She got the idea of how they would react so she set it up like she wanted to leave the town, faked what needed her to be going to the hospital and meet up with her father and is now awaiting to see how everyone she left behind will react.

[[WMG: Unlikely ways for the series to end.]]
* Alejandro becomes an all-powerful entity and lets out his revenge leading to everyone trying to figure out how to ultimately defeat him. David tries to succeed through comedy relief but in the end Lucy returns with a sword in her hand. This blade is nothing ordinary, it is the only weapon to successfully win this final battle. She stabs the foe in his chest and Mike realizes he was meant to be with her, they forgive the wrongs of the past and walk off into the sunset. (Augustus dies somewhere in the mix of this, possibly)
* All the remaining main characters are slowly killed off in the path of life's craziness. Lucy comes back to town in the final chapter and sees all the gravestones responding either with:
1. "I knew this would happen."
2. "Serves them right."
3. Maniacal laughter
4. "Excellent" a la Mr. Burns
5. Waking up with one of those "That was a crazy dream" endings.

When they were younger, Lucy was socially isolated, which led to her developing her {{Tsundere}} personality. Mike, on the other hand, doesn't appear to have faced as many issues while growing up, and turned out to be a NiceGuy. However, thanks to their friends [[AbuseIsOkayWhenItsFemaleOnMale laughing off Lucy's abuse]] and [[ButtMonkey treating]] [[CantGetAwayWithNuthin him]] [[TheUnfairSex poorly]], he has grown bitter and cynical. This has only grown worse after their friends learned that he rejected Lucy's confession -- he's even been explicitly told that his LongDistanceRelationship with Sandy 'doesn't count' because "those never work out", and that he should hook up with the girl who's right there, ''despite'' how she [[CharacterDevelopment used to]] treat him so badly.

During this rant, he will call them on the DoubleStandard they showed in regard to Lucy's pre-CharacterDevelopment [[AbuseIsOkayWhenItsFemaleOnMale treatment]] of him, as well as how they themselves gleefully used him as a ButtMonkey. He'll also ream them out over their presumption that he and Lucy should get together just because she confessed despite his ''already being in a relationship with Sandy'', spelling out how much it hurts that they assume she doesn't count just because it's a LongDistanceRelationship. With everyone worrying about Lucy's hurt feelings, he'll claim they've forgotten [[DidYouThinkICantFeel he has feelings too]] -- and they've been hurting them and his friendship with them for ''years''.

True she could be dead, but in all honesty I don't think that's the true explanation, (even if it isn't I think this idea for why she's gone is not only better but also something that's more likely to happen it this comic) my idea is that(given that David openly admitted that he'd like to have sex with someone at least once), since not even David is stupid enough to recognize somebody has a thing for him (not at first though) he had with Kizuna and got her pregnant, but due to his inability to take things seriously (at least that's how he strikes me) he treated learning that he knocked her up as a joke...Kinzuna got heartbroken and just left school, what would happen next I'm not sure but I think she might have just carried the pups in her...but that's only my opinion.

[[WMG: David deliberately cultivates his FlatCharacter status]]
As the FourthWallObserver of the comic, he realizes that serious relationships and character depth only leads to grief. As hinted at the end of the Summer Vacation arc, he's afraid of changing because that will cause grief and complication in his life.

Let's face it, the guy clearly wants to hurt Mike ''bad'', and he's a huge asshole. During Confrontation, he came damn close to killing Mike, and when Lucy stopped him, he then proceeded to nearly rape-and-murder her. Then Mike and Lucy [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown teamed up on him]], and Alejandro was damn lucky to slink away from that one without permanent injuries. Now Alejandro wants revenge on Mike, so when he hears about Mike's relationship with Sandy, he decides to pull a RevengeByProxy. So shortly after Mike and Sandy have their touching reunion -- in front of ''everyone'', including (a visibly distraught) Lucy -- Alejandro comes in out of friggin' nowhere and [[ConspicuouslyPublicAssassination shanks Sandy]] [[BackStab in the back]] [[InterruptedKiss the instant before she and Michael get to kiss]]. Maybe more than once. Cue in-universe declarations that Alejandro crossed the MoralEventHorizon -- even from Augustus, who at the moment looks up to Alejandro as a leader/big brother-type figure (especially when he sees how upset Daisy become upon seeing Sandy get mortally wounded) -- which immediately segue into UnstoppableRage. In the bad ending, Mike will charge Alejandro almost ''immediately'', and Alejandro will not only slash Mike's throat without skipping a beat, he'll then [[VillainExitStageLeft flee the scene]] and [[TheBadGuyWins get off]] [[KarmaHoudini scot-free]]. Cue Lucy [[DrivenToSuicide committing suicide]], Sandy bleeding to death, and [[DownerEnding everyone else being incredibly depressed]]. (Though there would be a SilverLining in that Alejandro's future arrest and conviction would be pretty darn likely, considering the number of witnesses.) In the good ending, Mike [[HeroicBSOD will just be in shock over what just happened]], while Alejandro engages in EvilGloating about how much Mike must be suffering without his true love... but just before Mike crosses the DespairEventHorizon, Lucy, of all people, having accepted that Mike loves Sandy and not her, calls Alejandro a scumbag for ruining Mike's happiness and proceeds to attack him. Though Alejandro will once again get the upper hand at first, with his cronies preventing the others from stopping him, Augustus will take it upon himself to intervene and damn-near-kill Alejandro (but will be fatally wounded in the process, with Lucy already beaten to within an inch of her life). Meanwhile, Sandy will have been watching all this in her dying moments, and with her final breaths, ask Mike to focus on what he has rather than what he's lost. This gets Mike out of his HeroicBSOD long enough to see Augustus dead and Alejandro smirking psychotically and about to finish Lucy off (for extra dick points, by dropping her into a nearby lake). Mike then immediately proceeds to grab Alejandro's weapon right out of his hands and stab him in the face, then begin pleading with an unconscious Lucy to wake up. Cue scene cut to hospital, then Sandy's funeral, and a DistantFinale of Mike and Lucy finally getting together... which gets me to why I cooked up this theory in the first place. Taeshi's stated that Mike and Lucy ''will'' get together at the end of the comic, but as things currently are, that's not gonna happen. Mike and Sandy are very much in love with each other, and Lucy is seemingly resigned to not having Mike in her life, ''period''. If not for the WordOfGod contradicting it, Mike and Sandy being happy together in the end would be completely viable (and what I'd be rooting for, seeing as Lucy totally blew her chance with him.) And with the series's spiral into the depths of CerebusSyndrome (not to mention Kizuna and Carson already having been KilledOffForReal), I wouldn't be surprised if [[DeathOfTheHypotenuse Sandy being brutally killed]] didn't end up as the series's DarkestHour. As for why Alejandro would do it, see the beginning of this rant -- namely, that he hates Mike, and that he's [[CompleteMonster a dick]].
** Wait... I just re-read [[http://www.bittersweetcandybowl.com/about.html the page]], and the answer keeps flickering between "no" and "yes". Basically, Taeshi's trying to confuse us. (When I posted [[http://comments.deviantart.com/4/377701/2177613587 a comment on her DeviantART profile]] about this WMG entry, her response was "[[http://comments.deviantart.com/4/377701/2177631640 i love the mass-guessing section, it's so delicious~]]".)

[[WMG: Sandy will dump Mike.]]
In this [[http://www.bittersweetcandybowl.com/ recent comic]], Sandy says that Mike is "young and bright" and "exactly as she remembers". Why would Taeshi emphasize this? Considering Mike's [[http://www.bittersweetcandybowl.com/c68/p29.html change in character]] [[http://www.bittersweetcandybowl.com/c68/p30.html and dickishness towards Lucy]], this isn't exactly true. Somehow, Sandy's going to find out about it, and she'll either become horrified and think she turned Mike into Lucy, or she'll become pissed off. Either way, she'll leave Mike, leading him into shock/depression.

Bonus points for an IronicEcho.

Maybe not permenantly, but once she's with Mike and her parents' backs are turned, she'll snap, think "Screw it!", grab Mike, and run out with him. If she doesn't try to stay in Roseville, she'll tell him that they only have this one night and that they should actually go out on a date. Her new reckless attitude might even make her convince Mike to make this night their "first time."
