* CowboyBeBopAtHisComputer: In the commentary for Velvet Smooth, Mike references the main characters from the Disney movie ''Lilo & Stitc'h' but mis-pronounces Lilo's name and calls her Lie-low instead of Lee-low.

* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: ''Film/WizardsOfTheLostKingdom'', was taken down possibly due to rights complications. Interestingly, the film would later be used for Season 11 of ''[=MST3K=]'' with completely different jokes.

* CowboyBebopAtHisComputer:
** ''Film/TheStarWarsHolidaySpecial'': The guys tear into Creator/GeorgeLucas severely, accusing him, among other things, of writing and directing the special while high on marijuana. However, Lucas had next-to-no involvement in the Special outside of participating in some initial planning (he was busy gearing up for preproduction on ''Film/TheEmpireStrikesBack'' and ''Film/RaidersOfTheLostArk'', both of which were eating up quite a bit of his time), which he had envisioned as a more straight ''Franchise/StarWars'' installment. The actual guilty party for the special's lack of quality or coherence was producer Mitzi Welch, who fired Lucas' choice as director, installed her own replacement, and then hired [[Series/TheHollywoodSquares Bruce Vilanch]] and [[Film/WrongfullyAccused Pat Proft]] to rewrite the special into a star-studded extravaganza more to her liking.
** ''Film/SupersonicMan'': They crack that Cameron Mitchell was paid 130,000 lira to be in the film - which is Spanish, not Italian, and therefore he would have been paid in ''pesetas'' at the time.
** ''Ghosthouse'': The guys refer to first four ''Film/ScaryMovie''s as Wayans Brothers movies. The Wayans family were only involved with the first two and had no involvement past that.
** In ''When a Stranger Calls Back'', Mike refers to two sailors as being ghosts from WWII because they were wearing traditional dress whites, however, this uniform was still very much in use at the time the film was made and at the time the Rifftrax commentary was made.

James is a huge Spider-Man fan and some of the jokes involve him getting irritated about adaptation differences, but it's made clear that (within the track itself) Mike doesn't give a shit and James is just going off on his own.

* CreatorBacklash: At the very least Bill [[https://twitter.com/BillCorbett/status/1472574495642857484?s=20 agrees]] with several fans that the transphobic jokes against Creator/TheWachowskis in the track for ''Film/TheMatrixReloaded'' were highly offensive and he's since assured that the jokes have been edited out.

* CaliforniaDoubling: During the ''Batman'' shorts, the guys make a number of jokes about how Gotham City looks a lot like rural 1940s southern California.

* CastTheExpert: {{Parodied}} when James Lileks appeared to co-riff ''Film/SpiderMan3'' with Mike. James is a huge Spider-Man fan and some of the jokes involve him getting irritated about adaptation differences, but it's made clear that (within the track itself) Mike doesn't give a shit and James was just going off on his own.

** Similarly, they tried to make a live for ''The Room'' but Tommy Wiseau wouldn't let them, not right away at least (he apparently called their office and yelled at whoever answered the phone). However, this changed, as they were able to do a live show on May 6, 2015, having raised enough with Website/{{Kickstarter}}.

* EditedForSyndication: Some riffs are condensed versions of the film. Most cases are that the film itself featured some kind of graphic violence and/or sexual content[[note]]Notably, ''Film/{{Jack Frost|1997}}'' is missing the infamous death by rape scene[[/note]], copyright issues[[note]]''Film/ItsAWonderfulLife''[[/note]] or simply have too much padding for its own good.

** ''Curse of Bigfoot'' is an especially bad example. It takes over half an hour for the actual plot to even get started, and even then there's still long sections of characters mountain climbing and the like. At least half the riffs are about the ridiculous amount of padding.

** A particularly egregious example in the movie ''Blood Theatre''. The guys are genuinely shocked to discover that the actors, who look like they're in their 30s, are supposed to be playing high school teenagers.

* ApprovalOfGod: The crew is fully aware of and approve of the various "Best of..." compilations throughout Website/YouTube. They even leave comments on some of them. Heck, they've even linked the "[=RiffTrax=] vs. Coronet" video on their own site!

** The [=YouTube=] re-release of ''The Star Wars Holiday Special'' omits the entire Boba Fett animated sequence, likely due to copyright issues.
** For the ''Film/{{Santa Claus|1959}}'' live show, the guys claim that they're going to riff the unedited version of the film complete with the full devil dance scene. However, the scene shown is still an edited down version that doesn't include a whole segment that shows some sinister-looking monks/priests making their way to hell as the devil's dance. These hooded figures can be seen briefly in the background right before Lucifer makes the devils disappear.

** This seems to be the default situation for the live episodes from Sony, as ''Film/{{Godzilla|1998}}'' won't receive a DVD release; instead, they included a gift certificate for the [=RiffTrax=] site for supporters in a certain tier to compensate for them having to get a DVD of ''Godzilla'' to play the riffs. In the case of Sony's films, it seems, according to WordOfGod, that the problem lies in them having to negotiate with and pay rights to two different departments within Sony for both the live show and [=VoD=]/[=DVD=] rights. Since the expense in time and money is significant, they've gone the live-only route for them.

** Ditto for the ''Film/TheRoom'' live "due to [[Creator/TommyWiseau a certain litigious cast member who will remain nameless]]".

** Following Richard ‘Lowtax’ Kyanka being outed as a serial spousal abuser, ''Film/Troll2'' was removed from the site. His death in November 2021 will likely not affect this decision.

** The same applies for ''Film/TheDarkKnight'', since the filmmakers didn't do anything to hide the fact that "Gotham City" was actually Chicago.

* CreatorsFavorite: Kevin ranks ''The Guy From Harlem'' as one of the series's top five riffs, along with ''Space Mutiny'', ''The Day the Earth Froze'', ''Miami Connection'', and ''Twilight''.

* MissingEpisode: The guys couldn't get the rights to release the ''Film/StarshipTroopers'' live on DVD, necessitating a separate audio recording.

** They really wanted to do ''Film/MiamiConnection'' live but Alamo Drafthouse didn't want to license the film to them. As with ''The Room'', this changed in 2015, as they raised enough money via Kickstarter to successfully negotiate with Alamo Drafthouse for the rights for an October 1 live show.
** ''Moment by Moment'' was never released on home video[[note]]There is a German DVD release (region 2), by MIG Filmgroup, that exists but it can be difficult to find and must be imported. As of yet, no region 1 release exists[[/note]] due to its poor reception so a normal [=RiffTrax=] mp3 commentary is impossible due to that which is why they would need to license it.
