Describe Magmortar75 here.
That's going to be a problem, bub.
Magmortar75 is this guy who lives in Ohio who started visiting TV Tropes around fall of 2009. He spends most of his time here lurking around the various trope and work pages. Spends most of his free time doing lurking elsewhere on the internet (usually various forums,
GameFAQs is a notable one), drawing and working on various projects.
For the later, Magmortar is most notable for his massive
Super Smash Bros. project, Super Smash Bros. Clash. He also works on a couple other games and some writing projects.
Magmortar75 uses the following tropes:
- The Atoner: A variation since he's always been good. He's trying to make up for some of the errors from early on in his life and fixing some of his old problems.
- Ax Crazy: When he's angry he can become a not quite as vicious example of this.
- Berserk Button: Ken Masters and Pikachu among several others. Probably the most notable nowadays is Albert Wesker.
- Catch Phrase: Has had many throughout the years. "Oh COME ON!", "And That's Terrible" and "Oh boy" are among the more notable ones.
- The >_> probably borders on this for his internet life.
- Celibate Hero
- Character Alignment: Lawful Good. Occasionally breaks away from this, but Magmortar does have a very strong sense of justice and tries not to intentionally break his or other's codes. Magmortar occasionally leans towards Lawful Neutral or even Lawful Stupid territory.
- Recently, he's been leaning a bit closer to Neutral Good, being not quite as totally lawful as he used to be.
- Cloudcuckoolander: Sometimes, usually when he's in a group of totally sane people.
- Deadpan Snarker
- Fountain of Memes: A massive one among the smaller communities he visits. Most of the memes he spawns have to do with hilarious typos.
- Green Eyes: Has these.
- Large Ham: Sometimes chews on scenery. This is usually more on the internet than in real life.
- Last Name Basis: Usually how he refers to friends.
- The Mario: In terms of real life speed / power standards for a high school guy, this is probably what he's closest to.
- Mighty Glacier: Tends to use these characters in fighting games.
- Never Live It Down: His "Can't we all just get along?" Catch Phrase is nigh-always associated with him if it gets brought up, despite not really saying it a lot for about 3 years now in only one class.
- Nice Guy: One of the biggest examples of this where he lives; also tends to show up on the internet. Magmortar has a very tough time getting really angry at someone, is willing to help almost anyone and is a very firm believer in Rousseau Was Right and when he does venture away from this he tends to regret it later.
- Not a Morning Person
- Only Sane Man: Another defining feature of this character. Occasionally subverted.
- Pacifist
- Parrot Exposition
- Playing with Fire: The elemental power he finds himself using the most in video games.
- The Quiet One: Quite often.
- Red Baron: Sonic the Ranthog, an Ascended Meme that came from his previous primary alias (Sonic) and tendency to go off into large rants.
- Rousseau Was Right: Believes that people are essentially good; almost everyone who isn't chose it to be like that and probably could atone or otherwise redeem themselves. It is possible to convince him there are exceptions to this but it can be difficult.
- Sliding Scale of Idealism Versus Cynicism: Heavily leans toward idealism, although there have been exceptions.
- Surrounded by Idiots: It'd be easier to list situations where he doesn't feel like this.
- The Smart Guy: Usually serves as either this or a male Team Mom in a Five-Man Band.
- Third-Person Person: Likes to speak like this sometimes, most notably on this page.
- Understatement: Loves using this trope. That in itself is probably an example of this trope.
- Verbal Tic: You really think Magmortar would be using one of THESE, bub?
More examples will be added when people feel it is appropriate.
Some of the tropes seen in Magmortar's include:
- Anti-Hero: Many of his side but still good characters; usually The Lancer for a story is this. Most are type III or IV, although some of the more minor ones drift towards type V.
- Anti-Villain: Many of his villainous characters who aren't pure evil are this. Sometimes, they have Heel Face Revolving Door tendencies, are a Reverse Mole or have something that distinctly turns them away from true evil.
- Complete Monster: Many, many of his villainous characters; although very rarely is the Big Bad one of these. Magmortar has said "it's a fun character type to write; you have a villain who essentially has no limits to the evil they care capable of. It's that type of a freedom that the trope gives for why I love writing this type of character."
- Creator Cameo: He likes giving the original creator of a work, or himself, a shout out in stories. Sometimes they are a major figure in the plot, but not always.
- Darker and Edgier: His general direction, and pretty much what he always does when dealing with classic characters.
- Development Hell: Sometimes when it comes to finishing up a project, or just revealing one.
- Five-Man Band:
- Fountain of Memes: Runs in the veins apparently.
- No Fourth Wall
- Schedule Slip: Frequently.
- Sorting Algorithm of Evil
- The Stinger: Loves using this.
- With Friends Like These: Another trope Magmortar has a lot of entertainment with.
This thing is
already over.
You're kidding. Well, time to go.
