A 16-Bit console style role-playing game, with tongue in cheek [[CthulhuMythos Lovecraftian]] humor, rampant [[LampshadeHanging Lampshading]] of JRPG tropes, plenty of GenreSavvy, and NoFourthWall to speak of, it is both a loving tribute and parody of the 16-bit JRPG.

** The Mecha on the space ship almost qualifies. It has roughly 5 times as much hp and deals a lot more damage than any other enemy in the zone, and gives 5 times as much experience and gold as a regular enemy pack. However, they always show up alone so aren't that difficult to take down compared to some of the more dangerous enemy combinations that complement each other.

* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: Aside from the premise of the game being about a mage defeating Cthulhu, causing him to lose his powers until he proves himself a hero, the final boss is [[spoiler:Azathoth, another powerful being from the Franchise/CthulhuMythos.]] Since Cthulu is the player character, he ''will'' get punched out when you screw up.
