Considering this is Alice, the 'joking' part might not be true, might she does have lifelong experience with weaponry, and should know that if the gun does go off in Krista's, then she's most certainly fired.

Alice often gets very violent after a firefight (and a particularly unfulfilling one at that), and will show this as beating up the first person she sees. So she turns to Dimitri and tries to beat him up -- and then it was made very clear that this was not cool, with disapproval from Krista and immense annoyance from Dimitri, who had to tie her up to stop her.

--> Melodee: "How come every person I do things like this with always answer like that? Or they just scream a lot. Or say nothing. Or start praying. How boring~! It would be awesome if someone answered with 'the moon's pretty cool too'! Or... or... maybe... something different. Anything different. I just wanna meet an interesting person for once!"

The most basic way to describe Melodee would be sadistic and psychotic, with several psychopathic tendencies, who presents herself as genuinely childishly cheerful. She has spent most of her days travelling around, trying to find someone who she finds interesting. Melodee does not see the world in terms of morality, and probably isn't even aware of concepts such as 'good' or 'evil', instead seeing people as 'interesting' or 'boring'. To her, killing a 'boring' person is perfectly acceptable behaviour, while even hurting an 'interesting' person is one of the most horrendous acts one can commit, and will try her best to protect them if the situation requires it. If she happens to come across a person she deems especially 'interesting', she signs an unwritten mental 'contract' with that person, bringing in her bizarre sense of loyalty, which can even be construed as a disturbing form of 'love'. She'll do whatever that person asks her to, she'll fight for them, protect them, almost whatever they ask she'll do without hesitation. When around a person she has signed a contract with, they generally tend to find her to be emotionally childish, with an insatiable amount of curiosity, often never stopping bombarding them with questions unless they say specifically tell her to stop.

At the age of five, Melodee was sold into a child fighting arena, where people would bet on who win in a blood fight. They were given weapons, and were forced to fight to the death. At first they were manipulated, and told that if they won, they could go back to their parents, or to just a 'better' place. At the time, she truly believed that she could go back to her mother if she did that, but wasn't given a choice either way. In the fights, Melodee won, and was surprisingly adept at it. Of course, they didn't let her go, always saying 'just one more fight', or 'that wasn't good enough', and even worse 'make it bloodier next time'. It came to a point where she couldn't even remember how she got there, and what she was even fighting for, with the guards not even needing to say 'just one more fight', as she had already accepted the fights as a regular occurrence, with it becoming something that she perceived to be normal, with it coming to the point of her enjoying it. Around the age of 13, having accumulated a large amount of melee weapon and unarmed combat experience over the years, and having become so incredibly unhinged that the people who got her ready for the fights sometimes feared for their life, the place where the fights took place and where she was kept was attacked by slavers. Her cage was bolted open, and she was dragged out, only they didn't expect a little girl to so easily fight back. She slaughtered everyone. Slavers. Her captors. Other children. Because it was just 'another fight', a daily occurrence that she had come to accept long ago. Suffering bullets wounds and other major injuries, she stumbled out of the arena. Bleeding profusely, in a tremendous amount of pain, and utterly confused, she encountered a wandering traveller.

She ended up travelling with the man due to her warped moral code. After three years of travelling together, the man was killed from a stray bullet. After that she just wandered around, not being sure what to do with herself.

