History Tsundere / Anime

** By the start of Part 2 and a late in Part 1, Sakura Haruno. She used to be more harsh (in the anime it is more apparent,) but eventually mellowed out with a bit of CharacterDevelopment. She used to hate Naruto and crushed on his rival endlessly, but throughout the series she gets more gentle with him. She worried for his safety and cares for him deeply, but still has a short temper often triggered by Naruto when he's being stupid, rude, accidentally rude, perverted, or reckless. Minato, Naruto's father, confirms this by comparing Sakura to his wife, Kushina, while she was healing Naruto during the Fourth Shinobi War.

[[spoiler:After Sanji compliments the one feature she was always ashamed about, [[SplitPersonality her personality appears to have literally split into "Tsun" and "Dere"]], resulting in a bizarre character that is deeply in love with Sanji (even acting like how Sanji acts around beautiful women) and threatens him with an agonizing death in seconds]].

** Nami has nothing on Pudding though, who seems to be a direct parody of this trope.

* In {{Yaoi}} series ''Manga/SekaiIchiHatsukoi'', we have Ritsu. He's normally a nice, friendly, and helpful guy to everyone he meets. However, when it comes to his boss/ex-boyfriend from high school, Takano, he turns tsuntsun on him. This is because Ritsu vowed to never fall in love again and a misunderstood moment that led to the two breaking up.

* ''LightNovel/TheAsteriskWar'': [[BadassPrincess Julis Riessfeld]] is hot-headed, stubborn, and can be cold-hearted to those she is unfamiliar with. However, underneath that harsh, unfriendly facade, is a sweet girl who would do just about anything for a friend.

* ''LightNovel/SoICantPlayH'': Initially, [[FieryRedhead Lisara]] is dismissive towards Ryosuke's attempts to hit on her, because all he really cared about was [[LustObject her body.]] So she usually berates him, sometimes violently, when he annoys her. But as his feelings gradually change to genuine affection, it causing her opinion of him to change as well, though she stubbornly refuses to admit it. The first clear indication is seen in episode 4:

* ''LightNovel/{{Slayers}}'': Lina can be seen as a Tsundere in the anime, specially obvious in the ''NEXT'' season where [[spoiler:she blushes and stammers when Gourry calls her out and mentions his BodyguardCrush on her]] and later when [[spoiler:she has a brief but ''very'' intense breakdown after he's kidnapped by Phibrizzo]].

** Kaname Chidori in Fumoffu. Her dominant 'tsun' side is mostly because Sousuke is more commonly detonating parts of the school building and traumatizing her fellow students than doing anything worth going 'dere' over. She's also ONLY 'tsun' towards Sousuke, though she will speak up against jerks/bullies (which actually gets her into trouble several times in ''Anime/FullMetalPanicFumoffu''). To everyone else, she's pretty balanced. Her backstory suggests this is due to her American upbringing which made her too outspoken and aggressive to fit into Japanese culture. Apparently American women are considered Tsundere by default.

** There's also a subversion in regards to [[spoiler: Akito Sohma]]. She was ''starting'' to shape up as a Harsh Tsundere, according to [[spoiler: Yuki]]'s testimony (he remembers her yelling at him, then stopping herself and picking up a bowl gently), but at some point [[BreakTheCutie she completely lost it]] (read: [[spoiler: the pshycological abuse coming from her mother Ren got to her head]]) and everything got worse. [[spoiler: She actually became a mix of {{Yandere}}, ManipulativeBitch and BrokenBird, and it would take her many years and a MASSIVE BreakTheHaughty to even start to get better]].

* Misaki from ''Manga/HanaNoMizoShiru'' starts out this way. He's very reserved, and frequently acts irritated towards Arikawa (understandably, after he embarasses the poor boy in public by telling him that [[HomoeroticDream he loves him in his dreams]]). He gradually warms up to him, though, acting less irritable over time and getting [[CrushBlush flustered]] in his presence. By the time they [[spoiler: get together]], he's lost most of his ''tsun'', and mostly comes across as shy rather than standoffish.

*** Haruhi is also a [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstruction]]: What would happen if a Tsundere acted that way toward ''everyone'' they knew, rather than just love interests? It's slighly more [[ShipTease pronounced]] toward Kyon (she doesn't make excuses as much with the others), but not by much.

