This is merely so I can keep track of character tropes in role-plays I participate in. It's just for fun really, and for memory, as stories can kind of drag across a large time period, so forgetting details can be easy.

Roleplays not currently being done will be deleted from here, and retrieved from the edit history upon it starting up again -- although currently I am in none.

The boss and leader of a small group of, as she describes it, "all-purpose handymen" (read: mercenaries), Nora is a 30 year old Russian ex-Hotel Moscow soldier and bodyguard trying to establish a business in the wake of Hotel Moscow's 'purge' of the Triads. Ever professional and polite, the story follows Nora and her two new employees (Del and 'Ironheart') in their dealings with Roanapur's gangs and various factions.

* BadassGay: She is revealed to have been in love with [[LadyOfWar Balalaika since Nora was 18]], and heavily implied to be attracted to Del. She is also a mercenary group leader and has extensive experience as a soldier.
* BadassInANiceSuit: Nora seems to only exclusively wear men's suits. One reason for this seems to be for concealing a Kevlar vest.

* BlondesAreEvil: A blond haired borderline-sociopath.
* ConsummateProfessional: Her single most defining trait, and also revealed to be her largest flaw. Nora is outright stated to be a workaholic, and her constant sense of professionalism never ceases, ever when it probably should. It's revealed that Nora finds free-time, or moments where she is not required to actually do much (such as bodyguarding), to make her very uneasy. So, she started up a business which would require a packed schedule and only rare moments of respite. Her lack of ability to properly relax is not portrayed as particularly healthy.
* CunningLinguist: Along with her native Russian, she is fluent in both English and Italian. She notes that she was forced to learn some basic Cantonese in her dealings with The Triads, but that it mostly faded away due to lack of reinforcement.
* DeadpanSnarker: Far less than her two employees, but when sufficiently annoyed Nora can show that she can have a particularly deadpanned and almost cruel sense of humour.
* FauxAffablyEvil: Nora is fairly polite for the leader of a small mercenary/pirate group... until her patience wears thin and she shows that it's all skin deep. At most she is courteous at a professional level and to those who make her job as smooth as possible. Otherwise, Nora is casually threatening, if not cruel, and has a propensity for murder and violence as a sole problem solver. At most, she does seem to treat her employees with a modicum of respect
* HiddenDepths: Three things about her are revealed by Akim before she promptly shuts him up: that she is a virgin, has been in love with Balalaika since she was 18... and that she collects Yu-gi-oh cards. Later Nora indeed confirms that the bit about Balalaika is true, but says nothing about the other two.
* {{Jerkass}}: Nora doesn't exactly have the greatest sense of humour. It's made clear that while never overt about it, Nora is not the nicest person, although this is often lightened up by her fairly decent treatment of her two employees.
* KickTheDog: Her killing of Genevieve. While she did not do it for the sake of being pointlessly cruel, it was the one moment that showed she was willing to resort to murder just to make sure her reputation is not in any way sullied, even with not particularly powerful factions. Del even comments how cold it was, although makes no moral judgements about it (due to her own line of work).
* LawfulEvil: Nora likes schedules, Nora likes rules, Nora likes plans and well-regimented strategies for the running of a ruthless mercenary group.
* ManipulativeBitch: Her modus operandi -- which she considers a necessity considering the hive that is Roanapur and it's current power struggle.
* MurderIsTheBestSolution: A non-comedic example. Nora recites to the group a time when she was sent as a bodyguard for a Hotel general in Malaysia, an operation which should have lasted a month, but somehow lasted an entire year. She notes that every single meeting they attended was filled with arguments and yelling, as if every single day it was on the very edge of a shootout, with Nora expecting to have to kill everyone at any second. A year passed and the job ended with no loss of life or even any injures. According to Nora, she should have just killed them all the very second the yelling began, that way an entire year would not have been wasted. She cites this as the main reason she started her group -- if she was in charge, then murder ''can'' be the best solution.
* NoSocialSkills: Interestingly, considering her professionalism and politeness, it's shown that Nora is absolutely hopeless in social interactions outside of business or military settings. Even in those moments, she often is unsure of how to deal with people that don't maintain her level of professionalism.
* OnlySaneWoman: Subverted. She often views herself as this, due to her professionalism in the face of many people who ''aren't''. In actuality, Nora would probably benefit greatly from loosening up for the sake of keeping good relations with her contacts. One of the things that also contrasts Nora from other characters is often her lack of reaction towards the Hotel's purging of the Triads -- an event which many consider to have crossed several lines. At most, she admits it was 'unusual', but otherwise doesn't say anything else and seems to not be particularly happy when someone questions the sanity behind the act.
* PunchClockVillain: While the punch-clock in question seems to run from 5AM to midnight, she still only considers her work a job, and keeps any personal feelings out of it.
* SirSwearsALot: A notable aversion considering this Black Lagoon, a series with an impressively large amount of profanity. When she does swear, it's only when she's annoyed enough and always relatively tame in comparison to everyone else,
* StatuesqueStunner: Nora is noted to be exceptionally tall for a woman, standing at at least a couple inches over six feet.
* VillainProtagonist: An unrepentant long-time criminal and a clear supporter of Hotel Moscow despite being [[TookALevelInJerkass even worse here than in the source material]], and also one out of three protagonists in the story. It is Black Lagoon, after all. EvilVersusEvil is still in full effect, and in a way so it's even worse than the source material because it doesn't have the benefit of someone as moral as Rock.
* WineIsClassy: Averted. The only alcoholic drink that Nora can stand is wine (she drinks a scotch to keep up appearances when forced to attend Bao's bar, but it's clear liquor disgusts her), but Nora is not particularly classy or sophisticated, business politeness aside.