* AffablyEvil: When around somebody that she actually likes, then Melodee will be genuinely polite and cheerful, and can actually be a rather pleasant person to be around. Her favorite hobbies include casually murdering people and horrific torture, just for the sake of it.
* AnAxeToGrind: Uses an old fire axe with half the handle sawn off. WeaponOfChoice. Her usage of melee weapons is actually a deconstruction, as in the face of a world with guns everywhere, her melee weapons are near useless, despite being proficient with them.
* AntiHero: When pointed at raiders, she's a vicious NominalHero and only thinly separated from outright villainy. Melodee's first and usually only way of going about anything is 'attack until it dies', although she can be lightly controlled by Karl to not outright attacking everyone. The only reason she is considered the 'hero' is that Karl is at least marginally more heroic than her, and thus points her to people who deserve it.
* AntiVillain: When a VillainProtagonist she's a Type II, with hints of this when an AntiHero. She's a pitiable person who is a direct result of her absolutely horrifying background, but she's also pure evil and an indiscriminately violent murderer.
* Asexual: Outright stated in her character sheet, and is due to hormonal imbalances. As far as in-story goes, she's only implied to be this, due to her extreme lack of sexual interest in anything, and obliviousness to her sub-textual moments with Maria.
* AttackAttackAttack: Her modus operandi, in any situation, ever.
* AxCrazy: Even uses an axe!
* Badass: Considering that her entire life has been battle after battle, oh yeah.
* BadassAdorable: Although completely insane, many people note that Mel can actually be pretty adorable under the right circumstances.
* BadassBoast: To the man paying them to deliver something:
--> Melodee: "Good sir, I dunno much 'bout politics or whatever 'tis ya' fancy people do, but ya' see, people who mess with us usually end up with their head on a pike and their torso mutilated in about... thirty-two diff'rent ways. I dunno what's so important 'bout this round thingamabob, but cha' see, we don't die easy, and if the other half ain't given upon delivery then I think I'll hunt ya' down personally and... experiment."
* BadassNormal: She does fairly well even against those who have been given powers.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Seems like it's played straight with 'contracts', but is actually subverted. It can be a reason for signing a 'contract', but it isn't necessary. She'd be completely fine with an abusive, psychopathic jerkass as long as there was some aspect of him/her that held her interest for longer than a minute, and this would be the same if they were an idealistic and generally nice person.
* BerserkButton:
** Very nearly set off by Nira, but she managed to calm herself down before she had an outburst. Nira, in an attempt for 'positive reinforcment', said her axe made her look good. The effect was the opposite of what she wanted, as her axe is not supposed to make her look good, it's supposed to make her terrifying in a battle.
** Being ordered to surrender to her opponents by Karl will result in her suppressing a bloodthirsty, psychotic fury.
* TheBerserker: As skilled with melee weapons as she is, she pretty much just improvises her attacks as she blindly charges forward.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Mel can be rather Cloudcuckoolander out there, and is the hammiest character in the roleplay. She's also a terrifying psychopath who knows how to kill you in many, many different ways.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: She usually counts as FauxAffablyEvil for people she doesn't like, but she delves into this trope when around a person she doesn't like... and can't kill due to being told by Karl not to. The 'polite while evil' turns into 'polite while being a Jerkass bitch to them'.
* BloodKnight: Deconstructed. The desire to fight and to kill has been thoroughly conditioned into her from birth, to the point where she just feels empty if she hasn't fought and killed someone over a relatively long period of time -- it's an outright addiction.
* BloodSport: She grew up in a child blood sport arena. The Wasteland is not a fun place.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Melodee doesn't see the world in any form of morality, in fact, she's only barely aware such concepts exist. Instead she classes people as either 'boring' or 'interesting', where killing a 'boring' person is absolutely acceptable behaviour, while merely hurting an interesting person is the most horrendous act one can perpetrate. How she dictates this is based solely on first-impressions. She liked Karl simply because of his hat.
* BoisterousBruiser: A highly capable fighter and the hammiest character in the role-play.
* BondOneLiner: Deconstructed. Melodee giving these after killing people is a sign that she's an unhinged psychopath, rather than it being just a cool one-liner.
* BreakTheCutie: Has already gone through this repeatedly when she was younger.
* CharacterDevelopment: Not necessarily positive changes. As she becomes increasingly self-aware through Patrick's journal, she becomes increasingly nihilistic and hedonistic as she really fails to see the point of living anymore if it's just going to be constant danger, her love of fighting severely subdued by the amount of gun users.
* ChildrenForcedToKill: In her backstory.
* ChronicVillainy: An important aspect of characters like Karl is that they try to slowly change Melodee for the better, and while there are moments wherein Mel acts as an AntiHero, there is no real way that she will be 'reformed' unless miraculously given years of mental treatment (an impossibility in this world). She's way too far ingrained in her bizarre morality and violent ways to even fathom anything else -- and thus, each time she's given the chance to change, no matter the attempts from Karl, she compulsively goes straight back to villainy.
* Cloudcuckoolander:
** When she isn't being completely AxeCrazy, she can come off as an incredibly dark example of this in her dialogue, like when she asks Clyde whether Talon Company put a bounty on their heads because they hit their puppy.
--> Clyde: "Hit their puppy- What? No! That is the stupidest shit... Although they'd probably go after someone for that."
** And then there's this:
--> Melodee: So, there was this guy that came up to me and asked if I like cats. And I was all, 'why yes good sir, I do like cats, there is nothing that I would rather do than pet a wittle fluffy kitty cat.' And boy, was he angry. Dunno why he was angry, but he gave me this, like, death stare and asked if I liked dogs too. I was all 'yeah, sure, dogs're pretty cool I guess' and that got 'im even madder. So I'm standing there thinking 'I don't have to take this abuse on my day off! I take enough from my wife and kids! I don't need to abide by you rules, I will fight the power, I will usurp the status quo!' so I stabbed the guy in the jugular and--"
* ColdBloodedTorture: Heavily implied to have happened to her on more than one occasion. It's outright shown that she's always been on the giving end of these.
* ConditionedToAcceptHorror: To the nth degree. Melodee can accept any horror.
* CoveredWithScars [=/=] ScarsAreForever: Under her clothing.
* CreepyChild: Was this when younger. Is still creepy.
* CreepyGood: When on the 'right' side, although even then, 'good' is stretching it.
* CuteAndPsycho: At first glance, Melodee is merely a particularly immature woman who acts like a sweet and cute 12 year old.
* CuteBruiser: Again, a dark example. Taken out from the new RP, as she is no longer a full-on BadAss.
* CuteIsEvil: Has all the mannerisms of an excitable school-girl, yet is the most depraved 'hero' in the story.
* CutenessEqualsForgiveness: If she wasn't adorable, Walker probably would have shot her in the face long ago. It's a superficial world. Although this is averted with Karl, who would be nice enough to not care much about that.
* DarkActionGirl: Along with being a highly capable fighter, she is also a terrifying psychopath.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Oh boy. She also doesn't think there's anything wrong with it, she'll cheerfully talk about her past (only to someone she likes) without even a single hint of sadness if asked about it.
* DeathSeeker: At first, before she becomes TheHedonist. But it's also played with, it's implied that even when becoming that, she still counts as this trope, and that she's merely trying to find some pleasure out of life, even if searching for that results in her death. However, in some ways, due to surviving things that most people would have been killed from, she actually thinks she is somehow incapable of truly being killed, so it's more ambiguous.
* Deconstruction: As there have been quite a few roleplays that Melodee has been used in, the author zigzags between Melodee playing many of her tropes straight, or brutally deconstructing them. This depends entirely on the mood the original OP is going for -- more realistic settings usually go for the deconstructive route. For example, in a deconstruction her BlueAndOrangeMorality leads to her being unable to relate with anyone, meaning that meaningful interactions or friendships are incredibly short and unfulfilling; her proficiency with melee weapons is essentially useless in a world full of guns; and her BloodKnight tendencies are an outright addiction, leading her to become much easily enraged and violent, even at those she likes; and so on.
