* SecretArt: As of late, two techniques are exclusive to certain elements:
** The Water element holds a monopoly on inflicting Frostbite.
** The Life Shield is exclusive to Shadow, with its only current wielder being Grace.

* StandardStatusEffects: There are 12 different status effects, which all prevent you from transforming while they're active. Some of them can also be inflicted onto enemies by certain characters.

** Burn damages the character every few seconds.
** Curse prevents the character from using any skills or helper skills.

** Poison damages the character every few seconds. It lasts longer than Burn, causing it to deal more damage overall.
** Stun immobilizes the character and cannot be ended early.
** Sleep immobilizes the character, but it ends early if they're hit.
** Caged traps the character in place, but the cage can be destroyed by attacking it.
** Defense Down and Attack Down are ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin, although they're the only status effects that don't prevent transforming.

** "Fire Emblem: Kindred Spirits" has three battles against other {{Guest Fighter}}s. First, the prince and crew have to break Peony out of a black mana-induced trance. Second, they have to halt a rampaging Tiki. Finally, they are tested by Chrom to see of they possess the resolve to proceed with their plan.

** To make a High Dragon weapon depending on class and element, the respective 5.3 (5 star tier 3) weapon has to be made, along with making the second tier of its void weapon from its opposite void dragon (i.e. water weapons needing parts from Void Agni).

* MutuallyExclusivePartyMembers: Adventurers cannot be on the same team as an alternate version of themselves. The only exception is co-op, i.e. Regular Ranzal with Gala Ranzal via two or more different players controlling either.

** Raid events are events where four players team up in a co-op with a team of 16 adventurers to defeat a raid boss within a time limit, hence being a "raid" event. Raid events will generally give the player a free 4* adventurer to counter the raid boss (i.e. a Water raid giving the player a Wind adventurer to fight the Water raid boss) and the adventurer will become permanent in the player's roster after raising enough "friendship" points. Raid events utilize a special lottery system that uses "blazons" to obtain rewards from the lottery boxes. The lottery boxes includes a 5* Dragon of the raid element as well as a special wyrmprint, both of which can be maxed out. Raid events also utilize an emblem system that consist of bronze, silver, and gold emblems, all of them can be obtained by completing the raid and boss events. Players can obtain otherworld fragments, which can be used to host a co-op for the raid event. The otherworld fragments can be obtained exclusively from the boss event. Occasionally, they will have access to an "EX" mode of a raid boss, which is slightly harder than the normal raid boss fight and requires Otherworld Fragments, which are RareRandomDrops from the raid boss, but yield more emblem rewards. Once you collect enough emblems of each kind, the three Otherworld Keys you obtain unlock an ''[[HarderThanHard Omega]]'' version of the boss, which can require upwards of 20,000 Might to challenge, which is the same as Expert-level [[BrutalBonusLevel High Dragon Trials.]]

* GuestFighter: As part of a crossover with ''VideoGame/FireEmblemHeroes'', Marth, Alfonse, Veronica, and Fjorm are playable adventurers.

*** Comedically in ''Dragalia Life'' #129, when she tries to wait in the Prince's bed to make him sleep with her but she fell asleep first since she doesn't have a Sleep Res ability.

* LetsYouAndHimFight: During "Fire Emblem: Lost Heroes", the Prince's crew come across Alfonse escorting Veronica. As the Prince's crew saw someone resembling Veronica leading Dyrenell troops earlier, they assume Alfonse to be part of Dyrenell and demand that he and Veronica surrender to them. Alfonse, on the other hand, saved the real Veronica from Dyrenell troops pursuing her and assumes the Prince and crew to be part of Dyrenell as well. As neither side refuses to submit to the other, they square off.

* BadFuture: A doomed future is featured prominently in the "Fractured Futures" event. In it, the Halidom is in ruins, and most of its inhabitants either are dead or have fled elsewhere to continue the fight.

* NoCasualtiesRun: Many quests grant a bonus award if no one in your party is incapacitated.
* NoDamageRun: Some quests grant a bonus if the character you control never takes damage.

** Phares is far too engrossed with feeding his curiosity and carrying out his experiments to actually interact much with everyone else or care about the ongoing war. He claims that morality doesn't matter to him, merely facts and the quest for more knowledge. [[spoiler:He's suffering from the incurable disease of wyrmscale and is willing to do anything to avoid succumbing to it completely.]]

** No one even knows what happened to the fifth heir, or at least, by Euden's time has bothered to explain to him who they were before they disappeared. [[spoiler:Chapter 12 indicates that they are TheDreaded as both Leonidas and Chelle are disturbed at the mere notion of Phares bringing them back into Alberian politics.]]