* AffablyEvil: In a very different vein from Nora, in that Akim is a very jovial and laid-back man with a sense of humour. It is very easy to forget who he works for, [[AmbiguouslyEvil although his 'evil' actions are never really shown]]. An example of his affability is his introduction when he tries to convince Nora into rejoining Hotel Moscow by saying they'll get a big chocolate cake with 'Welcome back, Nora!' written on it. It'll even have a stripper burst out of it!
* {{all lowercase letters}}: When texting to Nora he types in fragmented sentences and lower case letters. It makes Nora pause when he stops doing it.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: While he works for a group that are widely considered pretty horrible, his own 'evil' actions are never shown, or even really referenced to. In fact, his main goal seems to be to kill Balalaika due to her 'purge' of the Triads, which might indicate that he's one of the few ''decent'' people in Roanapur. All in all, his motives are not very clear.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Akim has no illusions about who he has worked for most of his life, and has had several implications of being much darker than he lets on, namely, his suggestion that he doesn't care if Nora kidnaps Balalaika and keeps her as a sex slave in a dungeon, just as long as she's gone. However, Akim's goal of ridding Roanapur of Balalaika actually does seem to be out of pure disgust of the woman's actions, rather than personal gain, something which can't be said for many people in the city. Her also seems genuinely fond of Nora and her well being, even if he does like [[{{Troll}} annoying her at every opportunity]].
* LovableTraitor: Akim is, overall, a pretty decent guy to have a few drinks and some laughs with. His main goal also seems to be to kill Balalaika, even though he's been with Hotel Moscow for most of his life.
* PetTheDog: He has a pet husky called Tara, and is very vocal in how adorable he finds her.
* StepfordSmiler: Akim smiles quite a lot, even when the narration makes it clear it is forced and fake.
* TattooedCrook: Nora notes that the amount of tattoos he has is ridiculous to the point where she has genuine difficulty seeing any bare skin. He even has a lightning tattoo on one of his eyes.
* {{Troll}}: A hobby of his seems to be messing with Nora. For example, because she won't pick up her phone, he interrupts her while she's on a delivery by calling, Gen, the person she was dealing with, and has Gen list off all of Nora's (thankfully non-incriminating) secrets to everyone unless she picks up her own phone.

* AffablyEvil: Much like the source material, many characters have cheerful and upbeat personalities to contrast the awful things they do for a living. Notable examples are:
** The two Australians they deal with in their first deal, Genevieve and Nick. They're both incredibly friendly, Gen is humorous and laid back, while Nick polite and mild-mannered. They're also both buying several crates of firearms for a gang.
* EvilVersusEvil: A ruthless all-purpose mercenary company against whoever screws them over. So, other criminals.
* MoralEventHorizon: Balalaika's ruthless purge of the Triads and numerous other factions is seen by many people as this.

While that might merely be as a result of her near constant professionalism, she still treats the people who work for her well and never raises her voice or gets angry expect for the occasional irritation (which she rarely voices anyway). That being said, she's also heavily manipulative and ambitious, has zero compulsions against violence and murder as a primary problem solver (even when there may be other options), and is not particularly picky about what jobs she takes.
* BadassGay: She is revealed to have been in love with [[LadyOfWar Balalaika since Nora was 18]] (if Akim is to be trusted), and heavily implied to be attracted to Del. She is also a mercenary group leader and has extensive experience as a soldier.

* BlondesAreEvil: But damned polite, at least.

* HiddenDepths: Three things about her are revealed by Akim before she promptly shuts him up: that she is a virgin, has been in love with Balalaika since she was 18... and that she collects Yu-gi-oh cards. Granted, Nora does not claim this herself, but she never denies them.

* AmbiguouslyEvil: He's a demon staying neutral in a war that may possibly lead to Judgement Day. His crimes so far are possessing a man so he can walk around and by dine and dashing after said man didn't bring enough man to fork the bill. And if he is evil, [[AffablyEvil then he's very polite, soft-spoken and relaxed about it.]]
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: After not paying for George's meal, he gives this little thought:
--> ''Ignavas. Sloth Demon. Underworld monstrosity of lassitude and lethargy. Corrupter and devourer of pure souls. Dine’n’dasher. His superiors must be so proud.''
* AsleepForDays: A month before the events of the roleplay he supposedly ''slept for 15 years''. This is apparently not common for him to have slept for that long, rather indicating his increasing lack of control of his sanity, but it's implied that he has taken quite a few lengthy sleeps in the past.
* BlatantLies: ''"Everything is fine."'' Said after a nearly botched contract ritual that could have easily destroyed Ig's mind and deeply effected Shae's.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: He may be vaguely aware of human morality, but he most certainly does not understand the concept on any personal level. Ignavas just does things based on his contract with Shae and his own extreme laziness. For example, Ig has to ask Shae whether or not it was humans or angels that take ethical issue with stealing -- because he couldn't remember.
* BrilliantButLazy: Ignavas can be incredibly efficient, ruthless and focused when he feels like it's necessary. Which is rare. Otherwise, Ignavas operates on a near permanent autopilot solely focused on getting everything over and done with. He's trying to move out of this.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Implied. He does believe he used to be human -- and most humans turned demon often experience prolonged and often ironic torture in hell before changing. However, he also doesn't remember fully.
* DeadpanSnarker: Downplayed. It's extraordinarily subtle, but there is occasionally a certain humorous edge underneath his incredibly polite mannerisms.
* EmptyShell: Not yet, but becoming this is one of his greatest fears. He is terrified that his lack of sense of self and constant exhaustion will lead to his mind just fading away into nothing.
* FantasticRacism: Fairly mild compared to some other demons (probably due to his natural apathy), but it's obvious that he has a natural dislike and distrust of most angels, viewing the vast majority of them as zealots who would rather purge him before he actually does anything wrong. Unlike most demons, he seems relatively fine with the Fallen.
* FatalFlaw: His inability to properly associate a situation as being important enough to expend energy. Nothing really seems to register properly to him that something might actually require him to put effort or thought into his work, and this has, on occasion, nearly been the death of him.
* LackOfEmpathy: Although not exactly a sociopath, if he were to save a life or kill one, he would feel the exact same level of pleasure and care.
* MindScrew: Ignavas' true form is described as a walking contradiction that makes the best of humans go mad were they to stare for too long.

* NiceToTheWaiter: Chides the man he possess for not bringing enough money to pay for the restaurant bill, citing it as being rude to both the man's date (who never showed up) and the servers that have to deal with his bullshit.
* NominalHero: He has a contract with Shae, a more neutral character but still technically the good guy, meaning that he goes along with her more morally sound goal of keeping the [[BalanceBetweenGoodAndEvil 'balance']]. He couldn't care less about the balance, and is motivated by retaining whatever sanity he has left.
* PetTheDog: His treatment of George, the man he first possesses. He apologizes for doing it, and makes sure that he doesn't get hurt. He also ensures that he doesn't just flop to the ground when leaving his body, making sure he was sitting in a chair first. Shae cites it as one of the few thoughtful things she has ever seen a demon do, although Ig will note later on that there was no true empathy behind it -- to him, courtesy is just going through the motions.
* ReluctantPsycho: At the start of the story, Ignavas has become at least partially aware of his own mental instability. This scared him -- and feels that if nothing changes then he will simply vanish from the world.
* SanitySlippage: His repeated lack of interest or thought into anything he does has lead to his impressively long life all blending together in his memories, due to him not caring enough to focus. This has led to a rather tenuous grip on both reality and the concept of time.
* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness: Downplayed. Ignavas' speech patterns are somewhat antiquated and ''very'' polite, but it never goes overboard. This was mostly when he has introducing his contract proposal to Shae, and seems to have stopped entirely.
* SevenDeadlySins: Ignanvas is a Sloth Demon. He spreads lethargy and confusion with his mere presence, although he can minimize it's effects.
* TheStoic: Due to his deadened emotions, Ig rarely reacts to anything with much expression. Any showcase of emotion are generally described as being so minute that you would have to really focus to see it.
* VagueAge: Not even Ignavas knows just how old he is. He knows he's at least older than 150, but ''how'' older is a mystery to him and everyone else.

