In the Weekend update, Daddy Dearest is hosting an award show, inviting Boyfriend, even though the latter doesn't understand why. Moreover, Hex is there as well, and the two are tasked with singing a few songs together. WhatCouldPossiblyGoWrong?

''VS Hex Mod'' is a ''VideoGame/FridayNightFunkin'' GameMod created by [=YingYang48=] and released in 2021. In it, the Boyfriend raps with Hex, a friendly robot who's not interested in the Girlfriend. He'd rather play basketball instead.

As Boyfriend and Girlfriend relax on their date in the park, they meet across Hex, who wants to challenge Boyfriend to a friendly rap battle. But what happens when something malfunctions within him...?

In the Weekend update, Daddy Dearest is making an award show, and for some reason, Boyfriend has been invited. There, Hex, Boyfriend's robotic friend from before, seems to have a performance scheduled during the event and he asks BF and GF for help. With the whole country watching them, people Boyfriend fought before, and his Girlfriend, there's no way he could lose! ...Or is there?

* AmazingTechnicolorBattlefield: While the previous three songs feature a traditional passage of time from noon, to sunset, to night, [[spoiler: "Glitcher" instead has the sky converted to a blue screen of death, and fades between this and a Tron-esque ArtShift that depicts the Infected Hex and Boyfriend standing in cyberspace.]]
* BornLucky: Well, ''manufactured'' lucky but the trope still stands! Despite the unfortunate circumstances of his development, what with his original production contract with his owner being terminated without notice because of the CEO's greed, through sheer luck and circumstance, Hex managed to escape a lifetime of being stuck in a storage closet after being put under a sunny window ''and'' ran into his commissioner and owner, the Rich Guy, just as he was dejectedly leaving the factory after learning of Hex's fate. On a much smaller scale there's his happening to run into the Boyfriend, who's both kind enough to oblige a series of rap battles and is skilled enough to [[spoiler:hold his own against the virus that infects him.]]
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler:The virus causes Hex to attack Boyfriend, and he's clearly not in control of himself.]]
* BorrowedCatchphrase: Boyfriend, in response to [[spoiler:IRIS's remark on if they're ready to face off against them,]] he borrows Hex's "I'm always ready." saying.
* CanonWelding:
** [[VideoGame/VsWhitty Whitty]] is Hex’s best friend. In extension, [[VideoGame/VsCarol Carol]] is his friend too.
** Hex is a fan of Music/HatsuneMiku. According to [[WordOfGod the Gallery]], it is because the creator saw Hex cameo on [[VideoGame/ConcertConundrum Miku’s own mod]] and got the idea from that.
* {{Catchphrase}}: "I’m always ready."
* ComputerVirus: The last song, "Glitcher", [[spoiler:has Hex catch a virus as he used too much processing power in the first three rounds, and it's up to the Boyfriend to make him crash by demanding enough inputs to force a crash and a safety scan. The virus returns to completely take over Hex after the song "Cooling", being a bug from media conglomerate of the Underworld IRIS Co. Ltd.]]
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Surprisingly enough for someone as upbeat and friendly as Hex.
** Part 1: He was originally commissioned by a very wealthy but lonely man, called the Rich Guy. The company invented new robotics features specifically for Hex but unfortunately, the CEO got greedy and wanted to mass-produce the innovations and sell them to the market, so he terminated the contract without the Rich Guy's knowledge.
** Part 2: Now nothing more than an expensive prototype, Hex was abandoned in a storage closet and it was only due to sheer luck that he was put under a window that gave him enough sunlight to charge his solar panels and escape. The Rich Guy came to check on his work and left disappointed but also by chance, runs into Hex and recognizes him as the friend he wanted. The two enjoy several years of fun together... before the Rich Guy passes away of old age and leaves his fortune to Hex.
** Part 3: Hex quickly realizes firsthand that all that money can't buy him happiness, so he decides to join the local basketball team, as it was a sport he and Rich Guy used to play together. He builds a fan club for himself thanks to his skill and being (literally) a super-fast calculating machine but he still finds himself without a partner to sing karaoke with, another of his and the Rich Guy's old past times. It's only after he runs into the Boyfriend at the park that his life takes a significant turn for the better.
* InterfaceScrew: [[spoiler:"Detected" probably takes the cake in regards to the most trickiest example of this in regards to any ''FNF'' mod (aside from maybe ''VideoGame/InTheGalaxy'', though the song charted being made by the charter of said mod may have something do with this). * NiceGuy: Unlike most other rivals, Hex is a friendly robot who wants to rap for fun and not ill intent.
* NumericalThemeNaming: Hex's name comes from "hexadecimal", otherwise known as base 16, which is a format for using digits from 0 to F used in computing. Him wearing a shirt with "16" on it is further proof.
* PunchedAcrossTheRoom: [[spoiler:Daddy Dearest does this to an IRIS-controlled Hex during the pre-Detected cutscene.]]
* RefugeInAudacity: Boyfriend in the beginning cutscene of the weekend notes how bold it is for Daddy Dearest to invite those he ultimately screwed over to the show, hap-hazarding a guess that with the promised money prizes that they'll turn a blind eye.
* RobotAthlete: Hex is a robot who likes to play basketball.
* RobotBuddy: Hex was ''explicitly'' created to be this for his original commissioner, the Rich Guy. After the Rich Guy passes away from natural causes, Hex remains as friendly and eager to have fun with others as ever.
* ShoutOut: There's a green banner with the words [[Website/FourChan ">implying"]] on it.
* SuddenlySpeaking: Unlike the original game and other mods, Boyfriend has full dialogue here instead of beeps.
* TakingYouWithMe: [[spoiler:Defied. IRIS threatens to detonate Hex in the hopes of pulling this trope, but Daddy Dearest remarks that doing so would not salvage IRIS's reputation in the Underworld, which is not only ruined by their loss with Boyfriend, but is ultimately putting them out of business as they speak. To the point that even power stations that keep their operations running would soon enough halt their bombing attempt, convincing them to not bother.]]
* TVHeadRobot: Hex has a monitor for a head that displays the arrow [[spoiler:or error screens]] when he's singing.

* AWinnerIsYou: In the first week, you only get one screen of text and an image for beating the four main songs, though it's still more than the original game and other mods, which have NoEnding. Averted in Weekend which does have an ending.
