* HalfwayPlotSwitch: The story starts off as a journey to figure out how to undo Daxter's [[BalefulPolymorph transformation]]. However, the party's goals eventually shift to finding the Sages and [[SaveTheWorld stopping Gol and Maia from destroying the world]].

* PrecisionFStrike: In the opening, Daxter says something about "precursor crap". The game got an E rating in the US and a 3+ rating in the UK. Other than the word "bugger", there's no other cursing in the game.

* GreatOffscreenWar: It's implied over the course of the game that Gol and Maia are sending Lurker troops to towns over night and ransacking villages for artifacts and eco. Near the end of the game, Keira mentions that they are becoming more and more aggressive now that they are close to their goal. You will never see any of this, however, as most of your adventure is in abandoned ruins and nearby areas outside of town, and in Rock Village, you get there [[AfterTheEnd after it happens]].

* InferredSurvival: It is strongly implied at the end of the game that the villains, Gol and Maia, were not truly killed, as Samos states that they are dead, "...probably." It could also just be a lampshade on Main/TheEndOrIsIt trope so common in first installments.

* LargeHam: There are a few characters who are rather dramatic, including the Sages, the most notable examples are Daxter and the Warrior. One Daxter's earliest lines certainly highlights how dramatic he can be:

* LimitBreak: The [[spoiler: Light Eco]] Jak uses in the final fight.

* TakeOurWordForIt: The 100% ending has Jak, Daxter, Kira, and Samos opening the precursor door- we don't see anything other than a blinding white light but the characters are amazed.

* ThrivingGhostTown: Sandover Village and Rock Village. The former is notable for having unique homes for every NPC the player meets in the starting set of levels... [[ZigzaggedTrope and nothing else]]. Not even Jak or Daxter get a home! It makes the Mayor's worries for reelection seem a bit odd (or even having a mayor at all), in a town of less than a dozen people. Rock Village, meanwhile, basically consists of a meeting hall and a bazaar awning.

* AlmostKiss: At the end of the game, it seems like Jak and Kira are going in for a kiss, only for Daxter to get in between them.

* {{Atlantis}}: The [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Lost Precursor City]]. It practically checks every box as it is located beneath the ocean surface, accessed only by an elevator that's located ways away from the village the Blue Eco Sage is staying, and few have attempted to search or investigate it. Jak even manages to bring a piece of the Lost Precursor City to the surface, much to Kira's glee.

** During the cutscene where you talk to Kira for the first time for the Blue Eco vent blockage mission, Daxter started hitting on her and after being rejected he makes a gesture that seems... Titillating for lack of a better word (No pun intended) Jak appropriately hits him in the back of his head in response. This game may I remind you is E rated.
** When you turn on the Blue Sage's gate in Rock Village, watch Jak's facial expression when Keira bends down to look through the telescope...
** Maia not only shows off a pretty decent amount of cleavage, but has noticeable JigglePhysics as well during some cutscenes, in an E rated game.
** Also, At the end of the game where Jack and Daxter [[spoiler: destroy the Precursor Robot to prevent the dark eco silos from opening]], Daxter and Kira give this exchange. Like I said earlier this game has a E rating.

* PowerUpMount: Jak can ride a large bird known as a flut-flut in specific sections of Boggy Swamp and Snowy Mountain. The flut-flut grants increased jump height and distance, a slightly slower fall speed, increased land speed, and the ability to break metal crates without needing Yellow Echo.

* TakeYourTime: It doesn't matter what Jak and Daxter go off and do after Gol activates the Precursor robot he needs to open to the Dark Echo silo, he won't be able to break in until the duo gets to it.