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: A lot of this in-universe, considering the ambiguity surrounding her single appearance. She's either a) a complete {{troll}} messing with Ig from beyond the veil because why not, b) [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold actually well meaning]], as her insults and ReasonYouSuckSpeech spur him into fixing the botched contract ritual between him and Shae, or c) not real at all and just a figment of Ig's deluded mind. Ig has no idea.
* DeadpanSnarker: Everything she says is coated completely in derivative and snide sarcasm.
* FauxAffablyEvil: Claims herself to be Ig's best friend and coats her utter hatred and malice with a jovial attitude and a big smile.
* {{Jerkass}}: Casually demeaning and malicious, for Ig's supposed 'best friend' she treats him like garbage.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: [[AlternateCharacterInterpretation Maybe.]] There's a few implications that she's getting him pissed off on purpose for the sake of spurring him into actually expending some energy -- an act which possibly saved his life.
* NoNameGiven: She calls herself Ig's 'best friend', but Ig himself cannot actually remember her name. 'Best Friend' just stuck.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Gives a massive one to Ig, stating him to be a worthless sack of crap that hasn't achieved a single thing in his life and wasting all the latent potential for greatness he has.
* SevenDeadlySins: Not explicitly stated what type of demon she is, but from her aggression and malice towards Ignavas, Wrath is probably the best bet. The fact that ''[[TheStoic Ignavas]]'' got angry when around her adds to that theory, as demons often intentionally spread whatever vice they have.
* SirSwearsALot: Her single appearance has her shooting off expletives at rapid fire.
* SophisticatedAsHell: She seems very fond of mixing a well-developed vocabulary with many expletives.

* WithFriendsLikeThese: She is the ''only'' one calling Ig his best friend -- and it's done in a mocking and derogative manner. In fact, Ig can barely even remember her, he just notes how her voice was vaguely familiar.

[[folder:General and YMMV tropes]]

* GreyAndGreyMorality: Despite the 'Angels versus Demons' concept, things aren't that black and white. Being a demon doesn't guarantee they are evil, nor does being an angel mean they are good. Ignavas isn't so much evil as he is [[ReluctantPsycho scared for his own sanity]], and others demons are often compelled by [[BlueAndOrangeMorality bizarre systems of morality rather than malice]]. Whilst often well-intentioned, some of the angels can border straight into KnightTemplar territory with a [[BlackAndWhiteInsanity distinctly black and white view on the world]]. The fallen angels can go ''any'' way, but are more often concerned for their own well-being rather than of others.
* JerkassWoobie: While many of Ignavas' memories have blurred together to the point where he can barely comprehend any of it, it is often implied that it may be better if he ''doesn't'' remember it. That, along with the frequent descriptions of his constant fatigue and terror concerning his increasing depersonalization lend quite a bit of sympathy to a soulless demon.
* SympatheticPOV: The perspectives switch constantly between all the characters, and who is the protagonist and antagonist switches with it, neither side ever truly understanding just what the hell the other one wants. * AffablyEvil: Astonishingly well-mannered and polite for an unhinged pyromaniac, and while she would probably sell the two of them out in a heart-beat if she thought she could get a better deal, she still treats her two companions with nothing but respect.
* TheComicallySerious: Most of her humour comes from the fact that takes ''everything'' seriously. Even her companion's sarcastic remarks.
* IdiotBall: Due to a miscommunication between the dungeon master and Ira's author, Ira attacking the merchant group is this. The DM didn't really specify how large the group was, and the author had originally intended for Ira to rob a small merchant group, showcasing her casual ruthlessness to her two companions just for the sake of getting some coin -- which then the DM decided to say that it was protected by a fuck-tonne of mercenaries.
* KickTheDog: Her burning down of the forest. She merely used Robin's stupidity as an excuse to start a massive fire (he claimed a "bush looked suspicious"). There's no way she didn't know what she was doing.
* KillItWithFire: Her go to primary combat style is 'light it on fire'. She's sometimes willing to do something else, but she'd ''rather'' not.
* LackOfEmpathy: Implied. She often has issue understanding the emotional states of other people.
* NeutralEvil: Canonical D&D alignment. Self-serving, casually ruthless,, amoral, pragmatic, and has great ambitions for power and to climb social ladders. Ira just doesn't give a damn about the whole 'good and evil'/'order and chaos' thing, she'll do whatever she needs to do to get what she wants.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Ira was originally hired as a bodyguard for Davos and Aslin, understanding that they're from noble families, ensuring her work would gain her both gold and recognition from both families, allowing her to climb certain social ladders. After everything goes to crap, she still sticks around because she expects in the end of it all, she will ''still'' get these things.

