* ''{{Baccano}}'': Amazing, amazing series. The JigsawPuzzlePlot keeps you hooked to the show, and all the characters manage to be entertaining in one way or another. This series is how LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters should be done.
* ''{{Bakemonogatari}}'': Very heavily dialogue-oriented, which makes it quite suited to StudioShaft's strange visuals.
* ''BibliothecaMysticaDeDantalian'': Somewhat gothic and surreal. It's a great watch if you want to watch something short and fantastical.
* ''CodeGeass'': Also rather flawed, but it's my GatewaySeries to anime, and the first heavily cynical work that I've watched. It's definitely one of the better anime out there.
* ''CowboyBebop'': I can see why they call it a classic. It's good, but it's not exactly my cup of tea though.
* ''FiveCentimetersPerSecond'': While it was definitely lovely SceneryPorn, the characters felt largely lacking to give the romance impact. It was, however, very beautiful eye-candy for an hour-long film.
* ''FullmetalAlchemist'': Oh my god. I can't believe I forgot to list this one. HiromuArakawa is a fricking genius. It's a through mix of awesomeness, badassery and hilarity with a healthy dash of heartwarming moments. It broke my heart to see this series end, and it ended beautifully.
* ''HanasakuIroha'': A heartwarming slice-of-life about working at an inn. Heavily character driven as a result. Worth a watch.
* ''HaruhiSuzumiya'': A very entertaining, GenreBusting and {{Troperiffic}} novel. Very much worth a read.
* ''HellGirl'': I've only watched the second season, but it's really, really good. I loved its treatment of HumansAreBastards.
* ''HighSchoolOfTheDead'': It's more of a guilty pleasure, but it's good in its own right. Just ignore the copious amounts of {{Fanservice}}.
* ''KamisamaDolls'': I was pretty surprised by this show. It's unexpectedly interesting and cool. I want a second season.

* ''OreNoImoutoGaKonnaNiKawaiiWakeGaNai'': Surprisingly good. It's a nice SliceOfLife show about {{Otaku}}, and it's a nice look into otaku culture.
* ''PantyAndStockingWithGarterbelt'': RefugeInAudacity. That is all.
* ''ParanoiaAgent'': What a fucked up anime. But it's pretty interesting in covering the topic of fear, paranoia, and escapism.
* ''PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'': Anime of the year for me. A beautifully presented tearing apart of the MagicalGirl premise. Deconstruction or not, it's still a great story.
* ''SoRaNoWoTo'': Calling it "K-On! in the military" doesn't do it justice. It's a really bittersweet show about and against war.
* ''ToAruMajutsuNoIndex'': This is one of those shows where you shouldn't [[UminekoNoNakuKoroNi think about things to hard. You'll just get a headache.]] It's more fun to watch if you don't, anyway.
* ''{{Toradora}}'': A cute and heartwarming romantic comedy. Yeah, yeah, I know, I said I didn't like romance, but I just love the characters.
* ''YuGiOh'': The first series. Probably the first anime that I've watched faithfully. Also used to be a fan of the card game.

* ''AmericanGods'': My favorite novel. An awesome take on what the gods of old would be like in the new era. Also, NorseMythology.
* ''ArtemisFowl'': A good UrbanFantasy series. It gets a little screwy later on though.
* ''GoodOmens'': Damn good and hilarious rendition of the apocalypse, as to be expected from NeilGaiman and TerryPratchett.
* ''HarryPotter'': I'm not one of the die-hard fans, but this is a really good series. The mythos is also rather well-made, and the ending is satisfying.
* ''{{Haunted}}'': A rather disturbing metafictional story by ChuckPalahniuk. It's darkly humorous and pretty metafictional.
* ''{{Ilustrado}}'': Rather postmodern and an ingenious way of presenting a story. Saying anything more would be spoilers. Also, it's by a Filipino author. This is a book which changed my view of literature in the Philippines.
* ''TheBookThief'': A bittersweet novel about war. Kinda like SoRaNoWoTo, except with books.
* ''TheDivineComedy'': Poetry at its finest. Also a nice satire of the condition of Medieval Europe.
* ''TheGiver'': My first look into the {{Dystopia}} genre. It's a good coming-of-age story and probably my gateway novel.
* ''TheGraveyardBook'': As expected of NeilGaiman. Another bittersweet novel about growing up, recycled IN A GRAVEYARD.
* ''TheIliad'': The UrExample of GAR-ness.
* ''TheKiteRunner'': Simply beautiful. A nice spin on the theme "responsibility", and also a TearJerker novel.

