Tropes used by Ranticoot
- Attention Deficit Creator Disorder: Many, many times in regards to projects.
- Badass Mustache: Famous for this in his community.
- Badass Beard: Sometimes sports this instead.
- Berserk Button: Rant has a lot of these. Probably too many. Standouts include the word "lazy" in certain contexts, Love Live! and Smash 4 Bowser.
- Big Applesauce: Rant was born in New York, and sometimes tries to talk in a New York accent.
- Catchphrase: Has had many, but the one sticking right now seems to be "tired". "What does that even MEAN!?" is another good one.
- Character Alignment: Somewhere inbetween Neutral Good and True Neutral these days, leaning towards the latter.
- Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Rant sometimes shows signs of being "out there", particularly late at night.
- The Cynic: These days, probably Rant's defining trait.
- Deadpan Snarker: Rant has a very cynical sense of humor.
- Does Not Like Guns: Alongside generally not liking what they can do, Rant generally considers guns a bit generic and tasteless, which is one reason why guns are used with extreme rarity in his work.
- The Eeyore: Has hints of this.
- Evil Laugh: Although Rant's typical rant is a extremely high one that almost sounds like his voice dying, he is more than capable of doing this instead.
- Fountain of Memes: In real life and on many smaller communities Rant visits, almost every line ends up becoming an in-joke. This particularly applies whenever he makes a typo, as he tends to make ones that just make you think "how is that even possible?"
- Green Eyes: Has these, though they're really closer to blue-green.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: Rant is incredibly easy to set off.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Rant can and often is extremely blunt and fairly mean-spirited, but deep down that very cold set of armor, he still means well and doesn't hate people. Often.
- Kindhearted Cat Lover: Rant loves cats and will pretty much always get lost over one if he sees a particularly adorable one. His own two cats, namely.
- Large Ham: Rant can be - and often is - very loud, and very boisterous.
- Last-Name Basis: Usually how he refers to friends.
- Meaningful Name: Magmortar75 comes from Magmortar, his favorite Pokémon at one point in time, and a number he's fond of. Sonic Ranticoot is a better example; it comes from two other franchises he is a fan of as well as his infamous tendency to rant endlessly once a button is pressed.
- Metal Head: As you can probably already tell, Rant adores Heavy Metal and Hard Rock.
- Mighty Glacier: Tends to use these characters in any game where they are available, especially in fighting games.
- Musical Theme Naming: Rant is often such a music nut his works go all the way and random parts get named after bands, songs, or musical terms.
- Nice Guy: Rant was this for a long time, and even today still has hints of it, particularly with his closest friends. Particularly, Rant has a tendency to be far more friendly and squarely into this trope in relatively unknown situations.
- Noodle People: Several of Rant's character designs fall into this. He's influenced by Tim Burton and Jhonen Vasquez. It shows from time to time.
- Not a Morning Person: Rant can not wake up early. Ever.
- Only Sane Man: If he's not a Cloud Cuckoo Lander, he has a good chance of being this instead.
- Playing with Fire: Rant probably prefers this to any other elemental power, and is gravitated towards characters that use it in video games.
- The Quiet One: Quite often.
- Ridiculous Procrastinator: On just about everything. Averted sometimes.
- Sir Swearsalot: On the internet, Ranticoot has a bad tendency of being incapable of not inserting a swear word into his sentences. Rant is known to swear in real life as well but nowhere near as often.
- Cluster F-Bomb: When he is REALLY riled up or just feels like going off on something. Sometimes Played for Laughs too.
- Precision F-Strike: If Rant isn't using a whole lot of curse words, it's probably because he's building up to one of these.
- Sliding Scale of Idealism Versus Cynicism: Although idealism is surprisingly not unheard of, Rant and most of what he works on are ridiculously slanted towards cynicism.
- Surrounded by Idiots: It'd be easier to list situations where he doesn't feel like this.
- The Smart Guy: Rant often ends up as the logic and technicality guy in a Five-Man Band.
- Tempting Fate: Ranticoot is extremely prone to saying things at the worst possible time.
- Third-Person Person: Rant speaks like this frequently.
- Took a Level in Cynic: Several levels.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: More just cynicism than this trope, but Rant has also gradually became less forgiving towards people over the years.
- Totally Radical: Sometimes talks like this. If he is, then he is not to be taken seriously at that time.
- Trademark Favorite Drink: Coca-Cola and Cheerwine. Rant's favorite beverage is indeed Coca-Cola, but he tends to talk more about Cheerwine.
- Understatement: Rant is a big fan of this trope, often using comparative cases of understatements to illustrate points.
