* EstablishingTeamShot: Near the end of the game's opening sequence, after Ace raises the dominion's flag, the other members of Class Zero begin to appear around him as he recites the page quote. As he finishes, they all toss their cloaks off and reveal their weapons, about to fight off the ongoing Militesi invasion. ** PlayingWithFire: Ifrit-class Eidolons [[LightningBruiser hit hard and hit fast]], and can do [[JackOfAllTrades just about anything]]. The dominion summons them at every opportunity.
** DishingOutDirt: Golem-class Eidolons [[StoneWall are slow, but can take a lot of hits]] and [[MightyGlacier hit pretty hard themselves]]. Rubrum's main defensive force.
** AnIcePerson: Shiva-class Eidolons [[FragileSpeedster aren't very durable, but skate circles around enemies]]. Ice being ineffective against Militesi machines, they usually fight Concordian monsters.
** SingleStrokeBattle: Odin-class Eidolons and their [[AbsurdlySharpBlade Zantetsuken]] arrive in rank and file. The dominion loves cutting things up with these guys.
** GravityMaster: Diabolos-class Eidolons [[CastFromHitPoints can endanger your teammates]] in exchange for [[GlassCannon the highest damage-dealing potential of any Eidolons]]. Usually deployed for special ops.
** BreathWeapon: Bahamut-class Eidolons will make [[DeathFromAbove craters out of crystal jammers]]. Rubrum's air support for large-scale operations.

* RealityEnsues: Militesi Supersoldiers empty a clip from their firearms at chest height, and promptly graduate from the ImperialStormstrooperMarksmanshipAcademy. Contrast with the standard-issue soldiers, who fire a single shot and WILL hit the cadet they're aiming at if said cadet doesn't move.

** At the end of the Battle of Judecca, three Class Zero members have a short cutscene talking about Rubrum's standing against the Militesi-Concordian coalition. All characters who can be present in that mission have a speaking line, allowing for different combinations of speakers each time the cutscene is played.

* FailedASpotCheck: In a cutscene unlockable in the Rubicus that occurs during the liberation, Eight claims to be unarmed when surrendering to a squadron of Militesi, who somehow manage to miss the ''brass knuckles'' on the backs of his gloves.

** For Shinryu Celestia, if all your party members get KO'ed, the EleventhHourSuperpower Bahamut-0 will be summoned to defeat her in your place, allowing you to control ATasteOfPower you won't normally get elsewhere. But, if you're aiming for rank S on this mission and need to lessen your casualties, then it is possible to defeat her with your characters, provided you watch out for her and know when to exploit her Breaksight pattern.

** Gilgamesh has an amusing version in that he never ''deliberately'' makes use of it; the shield he wears on his back nullifies any attacks that hit it ([[NighInvulnerable if you're even strong enough to deal any damage without a Breaksight]]).

** Subverted for normal gameplay; Potions and Ethers and their variants heal identical ''percentages'', and all healing portals restore HP and MP both. However, Ethers are decently more ''expensive'' than Potions, and HP gradually regenerates for Class Zero with [[TheVeryDefinitelyFinalDungeon one exception]].
** Inverted for Eidolons, who have the opposite problem; their ''MP'' auto-regenerates, but with the exception of certain Eidolons with a Regen function, it's ''impossible'' for them to restore HP.

** Usually storyline missions are this, with Save Points and [[HealingCheckpoint Healing Checkpoints]] in between battle zones and objectives. (Note that when replaying these missions, the Save function is not available.)

** In general, the game is designed to be experienced in more than one playthrough. You cannot obtain everything the first time around and there is extra content only available in the second (and maybe third) playthroughs. Good luck if you are not a big fan of this game.

* ArtificialStupidity: The Support Personnel AI cannot do a stealth mission to save its life. Further, it has no idea how to handle Ace. And without Deuce playing a Concerto, it tends to hesitate in the middle of the crossfire.