* TheDeterminator: Deconstructed. A determinator isn't someone tough enough to endure anything, it's someone sociopathic enough to kill everyone and everything in their way before it can hurt them.
* DeusAngstMachina: Although the author likes to think it justified, as the universe really is just that shitty. Toned down in the new RP, with the implications of rape and torture pretty much being removed.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Many, many examples. It's the flaw that'll probably get her killed one day.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Mel can be rather... extreme when it comes to slights against her.
* DissonantLaughter: During battles, her constant giggling and laughter can be rather off-putting.
* DissonantSerenity: The police who raided the arena noted that she had such a calm smile in her cage... right before she bit the neck out of an officer and nearly killed him. They noted that she was still calm after hauling her off him.
* TheDitz: Considering her life, Mel hasn't exactly had the opportunity for an education. However, she does get smarter over the course of the story, albeit, more so in the form of self-awareness.
* EvilOrphan: Turned evil, but it's noted on her character sheet that she was put in an orphanage, and picked up her new 'mother' at the age of five. Too bad said mother was an horrendous sociopath who raised her for the sake of fighting.
* EnfantTerrible: When younger, who had quite possibly the biggest head-count in the arena by the age of ten.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Many roleplays start with this. She starts out by attacking a small band of merchants, and slaughtering them all in the most horrible fashion -- except for one. She then shows great concern for that one person, commenting about the thing that makes them interesting (usually a hat, or an eyepatch), apologizes for wounding them, leaves some bandages, and cheerfully leaves.
* EvilHasABadSenseOfHumor: Does it ever. Melodee's sense of humour is completely fucked.
* EvilIsPetty: Resoundingly petty, but also maintains her AffablyEvil status. She casually murders people for ludicrously small reasons.
* Expy: A mix between Yuno Gasai from MiraiNikki, and Hansel and Gretel from BlackLagoon, personality wise. Her appearance is pretty much almost exactly like Yuno, as the author used her picture on his character sheet, just the lack of pink hair and large increase of bodily scarring.
* FaceOfAnAngelMindOfADemon
* FatalFlaw: Her inability to properly think through the consequences of her actions has, on many occasions, nearly killed her.
* FauxAffablyEvil: Usually, she's actually rather pleasant. But God help you if she doesn't like you. She'll still act polite and cheerful, but will also be plotting hundreds of different ways for her to murder you, and her affability somehow becomes a lot more condescending and superficial.
* FearlessFool: As far as can be told, Mel just doesn't do the whole 'fear' thing.
* FragileSpeedster: Melodee relies mostly on her agility in battles, and due to her stature, can't take much of a beating.
* FreudianExcuse: Nothing can excuse her actions, but she has a pretty valid reason as to why she's as damaged as she is. Anyone would be fucked up in the head having survived what she was put through.
* ForTheEvulz: Subverted. Sure, while everything she does is because she pretty much just feels like it, she is completely unaware that what she's doing is considered 'evil'.
* GeniusDitz: While it's clear that she isn't very smart, Melodee actually has a rather comprehensive knowledge of the human body (although the implications is that she learnt this by torturing numerous people to see the best way to prolong death).
* GenkiGirl: A very dark example. If it weren't for her murderous impulses, she would be considered like an excitable schoolgirl.
* GigglingVillain [=/=] EvilLaugh [=/=] LaughingMad: Moves between all three of them, sometimes all the exact some scene.
* Girl With Psycho Weapons: Let's see. A fire axe. A sawn-off shotgun. A bowie knife. A switchblade. And a hammer. Walker lampshaded the fact she carries only weaponry, and absolutely nothing else. In the new RP, she just carries a fire axe with half its handle sawn off, and a combat knife. She sometimes carries a pistol.
* GrotesqueCute: Melodee is absolutely adorable... and the main contributor to the roleplays most horrifying violence.
* HairTriggerTemper: While usually very cheerful, Melodee can get absolutely furious incredibly fast. Be aware when she's calm about it.
* HarmfulToMinors: Does not even begin to describe her past.
* TheHedonist: As she becomes increasingly nihilistic about her life in general, she gradually fits this mold. She comes to realise that her life really has never meant anything, and after rather flippantly contemplating suicide, she figures to just go to something fun. From this point onwards she indulges in drugs, NightmareFetishist behaviour, and thrill seeking, all with sheer disregard for her own well-being.
--> Melodee: "Does it matter? We go somewhere, anywhere... and just make it up from there. Just have fun. Nothing else matters."
* HeroicComedicSociopath: Occasionally, her behavior is played for laughs -- mainly in her downright enthusiastic and highly bizarre responses to horrible violence, and is often in effect when she tries to tell a story. But at other times... not so much.
* HiddenBadass: You wouldn't quite see it at first though.
* HomoeroticSubtext: With Maria. Many of their interactions contain some degree of sexual imagery, which result in a lot of her interactions coming off as very touchy-feely, and Maria usually doesn't object. It doesn't hurt that Maria is canonically bi.
* HotBlooded: It's easy to see why she and Karl get along.
* InsaneEqualsViolent: However, the story does point out that Melodee is violent because of her upbringing, not simply because she's insane.
* Jerkass: On a bad day. Despite her usual affability, Melodee often behaves like a spoilt brat when she doesn't get what she wants.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: In a very dark way. In her rare moments of clarity, she actually realizes when she's being ungrateful or spoilt, and amazingly, actually apologizes. While she may be completely insane, Melodee actually does care about Karl and Maria, she just has incredibly strange and misguided ways of showing it.
* KarmaHoudini: Earlier versions of Melodee due to the roleplays dying out, but the author notes that this would not have happened if it continued.
* KickTheDog: Mostly in her backstory, where she is noted to have murdered quite a few innocent people (either for fun or just sheer pettiness), but gets several during the story.
** Torturing one of the people captured by the raiders, for no other reason than being in a bad mood. When Maria stops her, Melodee mistakes her for wanting to go down a MercyKill route and tries to shoot him in the head.
* LackOfEmpathy: Zigzagged, as Melodee can have selective empathy towards people she has signed a 'contract' with, but even then, it's a sick and twisted form of it. But normally, it's played straight, as she generally cannot feel a single thing with the people around her, only seems to somewhat understand that people apart from her feel pain, and has no problem with nudity.
* LargeHam [=/=] EvilIsHammy: Her default mode. If Melodee can do it in the most over-the-top manor imaginable, then she will.
* LeeroyJenkins: She is prone to fucking up due to lack of planning. Described perfectly here by Pyanyy:
--> The crazy bitch pounced on her! [...] Normal people didn't pounce on angry, knife-wielding strangers, they either talked them down or kept threatening them, they didn't jump on them with a look like a cat that had seen a ball of yarn!
* LittleMissBadass: When younger, but in an extraordinarily dark way.
* LookBehindYou: "OH MY GOD THERE'S A DEATHCLAW BEHIND YOU!" She's rather shocked when it actually works.
* MadeOfIron: The girl can take an absurd amount of damage without even realising it. When Walker took off her shirt to deal with a bullet wound, he saw that her body looked incredibly damaged, it was covered with scars and marks from old wounds, and she had almost her entire left side was covered in severe old burns. It all seems to have made her have an incredibly high tolerace for pain. This is later removed.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: Broke her arm? No big deal. Shot in stomach and leg? Eh, worse has happened. Later removed.
* MonsterSobStory: Good Lord.
* MoodSwinger: Melodee can go from cheerful, to depressed, to violently psychotic, in the span of minutes, or even seconds.
* MurderIsTheBestSolution: Always, in any situation, will Melodee advocate murder as the solution to the problem, even when it's clear that is not.
* NightmareFetishist: Although she doesn't quite know it's nightmare inducing to others.
* NightmareFuelStationAttendant: She ends doing quite a lot of things that she thinks is perfectly acceptable behaviour, but horrifies some of the other characters. Namely, hacking the limbs off a not-quite dead raider even though it would have been easier to just kill him outright. She doesn't understand why Clara is disgusted.
* NominalHero: The only reason she's on the 'right' side is because of Karl/Maria. There is extraordinarily little separating Mel from full-blown villainy, and she skirts the line of no return many times.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: See HomoeroticSubtext. She doesn't quite get the concept, and on multiple occasions gets right up close to people's faces, namely Maria.
* ObliviouslyEvil: Has no idea what she's doing is considered 'evil'.
* OffingTheAnnoyance: If she isn't fond of a person, then her usual reaction is to torture them horribly before ending them in a horrific manner.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Melodee usually looks at least several years younger than she actually is.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: 'Melodee Coda' was a nickname given by the guards of the arena, and has long since forgotten what her real name is, although she is unaware that it isn't her real name, and other characters do note how strange a name it is.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Whenever she drops her SlasherSmile and goes into TranquilFury, every around her knows something has gone horribly, horribly wrong.
* PetTheDog: Often has these moments with people that she actually likes, although they often just boil down to 'not wanting to horribly torture them'. When it comes down to people she likes, having any violent thought towards them literally makes her sick.
* PintsizedPowerhouse: Mostly when she was younger, but she still is a pretty small girl.
* PsychoForHire: Was one, for a short while, in an RP that died very early, and acted as one of the antagonists.
* PsychopathicWomanchild: Dangerous. Violent. Mentally unstable. Acts like an excitable ten year old.
* PsychoSidekick: Is this to Walker, and anyone she has signed a 'contract' with. Also see RecklessSidekick.
* PsychoSupporter: This is more or less the basic idea behind the 'contracts', she supports, follows, and becomes loyal to someone simply because her BlueAndOrangeMorality dictates that she must. How happy said person is about it depends on the person.
* PutTheLaughterInSlaughter: Melodee's sense of humour, to the say the least, is fucked. There is nothing that she finds funnier than gruesome murder.
* RapeAsBackstory: Implied after being captured by a group of raiders. Taken out of the new RP, as the author realised that having this alongside with everything else was probably a tad overkill. A tad.
* RecklessSidekick: Is this to Karl, although he isn't exactly rational himself.
* Sadist: Going in par with her BloodKnight tendencies -- Melodee will, when viable, go for the most painful way of killing someone just for the sake of deriving as much enjoyment from it as possible. She also despises not being in control of a situation, and is something of a BerserkButton for her, although she takes some leeway with those she has a 'contract' with.
* SanitySlippage: Not that she was very sane in the first place, but the story manages to make it worse. At the start, Mel is sadistic and violent, but at least mostly in the control of herself. However, because the world is just as violent as she is, her view that violence is the answer to any situation just becomes reinforced, thus cultivating in her being a lot more animalistic and uncontrollable.
* SarcasmBlind: Mostly towards Clyde in the new RP. His sarcastic quips usally go over her head, and often takes them literally. An example would be when he says "Smell the death and radiation," sarcastically, and Mel responds "Yeah! Death and radiation!" without a hint of irony.
* SawedOffShotgun: Carries one around, but is less than adept with it. Taken out from the new RP. She is now completely inept at all forms of guns.
* SlasherSmile: Her usual expression, and thus a subversion. What you really need to watch out for is when she drops the grin and goes into a creepy, expressionless monotone -- as that's when it's safe to assume that she's both about to burst into an uncontrollable blood rage, stop aiming at the bad guys, and start aiming at everyone.
* SociopathicHero: Only after having signed a 'contract' with a relatively 'good' character.
* SoftspokenSadist: It has been implied that she was a lot more subdued when she was younger, especially after escaping from the arena, but she was still the same sadistic psychotic she is at the time of the RP.
* StepfordSmiler: Type C, but is quite easily seen though. Although she does have some hints of Type A. Melodee often sports a big old grin on her face, often despite a situation being incredibly horrifying.
* StrawNihilist: In the more realistic and deconstructive roleplays that the author uses Melodee in, she often turns into this. Due to the world, her psychological need to satiate her sadism is often diminished by how she can't really do much with only melee weapons in a world filled with guns. This usually leads to her becoming incredibly depressed as the only thing in the world that she knows how to do is cut off -- leading her to doubt the meaning of her existence. This often goes in par with her becoming TheHedonist as well as an explanation for why she doesn't just kill herself.
* StupidEvil: Often, generally to highlight that she is, indeed, very stupid.
* SuicideByCop: In one more deconstructive roleplay, she attempts this with Nira, but it doesn't work.
* SympatheticMurderer: At times, but especially when she was younger. Most of the time, it's completely averted, as she often kills innocent people.
* TeensAreMonsters: Although it must be said that even the adults are not necessarily less monstrous.
* ThereAreNoTherapists: Often justified, but the Kibatsuna variation actually averts this. Melodee was in a mental hospital before the event of the story.
* TokenEvilTeammate: No-one in the RP is that much of a saint, the majority of them being somewhere along the AntiHero scale as this is the Fallout setting, but Melodee takes top points for sheer malevolence, pettiness, and insanity.
* TragicVillain: Isn't always the villain of the story, though, but has shades of this even when the hero. Melodee never really had any choice about what type of person she would be turned into -- her bloodthirst and sadism are a direct result of conditioning ever since she was a child, and literally does not understand that what she does is wrong.
* TranquilFury: Often a sign that something is very, very wrong, as she is usually very open about her anger.
* TraumaCongaLine: Of which resulted in a sadistic, and utterly insane result B.
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehaviour: Not uncommon in the Wasteland, but taken to high levels when she was younger.
* TykeBomb: A particularly disturbing example. Her entire existence was one made for fighting.
* Ubermensch: Interestingly, yes. While she spent the entirety of her life unaware of conventional morality, her time in the mental asylum meant that she got to learn a lot more about other people's view on the world. When normal morality was explained to her, she laughed at it and said it was stupid, and that her view had to be the correct one.
* TheUnfettered: Upon creating a 'contract'. There are no limitations or lines for Melodee.
* UngratefulBitch: In one of her angrier moods after perceiving a 'lost' battle, she essentially rudely ignores Maria and demands her cake back, despite her having just saved her and Karl's life. In fact, she only barely represses shooting her after Maria eats said cake. This is portrayed as her acting like a spoilt child.
* UnscrupulousHero: Rarely, but some versions of Mel have her as this. She's still the exact same person, but she's occasionally given a goal that is actually heroic, such as wanting to keep her group of friends alive from mercenaries. Her often new-found dedication to her friends often bumps her up from a NominalHero.
* VerbalTic: Melodee starts a lot of her sentences with "Welp..."
* VillainProtagonist: Although she mostly counts as a vicious AntiHero, but she counts as this when she's travelling on her own, or when she has a contract with another villainous character. The body count that Melodee can possibly rake up is massive, and often highlights that she isn't exactly that much better than raiders.
* ViolenceIsTheOnlyOption: Considering the world they live in, her viewpoint isn't always incorrect. Sometimes, killing their way out of a situation has worked perfectly. This, however, does nothing to improve her mental state, as it just reinforces that her outlook on the world is correct.
* WaifFu: Her main combat style, which makes use of her speed and agility, rather than brute-force.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Melodee may be a complete psychopath, it's clear that she was never really given much of a choice in becoming that.
* Yandere: Can be this to people she has signed a 'contract' with, but a non-romantic example.