* PyroManiac: It helps that she's an Arcane Pyrotechnician (and in a later D&D, just a regular fire mage). Ravae is enraptured when there's some kind of fire -- and to her, the bigger the better.

* TheStoic: At most she showcases mild irritation. It's difficult to get much of an emotional reaction out of her.

* FatalFlaw: His inability for his mind to proper associate a situation as being imperative. Nothing really seems to register properly to him that something might actually require him to put effort or thought into his work, and this has, on occasion, nearly been the death of him.

* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness: Downplayed. Ignavas' speech patterns are somewhat antiquated and ''very'' polite, but it never goes overboard.

* GreyAndGreyMorality: Despite the 'Angels versus Demons' concept, things aren't that black and white. Being a demon doesn't guarantee they are evil, nor does being an angel mean they are good. Ignavas isn't so much evil as he is [[ReluctantPsycho scared for his own sanity]], and others demons are often compelled by [[BlueAndOrangeMorality bizarre systems of morality rather than malice]]. Whilst often well-intentioned, some of the angels can border straight into KnightTemplar territory with a [[BlackAndWhiteInsanity distinctly black and white view on the world]]. The fallen angels can go ''any'' way, but are more often concerned for their own well-being rather than the well-being of others.
* JerkassWoobie: While many of Ignavas' memories have blurred together to the point where he can barely comprehend any of it, it is often implied that it may be better if he ''doesn't'' remember it. That, along with the frequent descriptions of his constant fatigue and increasing depersonalization lend quite a bit of sympathy to a soulless demon.

She also doesn't particularly wish to hurt people, nor her companions, but merely wouldn't care too much if they're caught in the cross-fire of her fire obsession.

* NeutralEvil: Perhaps less evil than most, considering her polite attitude, but Ira's overall goal in life is to burn down a large portion of the world. That may seem more like ChaoticEvil, but Ira wishes to acquire the necessary power for this before doing so. Meaning she doesn't really care ''how'' she get's more powerful, as long as she ''does''.

* TheComicallySerious: Most of her humour comes from the fact that takes ''everything'' seriously. Even Robin's sarcastic remarks.

* LackOfEmpathy: Although not exactly a sociopath, if he were to save a life, or kill one, he would feel the exact same level of pleasure and care.

* NominalHero: He has a contract with Shae, a more neutral character but still technically the good guy, meaning that he goes along with her more morally sound goal of keeping the [[BalanceBetweenGoodAndEvil 'balance']]. He, however, couldn't care less about the balance, and is motivated by retaining whatever sanity he has left.

* FauxAffablyEvil: Claims herself to be Ig's best friend and coats her utter hatred and malice with a jovial attitude.

* SevenDeadlySins: Not explicitly stated what type of demon she is, but from her aggression and malice towards Ignavas, Wrath is probably the best bet.

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: A lot of this in-universe, considering the ambiguity surrounding her single appearance. She's either a) a complete {{troll}} messing with Ig from beyond the veil because why not, b) [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold actually well meaning]], as her insults and ReasonYouSuckSpeech spur him into fixing the botched contract ritual between him and Shae, or c) not real at all and just a figment of Ig's deluded mind. Ig has no idea, he just knows that her voice was somewhat familiar.

* GreyAndGreyMorality: Despite the heavy 'Angels versus Demons' concept, things aren't quite that black and white. Being a demon doesn't necessary guarantee they are evil, nor does being an angel mean they are good. There are evil demons and good angels, but it isn't a way to predict it. Ignavas isn't so much evil as he is scared for his own sanity; some of the angels can border straight into KnightTemplar territory; and the fallen angels are more often concerned for their own well-being rather than the well-being of others.
