* CosmicHorrorStory: The world is nothing more than a playground for divine beings that are explicitly described as not having a concept of good or evil, and the only way to keep the Great Being Cthulhu from waking up and ending humanity is to conduct horrific sacrifices and experiments to please the divine beings who want to protect humanity, all while a cult of Deep Ones tries to awaken their lord and sabotage the sacrifices. Even in the GoldenEnding where both immediate threats are taken out, the divine beings are still out there and its not clear how the world will fare with the sacrifices no longer active.

* WellIntentionedExtremist: Dr. J, in the interest of protecting humanity and keeping Cthulhu sealed away, conducts horrific experiments and human sacrifices to please the divine ones keeping the barrier up. She clearly doesn't enjoy doing it, but feels she has no choice.
* YouCannotGraspTheTrueForm: The divine beings are said to be beyond human comprehension, and trying to learn their secrets would kill anyone who tried.
-->We can't be sure what kind of beings a divine being would be. The only certain thing is that their plans of consciousness would be well beyond our own, and any human mind trying to comprehend it would be damaged to the point of implosion. There's no way for us to sustain enough damage to reach a similar level of consciousness. You could say that the existence of those beings would be a catastrophe for humanity itself.

''Savior of the Abyss'' is a Lovecraftian Sci-Fi ExplorerHorror game by ALLLAF GAMES. Unlike most, it's made in UsefulNotes/{{Unity}}, but is openly inspired by UsefulNotes/RPGMaker games like ''VideoGame/{{Ib}}'', ''Videogame/MadFather'', and ''VideoGame/TheWitchsHouse'' and has similar mechanics.

You play as Stella, a young girl who awakens in a strange facility with blood, mutants, and other horrors everywhere. She learns that the facility is \used to conduct sacrificial rituals to please [[EldritchAbomination eldritch forces]] so that they may protect humanity in turn, but have been infiltrated and subverted by a cult. As she discovers the history of this place and why she is here, Stella must escape the facility with her life.
----
!This game contains examples of:
* BigBadEnsemble: [[MadScientist Dr. J]] is the scientist in charge of the facility that Stella is trapped in, and runs their horrific experiments and HumanSacrifice rituals as an offering to her eldritch gods [[WellIntentionedExtremist so they may protect humanity]]. On the other end is [[spoiler:the tentacled entity inside Stella]], the "prophet" of the cult of FishPeople who infiltrated the facility in order to free their Lord so he may destroy humanity and return the Earth back to them.
* FishPeople: One of the two antagonist groups is a cult of fish mutants who are basically the [[Literature/TheShadowOverInnsmouth Deep Ones]] in all but name, though for some reason they worship [[Literature/TheCallOfCthulhu Cthulhu]] here instead of Dagon and Hydra.
* MultipleEndings:
** Ending 1: A true savior: If you succesfully escape from the FinalBoss, [[spoiler:the prophet possessing Stella kills Dr. J, reveals itself, and releases the Great Being from its imprisonment, allowing it to surface and destroy humanity]].
** Ending 2: False Savior: If you fail to escape from the FinalBoss at the end, [[spoiler:Dr. J captures Stella and makes her the next sacrifice to keep the Great Being sealed away]].
** [[GoldenEnding Ending 3: Savior of a girl]]: If you [[spoiler:contruct the Orb of truth]] and get the requirements for Ending 2, [[spoiler:the prophet will be forced out of Stella and vanish with Dr. J, allowing Stella to leave into the outside world]].
