* WrittenInInfirmity: Creator/ChristopherLee broke his left hand after he slammed it on his hotel door. The injury is obviously seen as Saruman jeers at the Fellowship's plight on Caradhras.

** Much of the fight between Lurtz and Aragorn at Amon Hen was unchoreographed, unscripted, and ''very'' real due to some dodgy makeup effects on Lurtz's actor; specifically, his contacts eliminated a lot of his depth perception, resulting in him actually head butting Creator/ViggoMortensen quite hard, not pulling his punch on a sock to the gut, and famously actually throwing a real dagger at Mortensen's face because he got his aim wrong, resulting in Mortensen ''actually knocking a real dagger out of the air with his sword before it could stab him in the face.''
