** Stage 6: While mid 2011-early 2013 was undeniably the "golden age" (though 2015 was the year in which convention attendance and fan activity was the highest) it is impossible to deny that the fandom as a whole has changed. Whether that be for better or for worse remains to be seen, but there are arguments for a Stage 6 existence.
*** A (Cooldown): Not nearly as "flavor of the month" as a new fandom anymore, with new shows like ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'', ''WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil'', and other such shows gaining a massive PeripheryDemographic as well, the fandom has simply devoted time to other things. That said some of these shows going through an even faster lifecycle into decline, popular My Little Pony fan projects, the continued [=IDW=] comics, and a still large online fan presence have kept the lights on.
*** B (Oblivion): While bronies are still out there, they are more and more slipping out never to return, with many former bronies calling it "losing the spark" and it not coming back. As well, several conventions have closed their doors permanently (including flagship con [=BronyCon=], closing in 2019), meaning that representation is dwindling.

** Creator/PattonOswalt as Quibble Pants (seasons 4, 6, and 9).

** Britt [=McKillip=] usually voiced little girls or cutesy characters, making Princess Cadance a different turn for her.

* RelationshipVoiceActor: Since most of the cast comes from Creator/TheOceanGroup, a lot of them have worked together in other shows like ''WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy'', ''Manga/DeathNote'', ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam'', ''Manga/BlackLagoon'', etc.
** Speaking of ''Manga/BlackLagoon'', Creator/TabithaStGermain and Creator/CathyWeseluck play the roles of [[LittleBoySeeksBigGirl Roberta and Garcia Lovelace]] respectively in that show. On [=FiM=]? Same as the two, but as Pony and (Baby) Dragon, this time. This also falls on HilariousInHindsight considering the former happened before the latter, complete with the same [=VAs=].
** A great number from voice actors have also done a number of Franchise/{{Barbie}} movies, notably Creator/KellySheridan (Starlight Glimmer) as Barbie and Creator/ChantalStrand (Diamond Tiara) as Kelly/Chelsea.
*** ''WesternAnimation/BarbieInTheTwelveDancingPrincesses'' features Sheridan, Strand, Creator/NicoleOliver (Princess Celestia), Creator/KathleenBarr (Trixie Lulamoon), Creator/ChiaraZanni (Daring Do), Creator/AshleighBall (Rainbow Dash/Applejack), and Creator/BrittMcKillip (Princess Cadance) all playing sisters.
** On this show, Ashleigh Ball (Applejack) plays Creator/MichelleCreber's (Apple Bloom) older sister. On ''WesternAnimation/DinosaurTrain'' she plays her ''mother''.
** Here, Creator/MichelleCreber plays the main child character while Creator/MadeleinePeters (Scootaloo) plays her tomboy best friend. On ''WesternAnimation/MarthaSpeaks'', Peters plays the main child character and Creber is the tomboy friend. They also happen to be good friends in RealLife.
** Invoked with the Japanese release, as five of the voice actors from Anime/TanteiOperaMilkyHolmes voice five of the mane six. Also, the voice of the main antagonist from that show voices Little Strongheart.
*** Creator/SuzukoMimori and Creator/EmiriKatou voiced Himawari Furutani and Sakurako Ohmuro respectively on ''Manga/YuruYuri''
*** [[Creator/KikukoInoue Princess Celestia]] and [[Creator/SuzukoMimori Pinkie Pie]] are Branwen and Eilin respectively from ''Anime/QueensBlade Rebellion''

*** Braeburn and Sheriff Silverstar are [[Manga/JojosBizarreAdventure Jonathan Joestar and Speedwagon]], respectively.
*** Shining Armor and Cadance are Setsuna F. Seisei and Feldt Grace in ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam00'', who also happen to be romantically involved with each other.
*** Twilight Sparkle and Princess Cadance are respectively voiced by the actresses for the characters Cal[=/=]Drei and Ein from the anime adaptation of the visual novel ''VisualNovel/PhantomOfInferno'' as well as its remake; two young women who were both trained as assassins and nearly wind up killing each other, which is amusing in itself since it's the complete polar opposite of Cadance's relationship with Twilight. Amusingly, Timber Spruce in the movie ''Legend of Everfree'' is voiced by Creator/MiyuIrino in Japan who was Reiji[=/=]Zwei in the anime and remake; much like Twilight and Timber, Cal ended up falling for Reiji. Last but not least, Sunset Shimmer is voiced by Creator/AmiKoshimizu, who voiced Mio in ''Phantom''.
** Combined with RealLifeRelative in the case of the Mexican Spanish dub. Carla Castañeda, Twilight Sparkle's voice actress, is the daughter of Creator/MarioCastaneda and Rommy Mendoza (the respective voices for Night Light and Twilight Velvet).
** In the Polish dub, Creator/KatarzynaLaska (Princess Cadance), Creator/AnnaApostolakisGluzinska (demo voice for Applejack), and Creator/BeataWyrabkiewicz (NonSingingVoice for Pinkie Pie) have all worked together on ''WesternAnimation/PAWPatrol'' as Everest, Marshall, and Chase, respectively.

*** The songs take it to an extreme; almost ''all'' of the songs that involve female characters are sung by ''a single person'' - Andrea Baković to be exact - regardless of which or how many characters are singing at once, in many instances even leading to a combined case of SingingVoiceDissonance and TalkingToHimself. The only exceptions are songs that make heavy use of audio excerpts from the Serbian Mini dub (and those are few and tied to the first season), "Find a Pet" (where Fluttershy's VA and Andrea sing together), "The Flim Flam Brothers" (most of which is sung by male characters, anyway), "B.B.B.F.F." and "Love Is In Bloom" (these last two being sung by Twilight's VA instead).

