Some people didn't like this on the YMMV page (and neither did I when I originally posted it, but wasn't sure where to put it), and I didn't realize there was a Trivia entry for it, so I moved it here. MUCH more appropriate.

* DuelingShows: An online streaming weekly sci-fi legacy series that is a continuation of an older release (NOT based on more recent, modern material) relying heavily on nostalgia mixed with new content, which tells the tale of [[spoiler: a familiar character with an instantly iconic catchphrase living in a universe after a major galactic political upheaval, essentially taking on a rescue and escort mission for a young new face (who is possibly the child of a classic character), opposing an old enemy regime that's secretly working on some nefarious science project to regain power INVOLVING said new face, turning on his chain of command that turns out to be kinda corrupt, striking out on his own with limited-to-no support, and making new friends and allies on the way. Oh, and droid hatred is a major theme, with killer robots and sympathetic AIs featuring prominently.]] Now . . . am I talking about Series/StarTrekPicard or Series/TheMandalorian?

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Patrick Stewart was initially insistent that besides Picard himself, the show should only feature new characters, wanting to make something with real substance and not just a glorified nostalgia bomb. Kurtzman and the other producers took a few days to convince him that more returning characters wouldn’t prevent that.

** Stewart received quite a few other offers to return to the role in the years since Nemesis, and turned them all down until this as he didn't feel there was enough purpose to their existence beyond pandering to the old school fans.

Not an example then.

* IKnewIt: The ending of Nemesis heavily implied that Data would be resurrected in B4's body after his HeroicSacrifice in the climax of that movie. Star Trek: Countdown (the prequel comic to the 2009 film) ran with this theory, but this series is the first time that Data has explicitly appeared after his resurrection in a canon TV series.
** Except he doesn't -- in "Remembrance", the series premiere, it is revealed that Data's attempted resurrection never truly took hold as B-4's positronic brain could not handle it, and B-4 was shut down and disassembled as a result. This makes Picard a case of CanonMarchesOn for the 2009 Countdown comics.
