Following several delays of its original 2020 release, the game was released for [[UsefulNotes/Playstation5 PlayStation 5]], [[UsefulNotes/Playstation4 PlayStation 4]] and PC on December 16th, 2021, with a three-month exclusivity detail before launching on other consoles.

* DarkWorld: By using the V.A.N.N.I. mask, Cassie can see the AR world where she can see what parts of the world are digital constructs she can walk through, hack the pizzaplex's systems and [[TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers find AR plushies to collect.]] Though the way the AR world works is something of a MindScrew, considering it allows her to bypass obstacles in the real world in seemingly impossible ways.

** The cardboard standee of the four Glamrock animatronics in the main lobby only has Roxanne and Chica intact, while Freddy and Monty have been destroyed. [[spoiler:Both Roxanne and Chica survive the events of the game, while Freddy is absent (aside from a damaged prototype) and Monty's fate after being electrocuted in the water is ambiguous.]]

* ObviousBeta: The game has many [[AIBreaker jarring]] [[GameBreakingBug bugs]][[note]]including a lot of smaller errors, such as one of the arcade machines the storage area being untextured[[/note]], missing dialogue, cut content, and basic quality of life issues that plague its release, making it obvious that the game was rushed to be released or at minimum needed more time in development in order to be fully polished. It also features opportunities for innocent players to accidentally break the game's sequence nearly beyond repair. * SympatheticVillainDespicableVillain: [[NeverSmileAtACrocodile Montgomery Gator]] and [[SavageWolf Roxanne Wolf]]. While both were BrainwashedAndCrazy in the base game, in the sequel DLC ''Ruin'', while Monty and Roxy are no longer brainwashed, Roxy starts out as a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds as she pursues Gregory for stealing her eyes, but stops when she almost kills [[MoralityPet Cassie]], and eventually pulls a HeelFaceTurn to save the latter from danger. Monty, on the other hand, remains homicidal and is eventually electrocuted to death.

* PuzzleBoss: To get the enemy animatronics' parts, you'll need to lure them into specific areas with dangerous traps: Chica needs to be lured into the trash compactor with Monty's Party Mix, Roxy needs to be run over by a test car in Roxy Raceway, and Monty needs to be sent falling down using the Splash Bucket. Monty's fight is the closest to an actual boss fight as you're required to fill the Splash Bucket before dumping it while Monty is constantly chasing you.

* SympatheticVillainDespicableVillain: [[NeverSmileAtACrocodile Montgomery Gator]] and [[SavageWolf Roxanne Wolf]]. While both were BrainwashedAndCrazy in the base game, it's strongly implied that Monty murdered Glamrock Bonnie in order to replace him ''before'' getting brainwashed, and that he was plotting to kill Glamrock Freddy in order to become the lead star. In contrast, Roxy is a TragicMonster who has an InferioritySuperiorityComplex and gets a HumanizingTears scene. In the sequel DLC ''Ruin'', while Monty and Roxy are no longer brainwashed, Roxy starts out as a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds as she pursues Gregory for stealing her eyes, but stops when she almost kills [[MoralityPet Cassie]], and eventually pulls a HeelFaceTurn to save the latter from danger. Monty, on the other hand, remains homicidal and is eventually electrocuted to death.

* DownerEnding: [[spoiler:The normal ending of the game awakens the Mimic; though Cassie evades it, Gregory is forced to make the elevator she's in malfunction and crash to stop it from following them up. [[UncertainDoom Her fate, as it stands, is unknown.]] However, Roxy's voice is heard calling for Cassie, implying this might not be the end for her. However, upon careful inspection of Roxy's fight with the Mimic, the Mimic can be heard learning to mimic Roxy's voice, implying that Cassie [[HopeSpot may end up in danger after all]].]]

** Near the beginning of the game, Cassie can see an area with a damaged staff bot and claw marks on the walls. Near is also a fence that's been bursted through by something close to the ground. [[spoiler:A few moments later, say hello to Shattered Monty]].

** [[spoiler:Gregory's voice]] starts changing in tone while traversing the final area of the game. Coupled with the Candy Cadet in the same area telling a story about a monster that [[spoiler:copies sounds that indicate safety]] to lure a child into a false sense of security, it's one of the final indications that [[spoiler:Cassie has been following the directions of the Mimic for the entire game.]]

** The ending of the game where [[spoiler:Cassie puts on the mask and sees a hallucination of a desirable happy outcome, in this case of Gregory being in a safe place]] is titled the [[Film/{{Brazil}} Brazil Ending]] in the game files.

** Even more so, one of the notes warns the kitchen staff that Chica's repairs will come out of their paychecks if they dispose of pizza or pizza-flavored merchandise in the garbage compactor and she damages herself in pursuit of it. They still fired all of them, so [[spoiler:none of them can be held responsible for Chica's repairs when Gregory uses the garbage compactor to damage her]].

** While entering Roxy Raceway, there is a chance that the broken Staffbot that normally repeats "Do you need assistance?" before his head falls off will instead start speaking in a heavily garbled and distorted version of Gregory's voice. In the game files, it is shown that Gregory is actually speaking, [[spoiler:not the Mimic, hinting it's an attempt for Gregory to communicate with Cassie and warn her]].

* HeroicSecondWind: After being forced to [[spoiler:deactivate Roxy]] in order to reach [[spoiler:what later turns out to be not Gregory, when the Mimic tries to attack Cassie, Roxy quickly interferes, having reactivated just in time to stall the Mimic for long enough for Cassie to escape]].

* DaylightHorror: The Mega Pizzaplex is usually more well-lit and friendly-looking than the shoddy run-down pizzerias of old, but this is cold comfort to poor Gregory.

** The broken

* WhamShot: By the time you finally get down to the sinkhole, [[spoiler:Cassie quickly finds out that Gregory was ''never'' inside the Pizzaplex to begin with in this story, instead being impersonated by yet another animatronic. The real deal chimes in after Cassie briefly evades the animatronic to bring this truth to light for her.]]

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** In one section, Monty swims around a half-submerged area to attempt to get at Cassie. However, as Monty is an animatronic who lacks any kind of exterior shell to protect his electronics, [[spoiler:he short-circuits once she's in the clear, courtesy of Cassie powering a door and the electricity seeping into the water, and isn't seen again]].
** In spite of how cool and secretive they feel to use as kid, commercially available walkie-talkies are not a secure communications method and are easily hacked, especially by another version of the same device. [[spoiler:Cassie learns this the hard way when the Mimic simply uses another one to override the real Gregory's attempts to reach her.]]

** At the start of chapter 9, said by Gregory: "[[spoiler:Roxy is the final node. You need to deativate her.]]"

** Firstly, various sections require you to use a replication of either Gregory or Cassidy's voice to lure hostile animatronics away from key locations.
** Secondly, you can find [[TheBusCameBack Candy Cadet]] in the depths beneath the Pizzaplex, who will tell you a story if you find enough tokens scattered around the area. He tells the story of a mother and son who lived in a cabin in the woods, hunted by a monster before the mother captured the monster and locked it up in the basement. The boy was afraid of the noises the monster made each night, but the mother would soothe the boy by singing him a lullaby. Eventually, the monster listens and learns to replicate the lullaby, singing it to the boy when the mother is away in order to lure him into setting them free, and... [[NothingIsScarier that's where the story ends]]. Both examples serve to foreshadow [[spoiler:the true identity of the "Gregory" trapped beneath the Pizzaplex]].