* [[TalkingToHimself Talking To Herself]]:
** Creator/AndreaLibman pulls double duty as Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie (how's THAT for acting range?). It's particularly evident when Fluttershy starts cheering towards the end of "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E16SonicRainboom Sonic Rainboom]]" and sounds nearly identical to Pinkie. She also voices Pumpkin Cake, making "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E12BabyCakes Baby Cakes]]" full of this.
*** Andrea has proved that she is capable of easily switching between the two voices on the fly. Pinkie-voice apparently gives the other actors a headache.
** Ashleigh Ball voices both Applejack and Rainbow Dash. Now go watch "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E13FallWeatherFriends Fall Weather Friends]]" again, and marvel.[[labelnote:*]] Ashleigh has talked about how weird it was to be challenging herself to a race.[[/labelnote]] She also spends a fair amount of time with the RD/AJ bickering during "Castle mane-ia".
*** She also voices one or more of the nurse ponies[[labelnote:*]] likely including [[FanNickname Nurse Redheart]] in the "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E12BabyCakes Baby Cakes]]" ColdOpen (when trying to get Pinkie to shut up, the nurse has a slight but noticeable Southern drawl)[[/labelnote]], the male buffalo who talks to Spike in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E21OverABarrel Over a Barrel]]", and one of the dragons in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E21DragonQuest Dragon Quest]]".
*** Unlike Andrea, Ashleigh (being a professional singer), ''does'' sing both her characters' parts. At one point near the beginning of the "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E11WinterWrapUp Winter Wrap-Up]]" number, you can hear her switch from singing as AJ to Rainbow Dash ''mid-line''.
** Creator/TabithaStGermain voices Rarity, Princess Luna/Nightmare Moon, Granny Smith, Rarity's mom, Mrs. Cup Cake, Pound Cake, Photo Finish, (in the original version, at least) Derpy Hooves, but the only pairs of these characters who've had on-screen, two-way conversations are Rarity with Photo Finish and Rarity with her mom.
*** WordOfGod confirms that Tabitha also performs Twilight Sparkle during the studio recordings in Vancouver (Creator/TaraStrong, based 2000 miles and an international border away, overdubs her part later), demonstrated by [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uJI1WdKOaw this behind the scenes video]]. In other words, Tabitha probably talks to herself more than any other actress on the show!
*** In various interviews and con panels the [=VAs=] have stated that, while Tabitha does it most often on average, Twilight's part is generally read by whoever has the least lines in the current scene (such as "Eeeyup"). Since the whole point of reading the part at all is for the other actors to have something to play off, whoever is having an extended conversation with Twilight would not be the one reading her lines.
*** Luna and Rarity talk to each other in "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep" in Season 5.
** Michelle Creber voices Apple Bloom and does Sweetie Belle's singing. The two of them talk to each other as part of the song in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E17HeartsAndHoovesDay Hearts and Hooves Day]]".[[note]] Although given the technicalities of that song -- Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom sing in unison several times -- Michelle probably was not ever switching voices on the fly.[[/note]]
** You'd think this wouldn't happen with Creator/TaraStrong since she only voices one character. It happens quite ''literally'' in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E20ItsAboutTime Its About Time]]" when Twilight talks to her future self.
** There's also one of the best songs in the show, "This Day Aria", which is [[spoiler:Cadance singing with Chrysalis, who's disguised as Cadance herself.]]
** Creator/MasashiEbara humorously voices both Gustave le Grand and [[CrossDressingVoices Mulia Mild]] in the Japanese dub.
** Creator/TaraStrong and Creator/AndrewFrancis not only voice Twilight Sparkle and Shining Armor, but respectively provide the voices of their mom and dad as well for "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS6E2TheCrystallingPart2 The Crystalling, Part 2]]".
** Roberta Bartůňková provided the singing voices for ''almost all of the main characters'' in the Czech dub during season 3. During season 4, some characters' voice actors gave up their roles to her. Then, in season 5, she did the vocals for Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, and Fluttershy.

** Dave Dunnet, a development artist and location designer in Season 1, also worked as an animator on various Disney films such as ''WesternAnimation/TheBlackCauldron'', ''WesternAnimation/TheGreatMouseDetective'', ''Film/WhoFramedRogerRabbit'', ''WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaid1989'', and ''{{WesternAnimation/Tarzan}}'', along with Creator/HannaBarbera series like ''WesternAnimation/TheJetsons'' and ''WesternAnimation/TheSmurfs''.

** And then it went FromBadToWorse. At the beginning of August, it was discovered that now Sweden was going to release episodes early too. France [[UpToEleven didn't bother with any pretext]] and dumped all episodes up to 21 onto an on-demand service at the same time in the middle of August, with the later episodes over a month before the Discovery Family airing.

* ChildrenVoicingChildren: The main trio of young ponies are voiced by (initially) two 10-year-olds and a 13-year-old, fulfilling this trope for the first several years of the show's run.[[note]]Claire Corlett and Michelle Creber, both born in 1999, voice Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom respectively; Madeleine Peters, born in 1996, voices Scootaloo [[/note]] Most other child characters are [[DawsonCasting voiced by adult actors]], with a few exceptions:
