* {{Blooper}}: When Wanda shows up at the house of Wanda-383, the latter is supposed to be barefoot the entire scene, but when Wanda blasts Wanda-383 from the staircase, she briefly has socks on.

** [[spoiler:Creator/JohnKrasinski as [[ComicBook/FantasticFour Reed Richards]]]] has been a popular fancast for a long period of time, and the movie made it official, albeit [[spoiler: as a version from another universe and not as the Reed native to the MCU's main timeline.]] [[note]]Which means that while Marvel Studios could still cast him as the "main" Reed, another actor could potentially be cast in the part if the situation calls for it.[[/note]]

** Creator/HayleyAtwell wasn't a fan of Captain Carter being amongst the Illuminati's cannon fodder, noting that she wanted to do so much more with the character still. Despite her variant's death here, Atwell has expressed interest in portraying Peggy in a more interesting way in future installments.

* ShrugOfGod: When asked if [[spoiler:John Krasinski would also be playing Reed Richards in the ''Fantastic Four'' reboot]], Michael Waldron simply deflected the question by saying he didn't know.

** Another similar rumor is that an appearance by Creator/RyanReynolds as Film/{{Deadpool}} was cut, but Reynolds insists he was never involved with this movie at any point.

** There were talks about the possibility of including a cameo of [[Characters/DeadpoolFilms Deadpool]], but the filmmakers ultimately felt like that the movie wasn't ideal to introduce Deadpool to the MCU. Judging by comments made by Creator/RyanReynolds, it seems this idea never made it far enough to where Marvel got in touch with him about doing this. Deadpool's arrival in the MCU would come with his third film instead, ''Film/DeadpoolAndWolverine''.

** In the European French dub, Charles Xavier is voiced by Pierre Dourlens, reprising his role from the ''Film/XMenFilmSeries''.

** Kevin Feige wanted to remove Strange and America's first encounter with Baron Mordor on Earth-838 because he found the scene to be corny. Sam Raimi refused to do it however z and Feige eventually backed down.

** Creator/BruceCampbell stated in a [[https://comicbook.com/movies/news/bruce-campbell-marvel-movie-cameos-character-spider-man-doctor-strange-2-multiverse-of-madness-pizza-poppa-mcu/ 2023 interview]] that his cameo in this film and cameos in the ''Film/SpiderManTrilogy'' are all the same character, though he didn't specify whether Pizza Poppa is an alternate counterpart of his character in the trilogy or if he's the same character somehow transported to Earth-838.

* SequelGap: This film was released five and a half years after Strange's [[Film/DoctorStrange2016 first solo film]], which is especially surprising since every prior sub-series in the MCU (namely Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the Avengers, Guardians of Galaxy, Ant-Man, and Spider-Man) didn't have as wide a gap between releases[[note]]For reference, the prior longest gap between installments was four years between ''Film/ThorTheDarkWorld'' and ''Film/ThorRagnarok''.[[/note]] as the good doctor did. Though it helps in this case that Strange [[Film/ThorRagnarok has]] [[Film/AvengersInfinityWar made]] [[Film/AvengersEndgame various]] [[WesternAnimation/WhatIf appearances]] [[Film/SpiderManNoWayHome and cameos]] with increasing importance throughout the MCU since his debut film. It's also understandable given the delays caused by the UsefulNotes/COVID19Pandemic.

** This movie was originally meant to be before ''Film/SpiderManNoWayHome'' before the UsefulNotes/COVID19Pandemic forced the schedules to be altered and for this movie to ultimately come after it. It begs the massive question of what would've happened had this movie indeed been before ''No Way Home'' (with some of ''No Way Home'''s production art suggesting America Chavez would have played a role in that film, but was removed due to having not been introduced yet).

* PresumedFlop: A case of a film being labelled as a disappointment due to the lofty expectations placed on it as opposed to its actual performance. The film received a mixed critical reception, slightly undershot its forecasted $1 billion mark, and founds itself released amongst a set of other MCU and comic book films with inconsistent financial returns, all of which have caused some critics to file ''Multiverse of Madness'' within that category. Nonetheless, the film still earned $952 million worldwide ($411 million domestic) on a $200 million budget, achieved the highest opening weekend of any film in 2022, and is within the upper percentile of MCU grosses overall; achieving that in spite of the film not being released in Russia or China, two countries that previously gave the MCU extra box office strength.

* LoadsAndLoadsOfRoles: Four in Creator/BenedictCumberbatch's case, as he portrays Doctor Strange from the Sacred Timeline, as well as three alternate universe Variants dubbed Sinister Strange, Defender Strange and Supreme Strange.

* BannedInChina: This film was [[https://www.thewrap.com/doctor-strange-2-banned-saudi-arabia-gay-character/ banned in Saudi Arabia]] for a myriad of reasons, though the biggest factor appears to have been America Chavez [[HasTwoMommies having two mothers]]. ** Early drafts had Wanda becoming evil by the end. Writer Creator/MichaelWaldron eventually decided that such a threat had to be a villainess from the get-go.

* InspirationForTheWork: Creator/KevinFeige noted that the visual style of the film was heavily based on Sam Raimi's previous work on ''Film/EvilDead2''. Creator/MichaelWaldron also admitted to have been influenced by ''{{Aliens}}'', likening [[spoiler:Wanda's slaughter of the Illuminati to the Xenomorphs killing the marines in that film.]]