!! Aeron Carpio

--> "Think I can’t sympathize with the plight of a minor character? Little characterization, minimal depth, no development. Merely cannon fodder for the much more important characters, an unwitting instigator whose sole purpose is to move the plot forward, and then promptly leave. How depressing that would be!"

* AffablyEvil: Upon the moments when he isn't acting like a blatant villain, Aeron can actually be a pleasant conversationalist to those he considers important.
* AwesomeMcCoolname: As explained at MeaningfulName. Naturally, he chose it for himself.
* AxCrazy: Invoked. He makes his behavior seem purposefully psychotic, when it's actually fake. He is actually surprisingly methodical and calculating.
* Badass: It would be unwise to underestimate him. He took down five well-armed professionals in about ten seconds simply because he surprised them.
* BadassInCharge: Subverted. He only pretends to be the leader of the raiders by being in the right place at the right time, and by making as big of an impression as possible.
* BeYourself: Deconstructed. He does what he does because it feels natural, and has literally never gained any satisfaction out of anything besides taking pleasure out of suffering.
* BigBad: And very much aware of it. Later subverted, in that he was never the leader in the first place.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Major characters = important people who need to be treated well. Minor characters = can be executed upon his will.
* BrokenAce: Intelligent, well-spoken, skilled, and a disturbing sociopath.
* CardCarryingVillain: Played with. He will wholly admit to being a person who exists solely for the fact of being the most abhorrent scumbag who kills for the thrill of the hunt. What makes it more ambiguous is how he is shown to actually not be proud of this fact, even to the point of self-loathing.
* CatchPhrase: "I'm sure you understand." Generally used when he says something that intentionally doesn't make sense, like when he asks the group to wipe their shoes on the door mat... before entering a building literally covered with bodies staked to it.
* TheChessmaster: Invoked, and subverted into an OpportunisticBastard.
* CompleteMonster: Invoked, he purposefully makes himself appear as this irredeemably monstrous figure that strikes fear into people by simple attribution of being bereft of any sympathetic qualities. He actually doesn't count.
* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: Takes this to such high levels that he might as well be close to a FourthWallObserver. It's also deconstructed, Aeron continuing to look at the world in the form of plot devices means he cruelly objectifies people as simple devices for his own amusement and benefit -- he kills people simply because he thinks they are unimportant to the narrative.
* DeadpanSnarker: The man has a rather well-developed deadpanned sense of humour -- at least in conversation. When he casually says how the group will be raped by his raiders, Marie sarcastically says back that she has several sexually transmitted diseases. What does he respond with?
--> Aeron: "So do they."
* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: It's revealed that Aeron was quite the ace in his time. Never failing at everything, but never really finding enjoyment or purpose either. After the bombs fell, and was forced to defend himself from people by killing them, he finds that 'what he enjoys' is watching people suffer. But even when pursuing this, he's still not happy specifically because it makes him happy.
* DisproportionateRetribution: See EvilIsPetty, as this is also invoked.
* DissonantSerenity: Invoked.
* EvilFeelsGood: Deconstructed. Evil not only feels good, it is the only thing that feels good. Aeron was very much aware that he was either doomed to an empty life where he felt nothing, or one where he gave into his desires and despised himself for it. Choosing the latter actually made him feel worse, even if it did feel good.
* EvilHasABadSenseOfHumor: Just like Melodee.
* EvilIsHammy: Invoked for the sake of being disturbing. He's actually a SoftSpokenSadist normally.
* EvilIsPetty: Invoked, again. He kills one of his own raiders because he dared ask why he wears a suit in such heat. He actually didn't care too much about being asked it, and merely used killing him as a way to make him look dangerously unhinged. He's actually too pragmatic to play this trope straight.
* FauxAffablyEvil: Invoked. He acts extraordinarily polite and well-mannered when dealing with people that he knows are going to horribly raped, tortured and then killed by his raiders, for the sheer sake of messing with them. He knows the psychological effect it has.
* ForTheEvulz: Initially zigzags this, but just plays this straight later on. He actually has a purpose in most of his seemingly pointless acts of evil, although many of his other actions seem to serve absolutely no purpose aside from 'keeping the raiders entertained'. He actually did what he did for the sake of wiping out the Warui, but over the course of the story he learns that he really just doesn't care, and instead does what he does for amusement.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Apparently, before the bombs dropped, he was just a regular business man who just happened to enjoy sharp-shooting.
* IHaveManyNames: He reveals to Jean that he goes by quite a few names, such as Clifton, Devin, Ivan, Roger or even Rudolph. His actual name is unknown.
* TheHeavy: Subverted. He's introduced as being a major figure manipulating the raiders and events of the story, but it's revealed that he isn't as important as he first seemed, and that he in fact mocks the idea that one person could have such an influence over such an unorganized group of people. What he does do is try to manipulate the other major figures into doing what he wants.
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: Believe it or not, he actually wanted to help destroy the Warui at first, whom he absolutely despises. He adopted manipulating the raiders as part of his plan to do this after gradually agreeing less and less with the other Survivors. Now, he's probably worse than the Warui.
* HiddenBadass: The reason most people underestimate him is because he doesn't really look particularly threatening, and can purposefully act like a fool.
* ImmuneToBullets: But eventually is shown not to be completely immune. It's just the bombs have given him very strong skin.
* Jerkass: To everyone he regards as being a minor character, Aeron will be a massive, condescending douche.
* JustJokingJustification [=/=] TensionCuttingLaughter: To a disturbing degree.
* LackOfEmpathy: An incredible lack of it.
* LawOfNarrativeCausality: Follows this in-universe, and apparently feels obligated to execute anyone who threatens to derail it.
* ManipulativeBastard: So much. He feigns being a SmugSnake so everybody underestimates him.
* ManOfWealthAndTaste: Invoked. As he tries to look as much of a villain as possible, he wears an expensive white suit when doing his act. He takes it off when he doesn't want to draw attention. A raider even asks why he was wearing a suit in the middle of a boiling hot desert.
* MeaningfulName: Aeron: Welsh unisex form of Celtic Agrona, the name a goddess of war and death who was portrayed as a masculine figure in Welsh mythology, meaning "carnage, slaughter."
* NeatFreak: Invoked, and subverted. He introduces himself to the group by saying for them to wipe his feet on the welcome mat before entering the building... and then the protagonists see that the inside of the building was no better than the corpse riddled exterior.
* NotSoDifferent: Upon looking at both Aeron and Melodee, it can be realized that they actually aren't so different. Aeron just happens to be a lot smarter, doesn't have Melodee's FreudianExcuse, and happen to be on different sides. They both have the compulsive need to murder people horribly for the simple sake of enjoyment, have a strange outlook on the world, and a fucked up sense of humour. He thoroughly enjoys pointing this out.
* ObfuscatingInsanity: Intentionally acts violently psychotic, when he's actually fairly level-headed.
* ObviouslyEvil: Again, invoked.
* OpportunisticBastard: He doesn't really have a plan, he just wants people to think he has a plan.
* PsychopathicManchild: Invoked in his purposeful AxCrazy behavior. Unlike the other invoked tropes, this is actually played straight.
* Sadist: Much like Melodee.
* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness: Invoked. He's a lot less wordy in normal conversation.
* SlowlySlippingIntoEvil: His backstory. It's implied that he was already sociopathic, but the apocalypse slowly brought out everything else.
* SmugSnake: Invoked. His smug mannerisms are purposefully put on so they underestimate the extent of his manipulations.
* TheSociopath: People are, at best, just plot devices to the man.
* SoftSpokenSadist: In normal conversation.
* Troll: Messes with people by remaining astoundingly polite while talking about what horrible fate is going to befall them. For example, he casually and friendlily tells Maria and Melodee that they're going to be raped by the raiders, and makes it out as if he's apologetic about it. He's just fucking with them. He's cares nothing for their lives.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Far, far on the 'extremist' side, but Aeron does do everything that he does for the sake of some form of warped 'greater good'. By trying to manipulate a force as powerful, widespread and chaotic as the raiders, he believes he'll be able to wipe out both the Warui and the Survivors. It's just that trying to control the raiders is impossible, and requires the deaths of many innocent people, due to their uninhibited impulses. Note that this does not make him sympathetic, and it's implied that he's pretty much lost sight of his goal long ago.
* WhiteShirtOfDeath: Invoked, he intentionally wears a white suit with blood splattered over it.
* WickedCultured: Invoked (sense the pattern?), and subverted. It's all a ruse. He claims to enjoy fine wine, art and classical music, but admits later on that he actually prefers light beer, never quite understood art, and never enjoyed classical music that much. He does it just to appear more stereotypically villainous. He even points out the implications that someone who enjoys 'high' culture must be evil.
* XanatosSpeedChess: He later admits that while he did have a goal, he didn't actually plan anything longterm, he merely decided what to do on the spot.