* {{Foreshadowing}}: Characters like Noelle and Kirsty hailing from North Grastaea has been slow buildup for their homeland's entrance into the main story, as chapter 13 reveals that the Dyrenell Empire as led by Valxy will clash with encroaching troops from the north.

* FlavorText: A lot of the world's lore is found in weapon and Wymprint descriptions or in unlockable Dragon Stories.

** Chapter 10's EX boss is a giant space cube that, in a fantasy setting, is severely out of place and has no reaction to anyone at all, serving as a BonusBoss. Decoding the cypher for its attacks by using the epithets gained for beating it (Binary Decreaser, subtract two and Septenary Increaser, add seven) does reveal [[https://old.reddit.com/r/DragaliaLost/comments/d3516q/something_mysterious_is_going_on_in_chapter_10_ex/ several references]] to the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Horizons New Horizons]] space probe which flew by Pluto, the Japanese name of Chthonius, so there ''is'' a thematic link to the chapter. What it actually ''is'' has yet to be explained though.
** Chapter 11 also has an EX boss that's a space cube where while the element is changed, the code in its attacks is different as well.
** Chapter 12's EX boss is, once again, [[RuleOfThree another space cube]] which also has a different element and attack pattern.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: This gets asked in-universe during Chapter 6. The Prince is 7th in line to the throne, Emile is 6th and Valyx is 4th. This makes Ranzal ask what happened to the 5th. The Prince has no idea since whatever happened was well before his time.

** A crossover promotional event occurs between ''Dragalia Lost'' and ''VideoGame/FireEmblemHeroes''. During the event, players could summon Marth, Fjorm, and Veronica, while Alfonse is the GuestStarPartyMember requiring friendship points to be a permanent member.
** An event involving ''VideoGame/{{Mega Man|Classic}}'' features the Blue Bomber as the GuestStarPartyMember who requires friendship points. Rush also appears as Mega Man's exclusive dragon form.
** An event involving ''VideoGame/MonsterHunter'' [[note]]specifically ''Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate'' due to the inclusion of the Soratorium[[/note]], making it the second Creator/{{Capcom}} crossover. The Rathalos makes an appearance as a recruitable character with its Dreadking version being obtainable in the gacha. During the event, Fatalis is also recruitable through the gacha as well as a raid boss. Hunter themed versions of Berserker, Vanessa and Sarisse were added to the gacha as well.

* BlackBeadyEyes: Anytime someone in Euden's imagination has gone through Celliera's training, their eyes turn into these.

* TheSyndicate: There is one in the world called [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin the Syndicate]].

** A typical trend when it comes to titles made by Cygames. Several ''Rage of Bahamut'' characters make [[TheCameo cameos]] in this game in the form of Wyrmprints. But the notable examples of this trope include the dragons, the designs of some are based on another Cygames title, ''Knights of Glory''. Other cases include having exactly the same version of existing ''Rage'' characters but with minor changes (such as Lily and Leviathan), or ''Dragalia'' characters being [[{{Expy}} look-alikes]] of those who originate from other games made by this developer (such as ''Dragalia'''s Harle being almost identical with Sandalphon of ''Granblue Fantasy'', from the hair down to the color scheme of his armor).

* AprilFoolsDay: In 2019, starting up the game brings players to Notte's Slumber Shot, a top-down shmup in which Notte takes on fiends, with Midgardsormr as the boss. The difficulties available? [[IdiosyncraticDifficultyLevels Sweet, Sassy, and Molassy]].

* AngelsDevilsAndSquid: On the angel side, you have [[CrystalDragonJesus the Ilian Church and the holywrym]]. For devils, you have Morsayati and his army of fiends. And then there's the Ancient One, who's very, very heavily implied to be [[Franchise/CthulhuMythos literally Yog Sothoth]], as well as the 5-star Shadow dragon Nyarlathotep.

** Euden is the most well-adjusted, though he's a bit ''too'' obsessed with protecting his twin sister at all costs and has a hang-up over being the youngest child, and therefore neglected by most of his already grown siblings.

* TimeToUnlockMoreTruePotential: Certain Flame and Shadow adventurers have access to a special Mana Circle called the Mana Spiral. It takes a lot to unlock it, however; first, their fifth Mana Circle needs to be fully activated, which requires lots of Eldwater, then certain rare materials to unbind it, one of which is Void Seeds. The Mana Spiral itself requires even rarer materials to upgrade, including Abaddon/Incandescence Orbs (can only be obtained via some Void Battles and Very Hard campaign maps,) Void Dragon Hearts of the appropriate element, and Greatspheres and Dragon Tails of the appropriate element.