* ''DevilSurvivor'': Think ''MiraiNikki'', except that there's a time limit and you can summon demons to fight. The story is executed very well, even incorporating the gameplay into its theme of "ScrewDestiny".
* ''Left4Dead'': Because ZOMBIES
* ''{{Pokemon}}'': I've discovered this relatively late (2006, I think), but immediately got addicted to it for a good two years. I think I may have outgrown it, but I still love it.
* ''{{Recettear}}'': Capitalism, ho! A simple game, but its gameplay is rather novel and the script is [[{{Woolseyism}} rather well-made]]. Makes it worth playing.

** ''KaraNoKyoukai'': A beautifully animated adaptation of the novel. It has an unconventional philosophy about murder and death, and it goes even deeper into the world-building aspect of the Nasuverse.
** ''{{Tsukihime}}'': My GatewaySeries into visual novels. I don't remember much of how I felt while playing it, but I know I enjoyed it thoroughly.
* ''NineHoursNinePersonsNineDoors'': Awesome puzzle game-VisualNovel hybrid. It's like {{Umineko}} [[XMeetsY meets]] AceAttorneyInvestigationsMilesEdgeworth [[InSpace ON A LUXURY LINER]].
* ''SayaNoUta'': Pretty disturbing, Lovecraftian shit. Gen Urobuchi is a sick bastard.
* ''VisualNovel/ShikkokuNoSharnoth'': An awesome steampunk anachronistic novel. The main character is a moefied AgathaChristie, and there are loads of SherlockHolmes characters involved. It's like {{Persona 3}} meets the steampunk genre.

** ''HigurashiNoNakuKoroNi'': I loved the way it explored the themes of friendship and forgiveness through murder and insanity. It also rather affected me deeply.
** ''UminekoNoNakuKoroNi'': '''EPIC''' mind screw GenreBusting mystery-fantasy hybrid. This made me take interest in the mystery genre. It's also a game that ''will'' make you think about the answers.

[[AC:Not Japan, Literature, or Vidya]]
* ''AvatarTheLastAirbender'': The second-last West-animated show I've ever watched. Its sequel series might change that. It deserves its TropeOverdosed status.
* ''DannyPhantom'': I loved this show. Some would say it's a poor-man's Spiderman, but it's really quite enjoyable to watch.
* ''FairlyOddParents'': Mostly the earlier stuff. And by earlier, I mean pre-Poof.
* ''PhineasAndFerb'': (This is the last one, btw) No longer updated on it, but it's really amusing and fun to watch.
* Pixar's films. Obligatory childhood love and attachment here.
* ''ScoobyDoo'' was my childhood. I absolutely loved that show when I was a kid.
* ''ScottPilgrim'': Hell yeah. The movie was the most crazy awesome thing I've watched in a long time.
* The SCPFoundation: A fascinating read. It's not that scary (although it ''can'' be creepy and disturbing), but it's fun to imagine stuff from this site.
* ''{{xkcd}}'': Also no longer a frequent visitor, but it's really amusing to get the GeniusBonus jokes.

* ChiwaSaito: For voicing [[{{Bakemonogatari}} Hitagi Senjougahara]] and [[PuellaMagiMadokaMagica Homura Akemi]]. Her voice isn't just wonderful; she really does do voice ''acting'' well.
* YuiHorie: Her vocal range is ''incredible''. She did [[{{Persona 4}} Chie Satonaka]], [[{{Toradora}} Minori Kushieda]] and [[MawaruPenguindrum Masako Natsume]], and single-handedly made Chie a more likable character through her voice - something that the ''Persona 4'' dub seriously lacked.