!! Richard

--> "Is this one truly alive?"

* Adorkable: His strange way of talking and lack of social skills contribute to this.
* AffablyEvil: Very much so. When he's not losing control of himself, he's one of the nicest people in the entire story.
* AntiVillain: Richard is one of the first indications of sympathy for the raiders -- the bombs have rendered him unable to form new memories past several hours, have made his past memories fade slowly away, and unable to control the murderess urges the bombs have given him. His anti-villainy is actually the reason Aeron keeps him around.
* AxCrazy: When he loses control.
* CloudCuckooLander: Deconstructed. His stranger tendencies, and complete lack of social graces, are all attributed to his increasing insanity, not as just some character quirk. While it still makes him strangely Adorkable endearing, it's still a big indication of his lack of empathy and that he's losing his grip on reality.
* EmptyShell: More so with every moment, as his mind continues to degrade.
* LackOfEmpathy: Apparently a trait shared by all raiders, and Richard is no exception.
* NoSocialSkills: Linked to being a CloudCuckooLander, but Richard really can't read the atmosphere, and lacks any knowledge on body language.
* SanitySlippage
* ThirdPersonPerson: Richard never uses 'I', rather, he uses 'this one'. Used to show that he barely even thinks of himself as a human being anymore.
* TragicVillain: Although lacking any FreudianExcuse, Richard isn't doing the things he does with any conscious awareness.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Second only to Melodee.

!! Jean

--> "Give someone a gun and they'll shoot someone just to see if they can."

* AntiVillain: While he is a member of the Warui, it was largely out of fear and a misguided belief that he would actually be able to do more good with them.
* AscendedExtra: In-universe, at least, according to Aeron, who was of the opinion that Jean was merely a minor character. By not killing him, Aeron 'saved' him from this and ascended him up to someone of more importance.
* Badass: Would have actually taken down Aeron if he weren't ImmuneToBullets.
* DoUntoOthersBeforeTheyDoUntoUs: His philosophy. He doesn't like working with the Warui -- he does, however, belief that the Survivors need to be destroyed before they destroy everyone else.
* JadeColoredGlasses: The apocalypse has beaten all the idealism out of him, and he knows very well what people do with power when given too much.
* JerkassHasAPoint: While mostly misguided in his beliefs, he is right about one thing -- not all of the Survivors are good people, and it would be naïve to assume that they wouldn't abuse their new-found powers. Doesn't justify trying to kill them all, but it does make it somewhat understandable.
* KnightTemplar: Not as bad as other Warui members, but he truly does believe that exterminating the Survivors is a completely justified act.
* NecessarilyEvil: He's aware that what he's doing is evil, but he feels like it's necessary. He's portrayed as deluding himself.
* ThePhilosopher: Occasionally, wherein he cynically talks about humanity's predisposed nature to violence and war.
* WellIntentionedExtremist

* AlwaysChaoticEvil: Deconstructed with the raiders.
* AntiVillain: Many, but not all, of the raiders are revealed to be this. The bombs have degraded their mind and rendered them unable to control themselves.
* CentralTheme: The effect other people can have on you.
* CrapsackWorld: In par with Fallout standards. Hell, if anything, earlier versions were even worse.
* GreyAndBlackMorality: In 'Captured', this is what it initially seems like, what with the 'heroes' only technically counting as such, while the raiders are murderess rapists who pillage and loot. This is subverted straight into GreyAndGreyMorality when it's clear that applying moral conventions to the raiders is absurd, as the bombs have rendered them incapable of controlling themselves. Even the Warui, who are mostly despicable racists, have members who actually have some understandable reasons for doing what they do -- their desire to exterminate the Survivors is out of fear that they'll abuse their powers, which quite a few actually do. Even Aeron is implied to have been a less cruel person before the bombs dropped, even having once had a vaguely altruistic goal.
* MenAreTheExpendableGender: Averted. Both men and women are killed in equal measure, and deaths from both gender are considered as equally tragic.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero:
** Karl's entire attempt at trying to help Melodee became a saner person may be one of the single most misguided (albeit well-intentioned) acts in the entire roleplay. He's actually making her worse by unknowingly reinforcing her violent tendencies, due to him probably enjoying battles just as much as her. This is the main cause of her ever slipping sanity.
** Their slaughter of the raider camp. While it most certainly seemed like the correct approach, their gung-ho nature meant that many of the people the raiders had captured were killed in the firefight. Although how many the group were personally responsible for killing, if any, is unknown.
* RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil: Averted. The raiders do rape many of the people they capture (and in doing so also averts every double standard of rape conceivable, as the raiders have both genders and are both portrayed as horrific), but it's not portrayed as being any more or less heinous than their numerous acts of torture and murder.
* SlidingScaleOfIdealismVsCynicism: Quite firmly grounded on the cynical side. Karl's attempts to help Melodee are incredibly misguided and actually do more damage than good -- because not only is he unknowingly reinforcing her behavior, she's too far gone for anyone to actually help. The world is horrifying and the people often worse, as while the raiders may be surprisingly pitiable people due to truly not knowing any better, they're also a widespread band of rapists and murderers, and the people who fight them often come off as trigger happy Knight Templars due to their zealous and violent approaches.