* Kyoko Otonashi from ''Manga/MaisonIkkoku'' expresses Tsundere qualities as a ''subversion'' of the YamatoNadeshiko personality: basically, her outwardly [[YamatoNadeshiko perfect Japanese housewife]] persona hides her childish, almost bipolar bouts of tsundere-ness. She is an interesting case, as in that when the audience meets her parents, it's shown that her mother is a tsundere and in flashbacks, that Kyoko was even more openly a tsundere in her youth. (Interacting with her parents seems to bring this out in her). It's as if Kyoko is the mascot for teenage tsunderes who manage to grow-up and become the YamatoNadeshiko that most of them want to be (and it's been speculated that she became a YN [[WidowWoman after having been widowed very early]], ratheer than anything else). However, her old tsundere behavior is still there, ready to breakout if she relives old childhood experiences.

* ''Anime/PeterPannoBouken'' has Tiger Lily as a Harsh type... and it makes Wendy Darling a Sweet one. She's the most maternal and sweet girl, like any other of ther incarnations, but this one also gives her a HotBlooded side that makes her downright ''terrifying'' ijn the rare times she when she gets mad, like the time when she went AlmightyMom ''on none other than Captain Hook'' and was THIS close to go TalkingTheMonsterToDeath on him.

* In ''Anime/RomeoXJuliet'', whereas Curio's Harsh male Tsundere tendences are a bit arguable depending on how one sees [[HoYay his]] [[HeterosexualLifePartners relationship]] with [[ArcherArchetype Francisco]], TeamMom Cordelia is definitely a Sweet Tsundere towards [[spoiler: Benvolio]].

** Kiyone sometimes is interpreted as one as well. Particualrly in her relationship with Mihoshi (who from Kiyone's perspective might be considered a weird form of TheRival combined with TheLoad). Since Mihoshi is a GeniusDitz, the constant clash is widely interpreted as LesYay.

* From ''Manga/HanaYoriDango''. Tsukushi is this to Tsukasa, thanks mainly to Tsukasa's initial JerkAss behavior toward her. She even [[LoveAtFirstPunch kicks him in the face on one of their first meetings]]!

* Makise Kurisu of ''VisualNovel/SteinsGate'' depicts clear signs of this in her relationship with Okabe. It's even [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] by Daru early in the series. Of course, Okabe Rintarou is hardly better in this respect.

* Akira Kogami from ''Manga/LuckyStar''. Her ''dere'' side is just a facade she puts up on ''[[ShowWithinAShow Lucky Channel]]''. Her ''tsun'' side is TERRIFYING; it's no wonder that [[spoiler:her co-host Minoru completely snaps in episode 21]].

** Nami attitude to "love-cook" [[ChefOfIron Sanji]] is strong example, despite casually flirting with him on their first meeting (so she wouldn't have to pay for the food) Nami remains obvious and uncaring to Sanji [[AllTakeAndNoGive always throwing himself at her]], only beating him up when he gets too grabby. ** Nami is very open towards main character Luffy when he comes crashing into her life, but quickly gets aggressive when he tells her about his [[{{Pirate}} pirate nature]] due to her DarkAndTroubledPast with pirates. Nami continues to dislike Luffy for a while then she after numerous heroic deeds she sees he is a "good" pirate and much nicer to him. Then she pulls a [[EtTuBrute betrayal]] and her vicious side surfaces again acting all {{FemmeFatle}} to Luffy and the boys mocking them for trusting her so easily. Luffy refuses to believe Nami is as cruel as she says and he's right as Nami is just putting on a act to protect and save her village from TheBigBad. When her act fails and Nami is left sobbing helpless she finally gives in and begs Luffy to help her. Luffy naturally agrees and [[CollapsingLair smashes Arlong Park to the ground]] after this Nami has unwavering loyalty to Luffy and is much closer to him. Nami is still very bitchy and harsh with Luffy for most of series (though this due to unmovable stupid ManChild nature) though when going gets tough she becomes very doting and nice, hell the majority of the [[Anime/OnePieceFlimStrongWorld Tenth movie]] is about their relationship.

* ''Manga/{{Hellsing}}'''s very own Integra in the Manga acts highly Tsundere upon the portions of the story that isn't about gore and war, flinging BAKA and URUSAI at Alucard when he pushes her buttons. Or when Seras brings up something that embarrasses her around Alucard or ''about'' Alucard at the end. Seras acts like this too towards Pip Bernadotte.
