As the series goes on, she becomes far less standoffish to the point where [[MoralityPet Luz becomes the first real friend she's had in]] ''[[MoralityPet years]]'' and even [[spoiler:develops a ''massive'' crush on her. After Amity starts to truly soften out and the two girls become girlfriends, Amity is almost exclusively loving and affectionate to her.]]

The only one he consistently treats well is [[MoralityPet Beth]] and it still didn't stop him from abandoning her in her youth. However, it's very clear that no matter how toxic and mean he is about it, he does love his grandkids. He becomes extremely jealous whenever Morty or Summer start admiring someone more than him, he does make gadgets when they ask him to fix their problems and [[PapaWolf should you get the idea to hurt his family (including, yes, Jerry)]], you likely [[Main/Determinator won't survive the attempt.]]

However, he is also prone to showing annoyance though snark and has a confrontational side whenever [[CatsAreMean Ron]][[JerkWithAHeartOfGold ald]] is around or whenever [[DogsAreDumb Hal]] says or does things that sets him off.