* ChaoticEvil:
** Melodee is a type 1 with hints of type 3. She values being able to do what she wants, when she wants. Whether this involves indiscriminate slaughter or just having a quiet evening with her friends depends on her mood. She doesn't really know she's evil, though, and most of it just due to her deeply ingrained nature.
** Aeron is a type 2. He relishes in the violence and chaos, and does most of the crap he does for his own amusement. He openly mocks the idea of living by any particular rules or code.
* CrazyAwesome: Melodee. People have noted that some of her attacks are downright suicidal and insane. It makes the point where they work that much more satisfying. Made less pronounced, if not outright removed, from the new RP.
* CrossesTheLineTwice: Melodee whenever she tries to tell a story. They're often audaciously violent or absurd.
* DarknessInducedAudienceApathy: It can be very difficult to care for either side considering how morally ambiguous everything is. Everyone is either completely insane, a jerk, or an idiot. Or any combination of the three.
* FamilyUnfriendlyAesop:
** Helping people is absolutely fine. Trying to change someone is impossible, and is an exercise of egotism and ignorance. People will never change their ways when they have been told their whole life that their way is true. Don't even try.
** Sometimes, violence really is the answer, and murder can be justified. Sometimes there are people who just have to die. It does not matter if said person has the biggest FreudianExcuse in existence, sometimes the only way to stop someone is to use more permanent methods. Saving the villain is stupid and naïve -- even if they're grateful, they won't change.
* FridgeHorror: See GeniusDitz. Also, how long was the child arena going for? Is it still going?!
* JerkassWoobie: Melodee, overlapping with WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds. She's a terrifyingly violent psychopath who kills, and has killed, many people, simply for amusement. That being said, she is also incredibly pitiable, as she is in many ways blindly innocent of the moral implications of her actions.
* LesYay: To the point of being outright HomoeroticSubtext. Due to having no sense of personal space, Melodee gets right up close to Maria's face so as to confirm that her hair was indeed hiding the fact that half her burn was burned off. Maria blushes, and thinks that she's actually going to kiss her.
* LoveToHate: Aeron, mainly due to his magnificent bastardry and dry wit.
* MagnificentBastard: Aeron subverts this. He's incredibly intelligent, charismatic, and ludicrously savvy of the genre he's in. He certainly wants people to think he's this, but inevitably, all of his manipulations are spur of the moment, and all lack long-term planning. Granted, he is very convincing about it, it's just that not everything goes his way, he's just highly skilled at adapting to the situation.
* MoralEventHorizon: While Melodee is a sympathetic psychopath, it is very clear that she has gleefully crossed over this time a long time ago. Her actions at the arena are understandable, as it was a very clear 'kill or be killed' zone, however, her time spent in outside world has made it very clear that Melodee is still a mass murderer who kills indiscriminately -- both innocent people and not so innocent people. She has killed hundreds of people simply because she didn't like them. This is averted in the Kibatsuna version, where she never has the chance to kill innocent people.

!![=DnD=] Session - Completed

The very first character that this troper has played in a [=DnD=] game. A ranger Halfling who was found captured by Orks.

* AmbiguouslyGay: While it's never outright stated, Belril is perhaps not reluctant enough when going to Mack from drinks, although it's never clear if he's doing it to repay him for helping him, or if he's actually interested. He also doesn't show much interest in the women in the sessions, although that could also be attributed to not thinking it a good time for sex or romance. In a fleeting comment, Wes even asks if he's gay, and Belril never really gives a direct answer.
* AntiHero: Belril even admits that nobody should consider him a hero, and most certainly doesn't want to be. He does become increasingly heroic as the story goes on, though.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: Oh boy. The author will contribute it to his lack of [=DnDing=] experience, but Belril turned out very different from what he first planned. He was actually going to be a disturbingly calm, albeit affable, ChaoticEvil character.
* DeadpanSnarker: Considering his team members, this comes naturally.
* EpicFail: Him burning down the inn. There's also many other examples due to critical failures on rolls, but that's the same for everyone.
* FlatWhat: To the many things that Mack does.
* Halfling: Although he averts many expectations of the race.
* HeroicBSOD: After accidentally burning down the inn. He only recovers from it when he hears that no-one was seriously hurt.
* HeroicNeutral: Played with. Normally, he won't lift a finger to help unless he's directly involved, but will when the person in trouble is someone he feels he is indebted to. This is why he saves Eldrina from the slavers, as she had saved him from a cave of goblins a day earlier.
--> Belril: "Now we're even."
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Belril can be a bit a snarky douche at times, but he doesn't mean any real harm, and goes back to help his group a few times.
* KickTheSonOfABitch: Him shooting Wes. He really deserved it.
* LackOfEmpathy: He begins to suspect that he's developing this after internally recognizing that he felt nothing for all the people who had lost their lives to the blackness. He becomes very desensitized to all the death surrounding him, and this scares him quite a lot.
* TheNapoleon: While he isn't always angry, he can be quite short-tempered. He's also a Halfling.
* NeverLiveItDown: InUniverse. He will never live down accidentally burning down the inn, and Was constantly mocks him for it. It's actually given him the reputation of being a pyromaniac.
* OnlySaneMan: Although it's really telling when the sanest member of a group accidentally burned down the inn they were staying in.
* SecretTestOfCharacter: In a magic induced dream, the three were all given a test of their character, to see if they would be considered worthy enough to continue. After easily passing a test relating to his claustrophobia (due to incredibly lucky rolls, otherwise he would have completely freaked out), he was then asked to kill himself, to test his 'courage', and that he would be sent back if he did that. He refused, saying that he's never blindly followed a person's orders in his entire life, and wasn't about to start. This proved correct.
* TrueNeutral: While he believes in paying back his debts, Belril is more or less completely apathetic to the conflict of Good versus Evil and Order versus Chaos, and prefers to just stay out of its way. He prefers to hold onto a philosophy of non intervention, and will only break it if he feels indebted to someone. The only real reason he wants to save the world from the taint is because he wants his forests to be unaffected by it. He does become less and less non-interventionist as the story goes on, but even then, he still counts as this.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Wes, of all people, after he goes through his CharacterDevelopment.
* WalkingTheEarth: What he was doing before he met up with the group -- and is, in fact, still doing that.

