* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Following the steps of Music/GirlsGeneration and Music/DongBangShinKi, f(x) was supposed to debut and promote in Japan, but plans for that were scrapped due to the Dokdo islands dispute (a major factor in Japan's declining interest in Korean media in 2012). Aside from releasing "Hot Summer" in 2012 as their Japanese debut single and performing several concerts there, a Japanese version of "Pinnochio" was recorded and filmed but never had an official release (though it was leaked around 2016).
