becomes Doombreed? After all, if there's a God who can tame Kratos, it would be Khorne.

*** Alright...then in the same vein of rescuing his wife and daughter, why didn't he just ask for that as his boon for helping the gods? It's a common enough plot in Greek mythology. Instead, he demands that the gods ''make him stop feeling guilty''. And during all those trips to Hades, did he not ''once'' think to try and save them himself, with or without the will of the gods?

* I'm gonna expand on this and connect it with the top theory that Kratos becomes God. Indeed, Zeus (or Hades, he does rule the Underworld after all) gives Kratos' brother the chance for revenge. Since the guy looks like a badass demon in the secret ending, we'll presume he can actually give his big bro a fight. Naturally Kratos doesn't want to fight him but he doesn't have much of choice. After an emotional and memorable boss battle, Kratos bests his brother but spares him before continuing to ransack Olympus. Naturally this only makes his brother hate him more, and when the war leaves the Olympians and (likely) Titans dead, [[{{God}}with Kratos the only deity left]], his brother will rise up as {{The Rival}} and continue to battle him. So if Kratos becomes God, that means his brother becomes... {{Satan}}! (Again, just watch the secret ending and notice how much his brother looks like a devil.)

Hercules complains that despite both of them being sons of Zeus, Kratos is the one getting all the recognition that Hercules should. so why are there legends of Herc and no legends about Kratos? Because people telling the stories wound up conflating the two. Kratos brings certain elements such as mistakenly killing his wife and children, defeating the hydra, ascending to godhood, etc. Hercules brings the actual 12 Labors to the table, the reputation as a defender of Olympus and the gods, etc. It might also explain why so many of the lesser known stories about Hercules have Herc killing people for

It doesn't seem that Zeus was particularly more of an asshole after Pandora's Box was opened. He betrays Gaia after she hid him from Chronus. He chained up Prometheus for giving fire to mortals. He stole Pandora from Hephaestus. And he gets a Spartan woman knocked up behind Hera's back. In fact, many of the gods seem to have been affected by the opening of Pandora's Box, even before it was officially opened! Ares was jealous of Athena's followers (or something like that). Athena [[spoiler:planned this whole entire Pandora's Box thing.]] Chronus ate his own children. Rhea betrayed Chronus in his aforementioned efforts. The Fates denied the largely innocent titans victory in the Great War. And Kratos isn't exactly without asshole-ish tendencies himself. So why does it seem that Kratos is perpetually [[{{Spaceballs}} surrounded by assholes]]? Well...

So you see: when K-[[RatedMforManly Man]] [[spoiler: [[DriventoSuicide kills himself]] in GoW3]] he does it on top of a carving on teh ground of what appears to be a phoenix. As far as I know Phoenix[[BuffySpeak -ses]] are proeminent in one mythology: Egyptian, and one actual phoenix appeared, under lakhesis control [[spoiler: gift from egyptian gods to try change their fates like chronus and zeus did perhabs]]. And Nordic myth has also appeared [[spoiler: [[BladeonaStick Spear of Destiny]] anyone?]]. Since egypt gods seemed more loving to thier people (as far as i was shown) and nord gods just wanted them to slaugther each other so they would have more warriors for Ragnarok [[spoiler: probably something on the Island of the fates was given by them to try to avoid it]]. I can only think one thing after GoW3: That was not Athena, it was [[ShapeShifting LOKI]]. Think about it, Nord gods along with greek ones are happy ruling the north and the middle of the world, respectively, whle egyptians most certainly rule south(maybe persian and\or arabic rule the east and chains of olympus shows their first(and last) try at conquering the middle) while they are all happy ruling, Greek, Nordic(and maybe persian) gods want to rule with an iron fist without defyiance because of it, while egyptians just prove that they are better then us by giving gifts (they are so altruistic) and no one defys them.

Now for the actual game Guessing, Loki(now no loger disguised as athena) got the remaining members of the greek pantheon, along with any other magical artifacts of ANY kind(or the egyptians would help kratos find a way for him to use it agaisnt them) to asgard to report his failure, meanwhile Aken(egyptian equivalent of Charon) carries Kratos to the Egyptian part of the underworld, where Anubis ressurects, and Set(god of desert, storms, '''chaos''' and foreigners(check wikipedia i'm not kidding about foreigners)) introduces Kratos to this war between fairness inbetween god and man, and the iron fist ruling of man by the god. He asks Kratos, in the name of the other Egyptian gods that he [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu does]] [[ExtremeMeleeRevenge what]] [[Main.KillTheGods he]] [[UnstoppableRage does]] [[LargeHam best]][[spoiler: notice where the last link takes you to]]. So, Kratos, having finished his revenge and wanting to be with his family asks [[ChewingTheScenery '"WHY? WHY SHOULD I ONCE AGAIN BE A PAWN OF THE GODS? THEY MAY CHANGE BUT THE END IS THE SAME! BETRAYAL! AND DEATH! DEATH FOR '''YOU'''! JACKAL!"']] and Set goes [[spoiler: '"you will have your family back, the mark of your sins, carried on your own body, removed, and the memories of these deeds, for all six of you, erased"']] [[NoIndoorVoice '"SIX?"']] [[spoiler: '"Why of course: Your daughter Calliope, your wife Lysandra, your mother Callisto, your brother Deimos, and...your surrogate daughter...what was her name..-Pandora!"']] kratos then sees that everything he ever would have wanted '''will''' be made true this time, [[spoiler: as he sees Set asking Anubis to summon Deimos, Callisto and Pandora there from a nearby [[TheMummyTrilogy Egyptian underworld soul pool of darkness]] while Set removes kratos' ashes to ressurect his wife and daughter]] so he agrees and proceeds to Asgard, killing all persian gods in teh process (tasked with stalling him for the nords) and upon reaching the nordlands kills all of the remaining olympians AND takes back the sword of olympus along with every other magical artifact he left behind in a single quicktime event [[spoiler: after perhabs having the strongest of the remaining olympians (I'm rooting Arthemis, accompanied by the remaining medusa sister) fight him in a boss fight while some egyptian backup fights the others]].

Then we have God of War V wich ends off ALL nord gods and in the end [[spoiler: the egyptian gods give one final gift to their people (that would be, an open mind to science, wich eventually spreads to all mankind) before they fade away from earth cuz mankind does not need them anymore, leaving kratos with all of theirs, '''and''', all of every other gods' powers, and an orb wich upon being thrown in the ground by kratos, wich is teh only way to break it) will reset his memory, at wich point he will be in sparta with his family. All of it. but before he does that, kratos, in a world without gods to kill, asks out for hope to come to him, creates an old man out of it, puts all his godly powers in this old man, and tells him: '"Go, rule over mankind, give them hope, lead them to a new age. But leave me to my peace."' to wich the man responds: '"You did not need to ask , oh, mighty Kratos, for I, Iehova, would never do so"' Kratos then walks away with his ENTIRE family while [[BruceAlmighty The Almighty Bruce]] rules over us. :D]]