* AntiHero: All of them. Belril does show signs of a moral system, but it's based more around paying back debts rather than actual concern, and would rather not get involved in anything. Wes is an unstable sociopath who enjoys bloodlust, and to the surprise of no-one, eventually turns against the group. Mack is an obnoxious, flamboyant asshole who only helps the group when Belril reluctantly agrees to get a drink with him later. Even Eldrina, the most moral in the group, shows a callous disregard when it comes to Wes' antics.
* ChaoticEvil: Wes, for obvious reasons. Although after his development, he could easily pass off as ChaoticNeutral.
* ChaoticGood: Eldrina, although she often implies to be darker than that.
* EpicFail: Many, but notable ones are: Eldrina critically missing her attack, and accidentally swung her sword at Belril. Wouldn't be so bad if Belril didn't critical miss his dodge, and accidentally dodged into the sword, and impaled him. Belril shooting an arrow, having it deflect off a rock and into his side. Wes trying to bash down a door, only for his mace to deflect off it and into his shin.
* HiddenDepths: Wes often surprises everyone with his philosophical side, wherein he talks about remaining strong-willed even in the worst of situations, and that you don't need to be physically fit or combat-proficient to be a strong person. He also has a soft spot for children, is apparently capable of holding a normal job (where he notes he was a lumberjack for quite a while), and gradually grows on the team.
* Jerkass: Wes is massive douche to absolutely everyone at all times, although he's shown to have a soft spot for children. He actually does get better over the course of the story, showing a HiddenHeartOfGold, but he still remains a SocialDarwinist.
* LawfulNeutral: Mack, of all people. It's never really explained how he counts as this.
* PutOnABus: Due to a disagreement with the players, Mack's author left the sessions, meaning that Mack ran off, never to be seen again.
* RichesToRags: Eldrina's backstory, where she turned into a wealthy noblewoman to an impoverished thief.
* SanitySlippage: Not that he was very sane in the first place, but the Morningstar mace, infused with demons or something, pushes Wes to lose it even more. The constant blood loss doesn't help. He gets better after he stops being possessed, though.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Wes, the psychopathic douchebag who enjoys battles far, far too much. The only reason the team keeps him around is because he's very good at what he does, although after a while they grow on each other.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Eldrina. Although it's really telling when the most moral character is still a thief.
* TrueCompanions: They all develop into this.
* WorldOfSnark: Everybody gets in some snark at some point. Even [=NPCs=] are not exempt.

* AntiClimaxBoss: The dragon at the end. Considering that it was a dragon that had been ravaging the lands and supposedly required the help of an elven army to take down, was... ludicrously easy. Belril took no damage, and Eldrina took minimal damage. Wes was almost taken down, but even down, only by lucky last-minute damage. This had been a complaint throughout the sessions, the rule-set used meant that the player characters were perhaps a bit too powerful. Naturally, this is lampshaded by the characters, and Belril sarcastically says that they must secretly be death gods.
* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: After being harassed and threatened by Wes several times in the past several minutes, Belril decides "screw it" and shoots him, getting a critical hit. The suddenness of it all even surprises the other authors.
* CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming: When Wes admits that he actually enjoys the company of Belril and Eldrina, and that he considers them friends. Belril initially thought he was messing with them, and asked him later at the tavern whether or not he was serious. He was completely serious, and Belril reacted with relief, because he felt the exact same way. This is a far-cry from their initial suspicious and hatred of each other.
* JerkassWoobie: Wes, who takes points for being the biggest asshole in the session, becomes this upon considering his SanitySlippage and "get out of my head" reaction to the Morningstar. He's also noted to have been a slave for a large portion of his life, and is implied to have been through quite a lot of hardship.

!! Life in a Library

* Adorkable: When not in rage mode he's a friendly and insecure guy. Too bad it doesn't happen too often.
* Asexual: While Shawn would love to be in a romantic relationship, he's never quite understood sexual attraction, and will claim that he's never experienced it. In his teenage years this just served to alienate him even further from his male peers, and finds it incredibly uncomfortable constantly being surrounded by something that he has no interest in.
* TheEeyore: For all his immaturity and anger, Shawn is actually a very sad person filled to the brim with self-loathing.
* FatalFlaw: His severe anger issues, which he acknowledges.
* FreudianExcuse: Inverted. His home life and upbringing were positively idyllic. There was no abuse or trauma, his parents were caring, he grew up in a wealthy household, a school where bullying was rare... Yet it just makes his problems more troubling for him because it's convinced him that he only has himself to blame.
* FriendlessBackground: His social circle during his adolescence was zero -- it's the biggest cause of his NoSocialSkills.
* HairTriggerTemper: Very much so. Shawn has some serious anger issues, but he doesn't actually know why. However, he's never actually physically violent.
* HeyYou: Shawn has a tendency to rather rudely refer to people he hasn't properly met yet.
* HiddenDepths: For an angry, immature and rude (albeit unintended) jerk, he sure seems to enjoy very low key hobbies, and is surprisingly knowledgeable. He enjoys reading (satire novels, of all things), watching documentaries, and is looking into travelling at some point (he would rather go with a friend). He also doesn't like drinking much, has taught himself to be-near fluent in Italian, and has researched quite a bit about other cultures and their history.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Deconstructed. All of his rage and rudeness are completely unintentional, he barely even understands that he's acting in such a way, and he's actually just a lonely barrel of self-loathing who really wants friends. The problem is, heart of gold or not, he always gives a poor first impression, meaning that no-one actually cares enough to learn what he's truly like.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: His biggest motivation. He wants to control his anger and actually have a real conversation with another human being.
* ManChild: Despite being 26 years old with experience in the workforce, along with having a strange enjoyment of satire novels, Shawn is probably the most immature and childish person in the entire roleplay. He isn't stupid, but his lack of social skills and isolation as a child means that he didn't develop much past the maturity of a 15 year old.
* AManIsNotAVirgin: Defied. Linked to his asexuality, Shawn doesn't actually want to have sex. It doesn't interest him in the least.
* NoSocialSkills: A lot of his general rudeness isn't because he's a jerk, but because he's never talked to people enough to learn basic social etiquette

* AntiHero: When pointed at raiders, she's a vicious NominalHero. See SociopathicHero and VillainProtagonist. Melodee's first and usually only way of going about anything is 'attack until it dies', although she can be lightly controlled by Karl to not outright attacking everyone. The only reason she is considered the 'hero' is that Karl actually is a hero who is pointing her to people who deserve it.
* AntiVillain: When a VillainProtagonist she's a Type II, with hints of this when an AntiHero. She's a pitiable person, but she's also pure evil.

* BerserkButton: Very nearly set off by Nira, but she managed to calm herself down before she had an outburst. Nira, in an attempt for 'positive reinforcment', said her axe made her look good. The effect was the opposite of what she wanted, as her axe is not supposed to make her look good, it's supposed to make her terrifying in a battle. Nira actually gets close to setting it off with disturbing regularity.
** Another one: being ordered to surrender to her opponents by Karl will result in her suppressing a bloodthirsty, psychotic fury. It always breaks, eventually. It isn't wise to be around her then.

He refused, saying that he's never blindly followed a person's orders in his entire life, and wasn't about to start. This proved correct.
